"Since that’s the case..."

Chen Xuan’s words caused the Elder’s eyes to brighten.

Yet just when she expected him to select one of his disciples to step forward and battle one of the native cultivators, Chen Xuan made a surprising decision.

"I accept your offer..."

"However, there is no reason to involve the younger generation in our matters. Since I led them here, I shall fight instead."

Chen Xuan spoke no further, but his words had already said everything.

What he was saying was simple.

I’ll personally fight to decide whether we are strong enough to obtain the inheritance.

Such an answer was surprising.

The Elder had indeed mentioned that any of them could choose to challenge someone from the island.

Yet the Goddess’ Island had only a single Soul Formation cultivator—the Elder herself, who was two stages higher than Chen Xuan.

Even judging by her earlier words, she was not the owner of a Mortal-Grade Law Mark.

Perhaps she possessed an Earth-Grade one, or even a Heaven-Grade.

Combined with her higher cultivation, it seemed impossible for Chen Xuan to defeat her.

As such, no one had expected him to make such a choice.

For a brief moment, even the cultivators standing behind the Elder exchanged glances.

They clearly hadn’t expected their opponent to voluntarily choose the most difficult path available.

The Elder remained silent for several seconds.

It was only after quite some time that she seemed to have fully processed his words.

She didn’t speak immediately.

Instead, she chuckled.

"Hehe. It seems that you don’t understand the gap between Soul Formation experts yet."

"It’s to be expected. You’ve only wandered in the Mortal World, after all. You might not even know about the different Law Mark Grades, much less understand the true gap between them."

She looked utterly disdainful.

The Elder had mentioned the term "Mortal World" several times.

However, she didn’t seem to be referring to the worlds beneath the Immortal World.

Instead, she appeared to be using the term to describe all the worlds outside the secret realm they were currently in.

In her eyes, this place seemed to be equivalent to the Immortal World!

Chen Xuan did not know whether she had a reason for thinking this way or whether she simply thought too highly of herself.

Either way, he didn’t respond to her words.

There was no point arguing.

Sooner or later, strength would provide the clearest answer.

He glanced toward the giant turtle and saw it nod its head imperceptibly.

This brought a smile to his face.

After a brief pause, Chen Xuan transformed into a streak of light and moved away from the Goddess’ Island.

He didn’t go far.

Just far enough for the incoming battle not to affect any of the unfortunate bystanders.

The cultivators on the island also understood his intention.

Several of them moved farther away, while the others watched with solemn expressions.

A split second later, the Elder arrived.

Staring at him, and then at the audience that had gathered around the two, she sneered.

"It’s truly a good thing for young cultivators to be confident in their abilities. But sometimes, you have to possess some self-awareness."

"Still, don’t expect me to show any mercy for the Guardian’s sake." She shook her head.

"How about this? I’ll let you attack first. After that, I won’t hold back at all."

The Elder casually waved her hand dismissively, gesturing for Chen Xuan to attack.

The endless blue sea around them, combined with her beautiful and cold appearance, made her look like a cultivator who had descended from the Immortal World.

Her demeanor alone would make anyone regard her as such, with many men going crazy over her.

However, Chen Xuan was completely unaffected by her appearance or demeanor.

Hearing that she would let him attack first, he didn’t refuse.

He simply nodded.

Then, without any hesitation, he directly took action.

Faced with this so-called immortal fairy, he showed no signs of mercy.

He took action with all his strength.

Immediately, his aura erupted.

What was here was merely his clones, but they could always call upon the strength of Chen Xuan’s true body.

Or rather, they shared the same Law Mark, allowing them to exert the same strength.

This was also why the Elder had long since seen through his "true identity."

His momentum quickly rose.

From the Peak of the Nascent Soul realm, he quickly entered the Soul Formation realm and then took things a step further.

In the end, his clone’s aura became almost identical to that of his true body.

Though weaker than the Elder’s, merely standing at the Middle Stage of Soul Formation, it still seemed capable of contending with her.

This made the Elder narrow her eyes.

Even so, she showed no fear.

She remained floating in the air, calmly waiting for him to attack.

Chen Xuan did not disappoint her.

Whether it was physical strength, mastery of spells and arts, or even treasures, his clones were far weaker than his true body.

They could not compare to him in any of these aspects.

All they could rely on was his Immortal Law Mark.

But in Chen Xuan’s opinion, that was more than enough.

Under his command, Yin and Yang energies from the outside world gathered before him, weaving together into a giant revolving wheel.

Yin-Yang Annihilation.

After so long, this spell that Chen Xuan had learned in the past was being used once more.

Yet it was completely different from the last time he had cast it.

Empowered by the Yin-Yang Law Mark and the Great Yin-Yang Dao Origin, the spell seemed to have broken through its previous shackles, transforming onto an entirely different level.

An overwhelming pressure emanated from the revolving wheel.

The surrounding space seemed to tremble faintly beneath its power.

Even the endless sea below began to churn, as though instinctively reacting to the terrifying force gathering above it.

Before anyone could react, the wheel moved.

It shot toward the Elder at an incredible speed.

Faced with Chen Xuan’s initial outburst, the Elder had remained utterly calm.

She floated in the air with her bare feet dangling beneath her, showing no intention of taking Chen Xuan seriously.

Yet when she saw the phenomenon that followed, and subsequently saw the two-colored wheel, her eyes suddenly shrank.

Alarm bells rang in her heart.

Danger!

Everything screamed danger to her.

Her previous agreement with Chen Xuan was instantly thrown out of the window.

Let him attack?

If she did so without defending herself, she would be seriously injured.

The Elder immediately took action.

She hurriedly waved her hands before her, gathering countless amounts of seawater to form a towering wall of water.

Then, as though she felt that this was still not enough, she unsheathed her weapon.

Surprisingly, it was neither a sword nor a spear.

Instead, it was a weapon with three sharp tips.

A trident!

As the Elder urged her Law Mark and poured her strength into the Magic Weapon, a layer of ice spread outward from her body, freezing everything in its path.

Everything.

The air.

The water particles.

Even space itself seemed to solidify, becoming an almost impenetrable defense.

Yet before Chen Xuan’s strike, both layers of defense seemed underwhelming.

The moment Yin-Yang Annihilation collided with the frozen ice, it instantly broke it down into its purest essence before absorbing it.

Not only did it fail to stop the wheel, but the wheel’s power grew even more terrifying.

This played a major role in the next collision.

Although the layer of water attempted to wrap around the wheel and halt its advance, the strength it had just gained placed it at an absolute advantage.

Bang!

Before long, the seemingly indestructible layer of water shattered as well, meeting the same fate as the ice before it.

The two-colored wheel continued forward without slowing.

It surged toward the Elder with terrifying momentum.

Yet by then, the Elder had already regained her composure.

The brief resistance of Yin-Yang Annihilation had given her the opportunity she needed.

With a bang, her body dispersed into pure water before reappearing several miles away.

The constantly revolving wheel had no way of reaching her.

It could only crash into the ocean, sending countless amounts of seawater flying in every direction.

The impact caused enormous waves to surge outward.

It was only after reaching the bottom of the ocean and grinding away part of the earth beneath that the wheel gradually faded away.

Looking at the scene of destruction before her and feeling the seawater that had fallen upon her, the Elder couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Her intuition told her that if she had met that wheel head-on, she would have been seriously injured, if not worse.

"Fortunately..."

"Fortunately, I reacted fast enough..." she whispered, looking relieved.

However, that emotion did not last long.

Before she could react, another two-colored wheel shot toward her.

More importantly, a black-robed figure had unknowingly appeared behind her.

Holding a pitch-black banner in his hand, he fluttered it gently.

Yet the result was anything but gentle.

Countless howls of bloodthirsty ghosts echoed across the sea as demonic energy soared into the sky.

Chen Xuan’s demonic clone had taken action to assist the righteous body!
