The sudden mishap made the once coveted Imperial Jue Temple turn into a hellish place. Assassins disguised as fake monks, like executioners wielding butcher knives, swiftly harvested lives, sometimes from the Royal Family.
When the crisis occurred, some immediately sounded the alarm. At this time, Ah Jiu’s prior arrangements came into effect. There was no time to speculate how Prince Jin foresaw this, arriving to protect the emperor, capture assassins, and maintain order.
Emperor Yan had been escorted away by his Shadow Guard and Dragon Guard, and as Wufu approached the Imperial Jue Temple, the Emperor was nowhere to be seen, uncertain if he was alive or dead.
A woman staggered towards Wufu, clutching a delicately dressed child with a pale face. Behind her, a fierce fake monk stabbed his sword into her back.
Thud.
Wufu seemed to hear the sound of the sword piercing flesh, so clear.
The woman fell forward, and the child she was holding tumbled to the ground, crying loudly in fright.
The fake monk raised his sword towards Wufu again.
Scumbag!
Wufu quickly lunged forward, activating the bracelet mechanism she was wearing, releasing a tiny needle shooting towards the attacker. Simultaneously, her whip lashed out.
The fake monk sensed danger, instinctively bobbed his head to avoid it, the hidden weapon grazed his face, causing his sword to hesitate.
In that brief moment, Wufu’s whip had already wrapped around his leg, pulling hard, tearing off a piece of cloth and flesh with the sharp barbs.
Mo Lan and Xiao Qi also rushed over. Two against one, it was easily manageable.
Wufu picked up the pale-faced, frightened child sitting on the ground. He was Emperor Yan’s youngest son, seemingly named Mingdong?
"Don’t be afraid." She wiped his tears away.
The little guy, upon seeing Wufu, blinked his eyes, sniffling, clutching Wufu’s neck like holding onto a lifeline, cried out: "Imperial Aunt."
Wufu paused momentarily. She rarely visited the palace, although she had met this little guy before, but didn’t expect he would recognize her.
Being called ’Aunt’ made Wufu feel both sour and soft inside. She held him close, saying, "Don’t be afraid, Aunt will take you away."
By this time, Xiao Qi and Mo Lan had already killed the fake monk.
"Let’s go." Wufu paid no mind to the people in the hall, just about to slip into a small grove to the side, when someone dressed in black appeared, locking eyes with Wufu.
Wufu saw the person’s eyes, half-squinted, her nose twitched, her gaze sharpened: "It’s you."
The very man who tampered with her during the Longevity Festival, it was indeed Lu Shenxing, she couldn’t mistake his presence.
Enemies meeting made Wufu’s eyes blaze with anger, without thinking she flung her whip towards him.
The whip, armed with hooks and barbs, whirled fiercely like the wind. Lu Shenxing agilely dodged to the side, his sword aimed at the Little Prince in Wufu’s arms.
Wufu, holding the Little Prince, spun away, the sword grazing her arm, and shouted: "Take him down."
Before Wufu’s words had settled, Mo Lan and Xiao Qi simultaneously began grappling with Lu Shenxing.
Lu Shenxing’s Sword Qi was fierce, his moves brutal, and his bodily agility was swift. He was fast, but Xiao Qi was not slow either, like a wolf with a dagger, attacking furiously.
Xiao Qi was up close and personal, while Mo Lan with a longer sword attacked from afar intermittently, complimenting each other. The two often practiced together, and their cooperation was remarkably smooth, causing Lu Shenxing to be overwhelmed and somewhat flustered.
Realizing he was losing, Lu Shenxing’s first thought was to escape. He leapt into the air, feigning a move with his sword, retreating backward. But as soon as he turned around, he was confronted by Wufu’s smirking face: "Trying to escape?"
A long needle stabbed straight at his acupuncture point, Lu Shenxing felt his entire body go numb, and collapsed down.
