"Then please, drink for me, and also let Mabel know that I wish her happiness, sincerely," Daniel Harris said.
After saying these words, Daniel took his son and continued walking towards the exit of the venue. The little boy still had no expression on his face, as if everything around him couldn’t pique his interest.
"By the way, what’s your son’s name? I still don’t know it!" Alice Conley couldn’t help but ask.
"Levi Harris," Daniel replied, and as he said the name, the little boy seemed to finally have some reaction, slightly lifting his head, but that was the extent of his response.
What a strange child, Alice thought. Because of this, Mabel wouldn’t be able to meet Daniel’s son today.
But there should be chances in the future. Perhaps when Daniel had the child with another woman, it was his way of cutting off all lingering thoughts.
Alice turned around and returned to the banquet hall.
Daniel led his son out of the venue, where a car was already waiting at the front entrance. The two got into the car, and Daniel gently patted his son’s head. Many people attended the banquet today, including quite a few children, but in such an environment, his son still seemed to show little reaction to the outside world.
"You can’t always be like this," Daniel said. "You know how to speak, right? Why don’t you greet others?"
But Levi seemed not to hear, just lowered his head, took out a Rubik’s cube, and started turning it. His hands moved quickly, making the cube scramble from neat colors to a jumbled state, but soon it was perfectly restored again.
Daniel sighed, his son was smart but didn’t like communicating with people. He knew how to talk but rarely spoke, unless he really wanted something or was hungry, only then would he ask for something; otherwise, it was hard to hear him say anything.
Daniel had taken his son to see a doctor, and the doctor said it might be due to the orphanage environment. Of course, if his condition continued to develop, it could become severe, possibly turning into autism.
He often took his son to crowded and lively places, or places with many children of the same age, hoping his son would speak more, but it seemed to have little effect.
"Alright, if you don’t want to speak, I won’t force you, but one day you’ll understand—if you don’t even have someone you want to talk to, it’s a very sad thing."
"I won’t," the young voice sounded slightly rusty from rarely speaking, with eyes similar to Daniel’s lifting to look at him. "I won’t be sad," his tone was very assured, as if he lived only within his own world.
After saying this, the little one lowered his head again and continued to play with his Rubik’s cube.
Daniel furrowed his brows slightly, with worry in his eyes.
Outside the wedding venue, there were still many people and reporters waiting. Amongst them, there was a figure dressed ordinarily, wearing a baseball cap blending in. If you didn’t know her, you wouldn’t think she was once the eldest daughter of the Howards Family from Falling City.
Francine Howards’ gaze was venomous, staring at the lavishly decorated venue. Today was the wedding day of Mabel Quinn and Kyle Kinston, with a congregation of guests and luxurious arrangements, such splendor.
