Chapter 1096: Dragon Peak Inn (18)

'So just how massive was the object of this Ancient Dragon Faith?'

After sitting and leaning against it for half a minute, Fu Qian let out a heartfelt sigh.

His current location was a grand, Church-like building.

Unlike an ordinary church, however, its central focal point contained neither a Sacred Emblem nor a divine statue. Taking their place was a Golden Seat even larger than a bed.

The seat's design was equally striking in its extreme austerity. Not a single pattern or carving graced its surface; at a glance, it was nothing but an endless array of right angles.

Fu Qian had originally wanted to strike a posture that looked down upon the world, but after some effort, he found the experience unspeakably awkward.

Regardless, the layout strongly suggested that some entity was poised to directly Descend upon it at any moment.

'Is the legendary Ancient Dragon Faith actually so approachable that it meets with believers whenever it has free time?'

'No wonder it managed to develop such a massive cluster of Ruins.'

For one, he didn't seem to need to advance any further.

The appearance of the Ancient Giant Dragon would likely be accompanied by more Soul Butterflies, and undoubtedly, more hunters as well.

Now was the time to hold down the Great Hall and begin strategizing within the command tent.

A moment later, sitting on the Golden Seat, Fu Qian sensed something and looked up.

It was a wondrous sensation. Even though the towering dome blocked his view, he could still see a pair of massive, long wings sweep across a sky filled with boundless Bright Light.

'Not bad at all.'

'Is the legendary Ancient Giant Dragon actually this cooperative?'

Realizing that this rare, extraordinary creature had actually made its entrance, Fu Qian marveled, observing it with rapt attention to ensure he missed no detail.

Those wings didn't block the Bright Light in the slightest. Despite their exaggerated size, they were as clear and translucent as a Soul Butterfly.

In fact, it went beyond mere resemblance... Under the perception of his Demigod Realm, as he 'gazed' at that wondrous sight, Fu Qian finally understood why Soul Butterflies multiplied wherever the Ancient Giant Dragon appeared.

On those massive wings, every single geometrically perfect scale was identical to the wing of a Soul Butterfly.

'So the reason they only have a single wing is because they're literally formed from dragon scales?'

'What a wondrous transformation.'

It was just a pity that this thing was exactly as Old Man Tyr had said—not very aggressive.

After its awe-inspiring debut, the majority of its body showed no intention of emerging from that golden river. A moment later, even its wings retracted into it.

However, right before the Ancient Giant Dragon faded away completely, Fu Qian felt a pair of colorless eyes gaze upon him, as if piercing through layers of spatial and temporal veils.

In that instant, the scene he had previously seen in the Reflection on the Soul Butterfly wings mirrored itself deep within his consciousness once more, accompanied by a bewilderment that far surpassed his earlier experience.

...

'It has divinity, but not much.'

His sitting posture completely unchanged, Fu Qian effortlessly resisted the urge to swat bugs and offered his silent appraisal.

Elena's assessment had been quite accurate. Although this thing looked incredibly imposing, at its core, it was nothing more than a condensation of special power. It was absolutely not the same thing as a Divine Entity.

With ample preparation, hunting it wouldn't be impossible.

As he made his appraisal, Fu Qian reached out and lightly grasped at the empty air in front of him.

A split second later, a supremely sharp Spike materialized out of thin air, caught directly in his grip.

The power imbued within the Spike was staggering, but caught in Fu Qian's grasp, it could not advance a single fraction of an inch.

The aggressiveness of this Ancient Giant Dragon seemed to vary; it actually possessed a bit of a challenging spirit, turning fiercer against stronger foes.

After gazing at him, it had instantly changed its tune, suddenly radiating murderous intent.

This long spear, carrying a unique piercing force, didn't just travel in absolute silence. Before it was blocked, it seemed to lack any physical form altogether. It was perfectly suited for a sneak attack.

To maximize the effectiveness of its ambush, not only had the dragon looked away at the last second, it had even submerged its entire body into the golden river. By all appearances, it had been quietly slipping away.

'If it weren't for the combat fundamentals of a professional task runner like me, along with my astonishing perception, either my soul or my flesh would have been punched full of holes by now.'

'Does it really hate targets possessing divinity this much?'

Applying force with his hand, Fu Qian instantly shattered the long spear into nothingness.

In Fu Qian's eyes, this was the most likely explanation. The creature had only developed killing intent after discovering his Demigod Rank.

And right now, a slender dragon covered in fine, transparent scales—looking as though it had been forged from ice crystals—had fully revealed itself high above him.

With its sneak attack having failed, the legendary creature stopped pretending. A dazzling, mesmerizing light was now gathering upon its spread wings.

Boom!

It was no longer a formless, traceless ambush. In the next moment, this towering, majestic building was directly smashed through by a crystal-clear Meteor, which hurtled straight toward him with world-destroying momentum and unabated force.

'Bring it on!'

Unfortunately, following a cold scoff, this strike—like a flying star from beyond the heavens—halted in mid-air once again. A single palm steadfastly blocked its path.

Meanwhile, a pale gray eye in the center of that palm rolled and swiveled, reflecting the radiant figure from where the meteorite had come.

Facing a meteorite with power far surpassing the long spear, Fu Qian hadn't even stood up, forcibly blocking it head-on.

"Did you think just anyone could sit in this seat?"

With a disdainful sneer, Fu Qian crushed his hand inward. The seemingly indestructible meteorite emitted a teeth-aching screech before violently detonating a few seconds later, following in the footsteps of the long spear.

"Lu Mou has roamed the jianghu for decades, and the people I despise the most are those who play the ghost to feign the divine. If you want my seat, come down here so we can have a proper face-to-face chat."

It was a pity that this voice, brimming with heroic spirit, ultimately fell on deaf ears.

The giant winged lizard in mid-air, after a brief moment of stunned silence, actually mimicked taking a deep breath.

With its Meteor proving equally ineffective, it seemed prepared to unleash a dragon's legendary standard skill—a breath attack.

Unfortunately, Fu Qian ultimately never got to see what an entity of this design would spit out.

The next moment, a glowing white arrow radiating an aura of endless holiness pierced the sky, plunging straight into the giant dragon's belly.

'Sure enough, a clear target!'

Fu Qian didn't even need to look to know that this was the Angel drawing a bow to hunt a dragon.

The Blind Idiot Squad was indeed the first to arrive.

And that strike just now had clearly been loosed by Lorraine.

Struck by an unquestionable Demigod Realm killer move, the breath the Ancient Giant Dragon had been brewing was instantly interrupted. Countless illusory white feathers even exploded outward from where the arrow hit.

And before those feathers could even dissipate, that massive figure had already vanished from its spot.
