Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 675: As you command, My Wife.

"You smiled sixteen times while talking to Elira.

She really made you that happy, huh?"

Lavinia spoke as she looked at Kael.

"...huh?"

Kael blinked at those words, unable to believe it.

"...you were counting?"

"You think I just said a random number that came to my mind?"

The former Drakthar Princess narrowed her eyes. For a moment, Kael was tempted to say yes. He highly doubted Lavinia would be counting the number of times he smiled at Elira, however, when he looked into Lavinia’s violet eyes, when he saw that dark look on her face.

For a moment—

He couldn’t help but think that it was very much possible.

Of course, whether she actually did count or not did not matter. After all, there was only one wise answer here, and Kael knew what it was.

"Of course not. I can never doubt yo—"

He answered with a big smile on his face, however, before he could even complete his words, Lavinia grabbed the collar of his furry cape, then, she pulled him close to her and—

"You can only smile when you are with me, do you understand that?"

She spoke, her violet eyes shining with a dangerous light.

Kael looked into those eyes. Any sane man should have been terrified by those words, Kael, however, just smiled. Then, he leaned in and gave her a very short kiss.

"As you command, My Wife."

He spoke, especially focusing on the word wife and Lavinia—

All her previous bravado disappeared right that instant. First, it was the lingering feeling of the kiss on her lips. Before her mind could even process that, the word wife became the second strike.

Her face flushed before she could control it.

Then, when she saw Kael smiling at her, she only lowered her head and—

"...good."

She spoke in a very low, almost inaudible voice.

Kael smiled at that, then, he gently held her hand. Lavinia had been through a lot today. The Stormholds’ visit was like an emotional reunion for him, but for Lavinia, it was a little worse.

For Lavinia, it was facing her past again.

It was like a trailer for what she was about to face in the future.

Returning to her Kingdom, to the people she once loved, this time, as a possible enemy. It would never be an easy feeling.

So as Kael stood next to her, gently holding her hand, he made sure she knew he would always be with her.

No matter what.

Lavinia, who could tell what he was doing, smiled lightly.

She tightened her hold around his hand, then, the two returned to their quarters.

The rest of the day was spent with much more ease. Since the war was finally over, both Kael and Lavinia finally had time for themselves. Lavinia spent this time on training. She still needed to work on her Elemental Magic.

As for Kael—

He decided to return to the important aspect of his power that he had been ignoring all this while.

[Ancient’s Call.]

He had been avoiding it for a while since his presence was of utmost importance, but now that he had Ferrakar holding the fort, he could afford to leave for a while.

So now, it was time to return to the Ancient Sanctum.

To the Genesis Hive, that he had been unable to clear all this time.

And this time—

The training that he had been doing with Imperia was going to help.

Kael thought inwardly as he looked at Imperia, who nodded at him with a strong look on her face. The Ant was confident her Father would win this time.

Kael looked at her and nodded back, then, he glanced at Lavinia.

"I’ll be leaving now."

He spoke.

"Be careful."

Lavinia nodded.

She was comparatively relieved since Kael couldn’t actually die inside, but the pain he felt was still real and it worried her.

Though Lavinia did understand how important it was, so she didn’t stop him. Kael nodded, then, without wasting any time—

He activated the Ancient’s Call, the Portal formed in front of him, he looked at Imperia, who seemed ready as well, then, the Father-Daughter pair walked in with brave looks on their faces.

...

Once inside, Kael opened his eyes again. The same earthy scent entered his nose, the same bioluminescent moss glowed faintly on the walls, and the same massive roots hung from the ceiling. (A/N: Refer to Chapter 350 for those who forgot about Genesis Hive)

Kael then sensed hundreds of thousands of Ants around him, crawling across the walls, the roots, the tunnels, and the ground, all moving in silence, without making the slightest sound.

Kael stood in front of the amber Brood Chamber.

Imperia was on his shoulder, her antennae moving gently as she looked at the chamber in front of her.

Kael still remembered how the Swarmmind Link had crushed his mind the first time he came to this place, how hundreds of thousands of thoughts, emotions, movements, and instincts flooded his head all at once and he collapsed.

Kael didn’t even want to remember how long it took for him to get used to that feeling, though of course, he was far better now.

And this time—

He was going to clear this mission.

"Father."

Imperia called as she slowly turned towards him.

The little Ant seemed calm, but Kael could see it. She was nervous. She was worried about him getting hurt again.

"It will be alright."

He smiled as he gently rubbed her head with his finger.

"Mm."

The little Ant nodded.

Kael’s smile softened. The little Ant looked at the Brood Chamber again. The shell pulsed slowly, the vines around it moved softly, as if welcoming her.

"Go."

Kael nodded softly.

"Yes."

Imperia nodded as she jumped from his shoulder and walked toward the Brood Chamber.

The moment she got close, the amber shell opened, the vines separated, and a soft golden light spilled out. Before entering, Imperia turned back to look at Kael one last time, Kael looked back then—

"This time, I will protect you."

He spoke confidently and Imperia—

"I know, Father."

Her eyes softened a little.
