Doted By The Regent King

Chapter 1959 - 1897: Unlucky Guy

As Ah Jiu stepped out of the Heavenly Prison, snow began to drift down from the sky. The dark night felt like a beast preparing to open its massive jaws, oppressive and stifling.

Yuan Ye opened a Black Bone Umbrella to shield him, saying, "Prince?"

Ah Jiu closed his eyes briefly and said, "The Princess Consort is in the palace, I’m not returning to the residence. Prepare Lu Shenxing’s information, the Emperor might request to see it when he wakes up."

"Understood."

"You go now." Ah Jiu waved his hand and walked forward.

Yuan Ye quickly instructed the little eunuch to take the umbrella and escort him back to the palace. Once Ah Jiu’s figure disappeared into the night, he turned to leave.

Wufu was sleeping soundly when she suddenly felt a chill beside her, causing her eyes to fly open just as she was about to spring up. A familiar voice reached her ears: "It’s me."

She looked over to see Ah Jiu slipping into her bed, holding her and burying his head in her neck, drawing in her fragrance.

"What’s wrong?" Detecting his low spirits, Wufu softly patted his arm, asking.

Ah Jiu simply looked at her and suddenly kissed her lips, pressing himself against her.

Tossed amongst waves of passion, exceedingly tantalizing.

After an intense bout of love, the two lay embraced on the bed, talking.

"Is there something troublesome?" Wufu kissed the corner of his mouth.

Ah Jiu twirled a strand of her hair around his finger, speaking in a heavy voice, "He’s afflicted with a kind of Gu poison known as Drunken Thousand Gu. It’s sunk into his vital organs, and no medicine can cure it."

"More Gu?" Wufu’s eyes widened.

"Gu Poison Liquid, who knows when it was planted. It’s already taken root. I saw with my own eyes a worm no thicker than a hair emerge from his nose."

Wufu instantly felt goosebumps all over her arms, extremely nauseating.

"No medicine can cure it? It can’t be resolved?" Wufu asked, suppressing her nausea, "The Heart Gu that you were afflicted by was already extremely formidable. Is this even more so?"

"According to Lu Shenxing, if detected early, it could be resolved. But once it’s grown into worms and emerges from the facial features, then it’s evident that there are thousands of worms inside!"

Oh my!

"Do you mean he’s like a hen, incubating countless chicks, no, little worms?" How horrifying can it get?

"Yes." Ah Jiu nodded. "It’s likely even more precise than he described."

"That’s not possible! He’s the Emperor, how could he unknowingly be afflicted by Gu poison? Wouldn’t the testers detect it?" Wufu was incredulous. Typically, an Emperor has dedicated staff for meals, not only testing for poison with Silver Needles but also having the little eunuchs taste it before consuming.

How could they have placed Gu poison on him?

Ah Jiu replied, "There are always things colorless and tasteless. Besides, Lu Shenxing mentioned this Gu poison requires a trigger to activate the worms; otherwise, there’s no abnormality. He himself probably hadn’t sensed anything amiss."

A trigger?

"What is the trigger?"

Ah Jiu said, "Those firecrackers, the first explosion. I asked Eunuch Lu; when he was about to burn the scriptures, after the explosion, he spat blood. I reckon it was then."

"So he was just unlucky." Wufu chuckled lightly, "Is this what’s troubling you? Because of him?"

"He’s likely truly dying!" Ah Jiu spoke after a lengthy pause. "If it’s as Lu Shenxing said, with worms already grown and spreading, even if the poison is neutralized, it might still be too late. The Emperor Star dimming is tied to this."

Wufu fell silent.
