Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons
Chapter 682: [State Acquired: Sovereign Mind.]"KKRREEIIIIIIIEEKKKKKK!!!"
The Devourer screeched again. Kael’s ants moved for the one last time, pushing everything they had against the monstrous entity in front of them.
Tiny ants climbed into its eyes, Soldier ants stabbed its neck, Acid ants burst themselves against the softened armor, Shield ants blocked its lower jaw, and Burrowers collapsed the ground beneath its front legs.
The Devourer’s head lifted by just a few inches and those few inches were all that Kael needed.
He stepped into the air and—
[Draconic Surge]
He pushed himself to his limits, his body blurring for a very short second. The Devourer could still see where he was, but this time, it was too late to stop it.
Kael’s sword reached the weak point and—
[Draconic Strike]
He activated his ability, gathering all the strength he could.
PIERCE
His sword pierced through the exposed gap, the blade sinking deep.
"KRRIIIEEEEKKKKKKK!!!"
The Devourer screamed. Kael didn’t stop, he pushed the sword deeper, against the monster’s thrashing. It tried to throw Kael off, but it didn’t matter.
Kael had turned everything around him into a wind platform. His body didn’t move away from the Devourer’s body, he continued to twist his sword inside it and finally—
"KKRREEIIIIIEEKKKKKK!!!"
After the monster let out one last screech, it gave in and—
It fell.
Thud
Its body fell to the ground with a loud thud, the ground beneath it shaking from how incredibly heavy it was.
Kael honestly still had no idea how this thing moved this fast with this weight.
And honestly—
He did not care.
He just stood still, enjoying the silence around him. His sword was still buried inside the monster, his own body was covered in monster blood, he was out of breath, his recovery felt slower than usual, his head ached, and the ants’ deaths still weighed him down, emotionally and physically.
Finally, as he let out a loud, desperate, exhausted breath—
[Final Wave Cleared.]
The message appeared.
Kael stared at the words, then, he slowly turned toward the Brood Chamber. The amber shell was still whole.
Imperia was safe.
And as that realisation sank in—
Kael finally smiled.
That was when another message appeared.
[Mission Complete.]
And the instant the message appeared, the Hive became completely silent.
Kael paused at that. He could sense that something was happening, or more accurately, something was about to happen.
Then—
Ba-dump
The Brood Chamber pulsed.
Kael felt the pulse throughout the Hive. Golden light burst from the chamber, the vines around it loosened, then the amber shell opened slowly and then—
She stepped out.
"Ria..."
Kael called out. For a moment, he forgot his pain and took a light step towards her. His little thing did not change much. She was still as precious as before, just as tiny and adorable as before. That made Kael sigh in relief.
He did not like to see his children grow.
However, as he narrowed his eyes, he could still see that something about her had changed.
Her purple eyes now carried a faint golden ring, a delicate, tiny crown-like mark had appeared on her head and it was glowing softly. Her shell looked smoother, stronger, and there were thin golden lines running across it like living veins.
She looked more... majestic.
Like a True Queen.
And she looked adorable.
Kael continued staring at her for a long, long time. She really was one of the best things that had happened to him.
Imperia looked at her father and smiled. Kael smiled back.
Then, the little thing stepped out and the instant she did—
Every remaining ant in the Genesis Hive lowered its body, paying their respect to their mother.
Imperia looked around quietly. For a moment, she looked like a true sovereign, then, however, her eyes fell on Kael again and the majestic feeling disappeared instantly.
"Father!"
She rushed forward.
Kael laughed weakly and opened his arms.
Imperia jumped into him.
"You did it."
He whispered gently. Imperia pressed her head against him.
"Of course."
She nodded confidently.
"My Father protected me, how can I fail?"
"Indeed."
Kael only smiled.
Little Ria truly was... scarily competent.
For now, however, the little thing only placed her head on Kael’s arm, as if she wanted to rest. Kael let her do anything she wanted.
The ants around them kept their bodies down, respecting their mother, the massive corpse of the Undereign Devourer was still behind them, and the Brood Chamber was glowing softly.
But Kael didn’t care.
He, standing at the very centre of all this chaos, only held his daughter.
But then—
[Mission Reward: Baptism of the Hive Sovereign.]
The message appeared again.
Kael looked at the screen and more messages appeared.
[Your mind has survived the burden of carrying a Hive.]
[Your will has commanded hundreds of thousands without breaking.]
[You have protected the Mother of All Ants through her First Metamorphosis.]
[Your mind and soul have been baptized by the Genesis Hive.]
Kael felt a warm power enter his body. Soon, however, the energy moved past his muscles and the Mana in his veins, as if it had nothing to do with them—
It moved deeper.
Inside his mind.
Inside his very... thoughts.
And that was when Kael felt it. Something inside him was changing. The constant pain in his head that he had been feeling ever since he connected to the Swarmmind started to fade away.
Then—
[State Acquired: Sovereign Mind.]
[Your mind can now divide into multiple command streams.]
[You can process large amounts of information, emotions, movement, and battlefield changes without collapsing.]
[Your resistance to mental overload, fear influence, confusion, and command-type pressure has greatly increased.]
Kael raised his eyebrows at those words.
’State Acquired...?’
He wondered.
Was it like a passive skill?
And as the question came, he already had the answer.
Yes, it was a passive skill. He was able to think of a question and the answer at the exact same time.
Two different streams of thoughts, at the same time.
It felt... quite different.
He could see how useful it would be.
Kael was satisfied with the rewards. What he did not know, however—
Was that this wasn’t the only reward he got.
There were more.
