Francine’s face turns even redder. "I... I didn’t use them as pawns!"
"How could you not?" Mabel Quinn sneers. "If you weren’t trying to drag everyone in, you could have just said I was targeting you, without implying I’d get rid of you today and others tomorrow. What are you trying to achieve with such words, if not to drag everyone into the mess?"
Everyone thinks this over and agrees it makes sense, showing more disapproval towards Francine.
Francine realizes she not only failed to turn Mabel into the public enemy but has now become the target herself. She glares at Mabel venomously and suddenly laughs, "I want to speak with you alone."
"I have nothing to say to you alone," Mabel says, signaling to the bodyguard, who understands and starts leading Francine out of the film set.
Francine hastily says, "Don’t you want to know something related to Kyle Kinston?"
Mabel hasn’t responded yet, but the bodyguard pauses because Francine mentioned Elder Kinston.
Mabel looks at Francine, who has a smug smile on her face, "Don’t you want to know what past he has? If I say it here, there are quite a few people around. Aren’t you worried about it having a bad impact? I’m doing you a favor by wanting to discuss it privately."
"Is his past that important?" Mabel chuckles, questioning Francine. "I care about his future, not his past. Besides, my curiosity isn’t as intense as you imagine."
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll speak out and others will hear?" Francine asks.
"So what if they hear? If they hear, does it mean they’ll believe it? If I say something about your past now, will people believe it? If that’s the case, wouldn’t everyone believe the rumors online?" Mabel says.
Francine is momentarily speechless.
Just then, a figure rushes over and stands by Mabel’s side. Who else could it be but Kyle Kinston?
"How are you?" Kyle asks, holding Mabel’s arm.
"I... uh, I’m fine," Mabel responds, though it seems more relevant to ask how Francine is! "Why are you here?"
"After finishing some work, I wanted to come see you, but got a call midway, saying Francine is with you," Kyle explains, which is why he drove over quickly.
Mabel guesses it’s the bodyguard who called Kyle.
Francine’s gaze burns into Kyle; the man in front of her only ever cares for Mabel, even though she stands before him, he looks at her with nothing but disgust.
Just like... right now...
"Francine, what are you doing here?"
The cold voice and the look of disdain make Francine shiver involuntarily.
