Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld

Chapter 27 - 26: A True Lingering Spirit

Chu Liangyu’s movements were exceptionally light. The elk was completely unaware of the approaching danger.

She darted out from behind the elk, plunging her bronze short knife straight into its back.

The back wasn’t a vital spot, but it was enough for Chu Liangyu to seize the opportunity and deliver a fatal blow.

Chu Liangyu knew the scent of blood would attract big trouble, so she didn’t dare linger.

She carefully concealed her scent all the way back, and upon returning to the cave, she sealed the entrance again.

Only when not a single wisp of air could escape did Chu Liangyu feel safe enough to enjoy her meal.

She was used to eating cooked meat, but circumstances didn’t permit it now.

Just having something to eat to replenish her strength was a blessing. Perhaps because she was in a Beastman’s body, Chu Liangyu adapted well.

Chu Liangyu finished off the sizable elk with ease.

Once her body was replenished with energy, Chu Liangyu felt her condition improve significantly.

But an overwhelming wave of exhaustion washed over her, and she could barely fight it.

She found a random spot, closed her eyes, and went to sleep.

「The next day, Chu Liangyu woke up late in the morning.」

As expected, a full stomach and a good night’s sleep did wonders for her energy levels.

But... something felt off.

’Isn’t it too bright in this cave?’

Chu Liangyu froze mid-stretch. The stone at the cave’s entrance showed signs of having been moved.

The stone couldn’t be pushed from the outside; only someone inside could move it.

Chu Liangyu whipped her head around. The little fox that had been sleeping beside her was gone.

’His wounds haven’t even healed! What is that little cub doing running outside?!’

Chu Liangyu strode to the entrance, placed both hands on the massive stone, and pushed with all her might.

BOOM...

The stone smashed directly into the cave wall and shattered.

Dust filled the cave, and Chu Liangyu, choking, scrambled outside.

Her Magic Robe remained as clean as ever, but her face and hands were coated in a thin layer of dust.

’When did I get so strong?’

’I just ate an elk. The effect can’t be this good, can it? I’ve never heard of anything like this.’

It was a good thing, though. Since she couldn’t figure out why, Chu Liangyu decided not to dwell on it.

’I haven’t practiced Taiyin Fist in a while. This is a perfect chance to test its effects.’

As was her habit, Chu Liangyu closed her eyes and took a deep breath, pushing all stray thoughts from her mind.

She had already committed every move and stance of the Taiyin Fist to memory, grasping even the most minute details of depth and motion with perfect accuracy.

An entire set flowed like water, both graceful and pleasing to the eye.

Hidden killing intent was visible in its subtleties, but this was just the form. It had to be paired with a mental method to unleash its true power.

It was time for Chu Liangyu to move on to the second Chapter of her training. The mental method focused more on teaching one how to quickly enter the proper state, achieving a unity of mind and fist.

Proper breathing and energy circulation were the foundation—the cornerstone—of the mental method, making them incredibly important.

The power of the Taiyin Fist was directly related to one’s mastery of the mental method.

Chu Liangyu dared not be careless. She studied the *Vajra Scripture Body Technique* character by character.

Gradually, Chu Liangyu became so immersed in her studies that the scenery around her began to blur.

She even forgot why she had come outside in the first place.

"Beast Mother, I’m back! I even brought you a pheasant!"

"Look..."

Chu Liangyu was sitting cross-legged, immersed in a profound, mysterious state.

The little cub’s shout yanked her back to reality.

Chu Liangyu didn’t open her eyes immediately. She first stabilized her mind before carefully withdrawing from her meditative state.

A sharp intake of breath...

’I came out of the cave to find the little cub, but I got carried away, practiced a set of forms, and completely forgot.’

Rubbing her temples, Chu Liangyu collected herself, just about to speak.

Then she saw the new tail that had appeared on his backside and couldn’t help her surprise. "What’s this?"

"I awakened my Nine-tailed Fox bloodline talent. My power has increased greatly, so I grew another tail."

’That’s right. I remember the Childbirth System mentioning this.’

Aside from the original ancestor who was born with nine tails, all descendants of the Nine-tailed Fox had to awaken their talents and increase their power to fully stimulate their bloodline and grow more tails.

Each of the nine tails was a symbol of power. Cultivating to the very end even brought a high chance of atavism—reverting to the ancestral form.

This referred not just to appearance, but to bloodline and innate abilities as well.

"You’ve done very well."

’So far, including him, only two fox cubs have ever grown a second tail, and he’s the youngest of them all.’

"Has your Beast Father given you a name?"

"He has." The little fox, a bit embarrassed by the praise, turned his head. His gaze wandered, not daring to meet Chu Liangyu’s, but he still answered obediently, "My Beast Father named me Hu Qiuliang."

"Mm. Your Beast Father will be proud of you." Chu Liangyu patted the little fox’s head, her smile gentle.

Suddenly, a massive shadow fell over them from the sky.

Chu Liangyu’s heart began to race. She instinctively sensed danger.

The gentle expression froze on her face. In a flash, she shoved Hu Qiuliang out of the shadow’s reach.

She herself executed a clean roll, dodging to the other side.

Chu Liangyu steadied herself, and once she was on her feet, she looked up.

Four deep talon marks were gouged into the ground where she had just been standing. They belonged to an eagle.

In mid-air, a giant golden eagle circled above. One of its eyes was shut.

’Oh, look who it is. If it isn’t my old acquaintance, Yin Muli.’

"I know you’re not as strong as you were last time. You can’t defeat me."

"Hand over the mask, and I just might spare your life."

Chu Liangyu sneered. "Didn’t you see for yourself? The mask has already fused with my body. I can’t give it to you."

"And even if I could, I wouldn’t."

The moment the words left her lips, Chu Liangyu charged forward, bronze short knife in hand.

With a light leap, she grabbed onto the eagle’s talons, then used them to launch herself onto its back. Fists and knife fell in a relentless barrage.

She was so light and nimble, he had no chance to react.

Yin Muli had been observing her for the past few days, confirming that she was no longer as powerful as she had been in the tribe.

Her strength should have been about the same as he’d last seen it, but her skills and power just now were on a completely different level.

’Could it be she was faking it? Was I deceived?’

SCREECH...

With a piercing cry, Yin Muli soared high into the sky, carrying Chu Liangyu with him.

Wisps of cloud passed through them, briefly blurring Chu Liangyu’s vision.

The eagle’s back was already a mangled, bloody mess from her attacks. ’This bastard actually flew up here while enduring that pain.’

Alarm bells screamed in Chu Liangyu’s mind. She gripped Yin Muli’s neck tightly with both hands.

Sure enough, in the next instant, Yin Muli flipped over, his belly facing the sky, and began to plummet straight toward the ground.

If Chu Liangyu had been even a fraction of a second slower, she would have fallen to her death, smashed to smithereens.

Just looking at Yin Muli, it was clear he was prepared to die just to take her with him, even if she managed to hold on.

’No,’ she thought, frowning. ’I can’t let him lead me by the nose.’

She wrapped her arms tightly around the eagle’s head and clamped its body with her legs, using every ounce of her strength to flip them back upright.

This way, even though Yin Muli wasn’t actively flying, his outstretched wings effectively slowed their descent.

But it was Yin Muli’s body, after all. He still had the final say in its control.

Chu Liangyu exhausted her strength, only for him to effortlessly flip them over again.

But she was stubborn, too. Over and over, she forced Yin Muli back upright.

Who knows how many times they struggled back and forth. Their rate of descent fluctuated, but their eventual crash was inevitable.

Utterly exasperated, Chu Liangyu’s patience finally snapped. She bit down hard on the eagle’s back. "You want to die, is that it? Fine. I’ll make it as miserable as possible for you."
