"Recognize it?"
Fu Qian glanced at Rachel, who was frantically dealing with a drop of corrosive acid that had splashed onto her.
From their few interactions, it was clear that her methods were primarily Psychic Type, and her physical combat skills were lacking.
Her luck held out this time, however; that multi-mouthed giant ray hadn't targeted her right away.
And most of the acid it subsequently sprayed was blocked by a shield of mingled frost and fire.
This familiar power clearly came from the Bio-Booster Armor on her shoulder.
"I don't..."
Finally peeling off her outer leather jacket and tossing it into the sea, Rachel answered Fu Qian's question in complete earnest, despite not knowing his intent.
"I've never heard of a monster like this."
With a sigh, Fu Qian put on an expression of mild understanding.
The next moment, his figure vanished from the spot once again.
He went again?
Rachel gaped at this seemingly familiar scene. Fu Qian, who a second ago had just expressed that the monster's behavior was understandable, had already leaped high into the air once more.
Boom!
This time, however, the explosive blast occurred in midair.
Before his figure could enter the sea, the pursuing monster reacted.
Almost all of its oral spikes whipped wildly, surging up simultaneously from every angle to intercept him.
This thing was obviously far more ferocious than the fishmen!
Yet, just as he was about to be riddled with holes, Mister Fang neither dodged nor evaded. Instead, he opened his mouth and unleashed a deafening roar.
'I admit that roar is certainly imposing, but—'
The doubt in the spectators' minds vanished in a flash. They saw those Spikes suddenly lose direction, twitching as if electrocuted.
And through the gap that opened up, he plummeted like a Meteor, smashing right into the midst of those giant mouths.
"Judging from its reaction, the brain should be here."
Muttering to himself, Fu Qian casually grabbed one of the Spikes whipping wildly out of control. Yanking on it, he took two steps forward and looked down at his feet.
That roar just now, of course, hadn't been just to scare it.
Although he had always spread the gospel with a low profile, in this situation, roaring it out obviously had a bit more flair.
And facts proved that all things in creation were capable of being enlightened.
Under the shockwave, this deformed beast native to the Ash Sea instantly began thrashing about in sheer elation.
As for the reaction Fu Qian spoke of, it was naturally the creature's brains practically boiling over under the full power of the Gospel Shockwave.
No, they were already boiling.
Seeing the twitching of the Spikes ease slightly as they began to aim at him once more, Fu Qian remained entirely unfazed by the danger. He twisted his body, gathered his strength, and stomped down.
Boom!
A massive crash, no less deafening than his previous roar, rang out.
The absurdly thick bone carapace beneath his feet was forcefully caved in, leaving a crater several meters in diameter.
Amidst an agonizing howl, a red-and-white mixture erupted skyward from the breach.
Even having stepped off to the side, Fu Qian could feel that volcanic passion.
Before the gore could splatter onto him, he stomped again, using the recoil to land precisely back onto the ship, which was currently spinning from the impact.
"Do you want to watch for a little longer?"
Offering a slight nod to the dumbfounded crowd, Fu Qian sat back down in his original seat, casually crossing one leg over the other as he asked.
However, before anyone could answer, he casually swapped which leg was crossed without changing his expression.
That stomp just now had certainly been stylish, but the violent recoil had also directly obliterated more than half the shoe on that foot.
While a real man didn't care much about his image, it still somewhat undermined his intimidating aura.
...
"Lane, shouldn't we get going?"
The first to regain the ability to speak was actually the most junior member, Ms. Rachel.
Her recovery was so fast that one had to wonder if Li Min had given her some sort of freezing stimulus.
But regardless, even though her face was still pale, she currently bore an unconcealable trace of joy, and her momentum when speaking to Lane was much stronger.
It was obvious that, as grasshoppers tied to the same string, this scene meant she no longer had to worry about her own safety in the event Mister Fang was taken out.
Mainly because this particular grasshopper was simply too terrifying!
"Yeah..."
Lane, who had finally regained his speech, looked as awful as if his balls had been crushed.
Of course, this didn't stop him from professionally stabilizing the ship and quickly sailing out of the blast radius of the erupting brain matter.
"Still heading that way?"
It wasn't until the singing echoed out once more over the furiously advancing battered ship that Lane finally spoke with difficulty, watching Fu Qian carefully.
Although the fishmen's heroic pursuit had completely halted after that stomp just now, this was no longer a matter of escaping being hunted.
For someone in the poaching business, his eye for danger naturally couldn't be poor. Even if that monster just now hadn't been a Divine Being, it was absolutely not far off—yet it had been executed with a single stomp.
Its ferocity and violence had even stomped the bloodthirsty fishmen into total silence.
He had previously considered finding a suitable opportunity to use this guy as a scout, but looking at it now, the man possessed the ability to slaughter their entire crew single-handedly.
His various words and actions might have stemmed from a twisted sense of humor, but regardless, he could already be considered polite.
The only thing they could do now was follow his orders absolutely, pinning their hopes on the chance that he wouldn't mind their prior offenses.
"Do as you please."
Glancing at the now much-thinned group, Fu Qian couldn't be bothered to waste words. His mind was focused on another matter entirely.
Aside from those fishmen, wasn't the density of native creatures inside this Shattered Crown a little too sparse?
"Maintain heading! Full speed ahead!"
Only those with the capital to back it up could do as they pleased. Naturally, Lane didn't interpret this to mean they could wander aimlessly, and he immediately roared his orders.
...
"What is that?"
The ensuing journey could only be called monotonous and silent. The retreating fishmen never reappeared, nor did they encounter any further ambushes.
While the members of the Poaching Collective rejoiced at this as they performed their duties, their unease continued to fester.
Even the slowest among them had basically figured out their situation by now.
Not only were they trapped in a maze with no way out, but they also had a god of slaughter sitting right on their ship.
One they had just recently offended, at that.
In the stifling atmosphere, even the rather unpleasant singing temporarily became much more pleasing to the ear.
And just as this singing drew nearer and nearer, someone pointed forward and cried out in alarm.
There, in yet another distinctly bounded area of the sea, a rather sizable Floating Island had shockingly appeared.
And its biggest difference from the previous ones was that this island was unexpectedly covered in a dense thicket of trees.
Trees that were a dim grayish-white, just like the Floating Island beneath them.
These existences, which shouldn't fundamentally be living things, looked exaggeratedly realistic. At a glance, they actually gave off a considerable sense of flourishing vitality.
More than one towering giant "tree" could be seen among them.
It was clearly late in the day over this stretch of sea. The mild sunlight slanted across the woods, its reflection creating a crystal-clear, translucent feeling.
The singing was drifting out from this very forest.
