Should he confront the Supreme directly?
The thought crossed Emery’s mind, and for a brief moment he seriously weighed the possibility—not because he feared the outcome, but because he needed to decide whether the risk was worth it.
If matters escalated into a fight he couldn’t win, he still had options. His standing within the Half-Blood Alliance was far from insignificant. There was a reasonable chance he could talk his way out of a fight, and even if the Supreme proved unwilling to listen, Emery refused to believe that he could be captured so easily.
After a moment, he shook his head.
The truth behind the Serpent Supreme remained his objective, and he hadn’t infiltrated this far merely to retreat at the first sign of trouble.
His location already compromised, Emery acted decisively.
With a single powerful strike, he smashed into the already weakened barrier, widening the crack into a gaping breach before the surrounding formations could repair themselves.
At the same instant, all three of his Khaos shadow clones burst into existence.
Without hesitation, they scattered in three different directions, each releasing its aura openly as though it were the real Emery. Their purpose was simple—to fracture the pursuit and force the defenders to divide their attention.
While every eye turned toward the fleeing clones, Emery remained hidden beneath the fading veil of his invisibility talisman. Suppressing every trace of his presence, he headed in the opposite direction, climbing toward the mountain’s summit where the sacred grounds became increasingly isolated.
The higher he ascended, the fewer guards he encountered.
Soon, the dragon knights disappeared altogether, replaced by winding mountain paths swallowed beneath dense white mist. The fog clung to the cliffs like living silk, reducing visibility to only a few dozen meters while strange fluctuations in the surrounding formations distorted one’s sense of direction.
Less than a minute later, Emery felt the first shadow clone disappear.
Its connection to him snapped abruptly before dissolving into nothingness.
Another minute passed.
The second clone was destroyed.
At the same time, the invisibility talisman’s aura flickered around him, its stored energy draining far faster than he had hoped.
Emery silently made a mental note.
The next time he attempted something like this, he would rely on his own mastery of concealment rather than a consumable treasure.
Fortunately, his divine sense remained reliable.
Even within the thick mist, it continued probing the mountain ahead, extending far beyond what his eyes could perceive.
Barely seconds after the third and final clone was eliminated, he found an opening in the fog.
Moments later, Emery stepped onto a broad mountain terrace hidden high near the summit.
The thick mist gradually thinned, revealing an expansive stone platform carved directly into the mountainside. Ancient dragon pillars lined the approach, each wrapped in weathered carvings that still glowed faintly with dormant formations. At the far end stood a massive bronze gate, its surface engraved with countless dragons circling a blazing sun, giving it an appearance strikingly similar to the entrance Emery had passed through earlier.
For a brief moment, he wondered if he had somehow returned to the foot of the mountain.
The five figures standing guard before the gate quickly erased that thought.
All five were Elite Dragon Knights, each wearing silver-gold armor engraved with draconic runes that shimmered faintly beneath the mountain mist. Four radiated the aura of peak One Cosmos Grand Magus, while the man standing at the center carried the far heavier presence of a Two Cosmos cultivator. His armor bore additional golden ornaments and a dragon-crested cloak, marking him as the captain.
The alarm still echoed faintly through the sacred valley, and every knight stood ready.
Rather than waste time fighting, Emery chose the simplest approach.
He accelerated, slipping toward the gate while remaining hidden beneath the fading veil of his invisibility talisman.
He had almost passed them when the captain’s eyes suddenly narrowed.
From within his robes, he produced a fist-sized crystalline orb covered in intricate dragon runes. The artifact pulsed once, then erupted with golden light.
The moment its radiance spread across the terrace, the captain’s battlefield domain expanded alongside it.
The golden domain swept across the area like an invisible tide, colliding directly with the spatial distortions surrounding Emery. Already weakened from prolonged use, the invisibility talisman could no longer withstand the pressure.
It shattered.
Emery’s concealed figure appeared in plain sight.
The captain’s eyes narrowed.
"Intruder!"
His spear slammed against the stone.
"Detain him!"
The four Dragon Knights moved instantly, surging forward in perfect formation. Their movements were so synchronized that it was obvious they had trained together for years.
Emery had no intention of becoming entangled with them.
[Spectral Gaze].
Invisible spiritual pressure erupted from his eyes, freezing the four charging knights for a fraction of a second. That brief opening was all he needed.
His figure blurred forward.
One strike.
Then another.
Then two more.
Four heavy blows landed almost simultaneously, launching the Dragon Knights backward; shattered stone exploded across the terrace.
Emery never broke stride.
His true target had always been the captain.
Once again, [Spectral Gaze] flared.
This time, however, the result was very different.
The captain let out a thunderous dragon roar, forcibly breaking through the spiritual pressure as four enormous golden spectral wyrms erupted around his spear, circling him like living guardians before lunging forward together.
Emery’s eyes narrowed.
Dragon bloodline was indeed powerfull.
A Tier 7 spear. A battlefield domain strengthened by a specialized detection artifact. Strength already approaching the Three Cosmos realm.
This captain was no ordinary Dragon Knight.
He must be one of the Dragon Clan’s prodigies.
Every instinct urged Emery to answer with his own weapon.
Excalibur.
His hand almost reached for it before he stopped himself.
No.
He was still operating under a concealed identity, and the last thing he wanted was to reveal himself through a weapon or bloodline that too many people would recognize. Every move from this point onward had to remain something no one could trace back to Emery Ambrose.
Fortunately, he had prepared for exactly this situation.
He reached instead for the power of Khaos and called upon one of its Guardians.
"Killgragah."
Dark smoke poured from the void around him, folding inward as though drawn by an invisible vortex before erupting into black flames. Within the inferno, the silhouette of a colossal dragon slowly emerged, its massive body seemingly forged entirely from living darkness and fire. The dragon hovered behind Emery, its burning crimson eyes gazing coldly across the battlefield as waves of draconic pressure rolled outward.
To anyone watching, the aura resembled that of a dragon halfblood.
Exactly as Emery had intended.
Killgragah’s power flowed into his body, black flames wrapping around his arm before gathering within his palm.
Its power surged as Emery drew upon [Blazwind Dragon Palm], the martial technique Typhon had taught him. Black flames coiled around his forearm before taking the shape of a dragon’s claw, each strike carrying not only overwhelming force but the savage dominance of a true dragon.
Golden spear met burning claw.
The collision shook the entire terrace.
Shockwaves rippled outward as spear and palm clashed again and again, sparks of golden light scattering through the curtain of black flames. The Dragon Knight Captain’s spear technique was exquisite, every thrust swift and precise, while Emery answered with relentless close-range pressure, each palm strike forcing the captain another step backward.
More than half a dozen exchanges flashed by in the span of a breath.
Then Emery found his opening.
Three consecutive Dragon Palm strikes crashed into the captain’s defenses, each heavier than the last, before a spinning kick struck squarely against the captain’s chest.
BOOM!!
The Dragon Knight Captain was launched across the gate, smashing through a stone pillar before skidding to a stop dozens of meters away.
By then, the other four guards had already recovered.
Without a word, they moved as one.
A battle formation snapped into existence around Emery as four golden wyrms circled him in a tightening ring. The captain rose again almost immediately, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth as he thrust his spear skyward. A fifth spectral wyrm erupted from its tip, completing the formation and merging all five dragons into a single overwhelming killing technique.
The pressure around Emery multiplied.
He answered with a roar of his own.
"Killgragah!"
The Khaos Guardian responded instantly.
Black dragonfire exploded outward, the colossal phantom dragon unleashing a deafening roar as waves of Khaos flame burst from Emery’s body. The golden formation collapsed under the torrent, one wyrm after another shattering into fragments of light.
Emery emerged through the storm of black flames without slowing.
His palms struck five times in rapid succession.
Each blow carried the weight of a dragon’s claw.
The remaining spectral wyrms exploded apart, and the five Dragon Knights were sent crashing to the ground almost simultaneously, their formation broken beyond recovery.
Silence returned to the terrace.
Emery stood alone before the gate.
He did not attempt to enter.
Instead, he straightened his robes and spoke toward the quiet valley beyond with calm respect.
"I wonder if Senior has been entertained enough."
The wind shifted.
The drifting mist across the valley slowed, then began to gather toward a single point, spiraling inward as though drawn by an invisible force. Within moments, it condensed into an imposing elderly man. There was nothing outwardly extravagant about his appearance, yet the moment he arrived, the entire valley seemed to grow quieter
A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"I’m still guessing," he said leisurely.
"Which dragon clan are you from?"
