It really was her...
With the perception of a Demigod, Yuan Shan realized it the moment Fu Qian pointed it out.
The dancer showing off her figure on the stage was one of the two women they had encountered at the entrance.
If memory served, those two had just stepped out of the casino, hadn't they?
"Earning money and spending it on the spot. She really knows how to balance business and pleasure,"
Fu Qian remarked, clicking his tongue in admiration.
"Your observational skills are truly astonishing. I finally believe in your 'artistic intuition'!"
Yuan Shan couldn't resist teasing him. Without waiting for him to defend himself, she continued.
"Are you thinking we should ask her a few questions?"
"Yeah. There are obviously quite a few rooms here, likely meant for serving VIPs in private."
Fu Qian gestured off to the side.
"Even if our friend Alan really isn't here, it wouldn't hurt to gather a little more information."
"Let's do it your way, then."
Yuan Shan clearly agreed with this reasoning.
"But she seems a bit busy. Should we find a way to interrupt?"
She was a woman of action; having made her decision, she didn't want to wait a single second.
"Let's wait a bit. She was already performing when we arrived, so it shouldn't take much longer. Interrupting right now would just piss people off, staff and customers alike."
Fu Qian shook his head, pacifying the increasingly unrestrained Chief Yuan.
"We can ask for a photo with her later."
"Alright... You sure know a lot about this, don't you?"
Yuan Shan quickly accepted the suggestion, though she merely stood to the side, refusing to sit down.
"Just the basics."
Unfortunately, his thick skin was impenetrable, and he immediately responded with a look of modest humility.
...
"You two..."
Just as Fu Qian had predicted, the performance ended a few minutes later.
When the two of them approached for a photo at the end, the short-haired dancer was initially startled by Yuan Shan's gender. Then, upon getting a clear look at her face, she froze completely.
In fact, she wasn't the only one. The audience members, completely engrossed in the show just moments prior, sported quite colorful expressions themselves when they realized a female enthusiast was among them.
"Great dancing."
Fu Qian didn't give her time to think. He casually flicked a chip over to her and offered his praise.
The two chips he had kept were the highest denomination from Moglin's pile. It was an incredibly generous tip, and his compliment was entirely genuine.
In Fu Qian's eyes, she truly was a fantastic dancer. She had clearly put a lot of effort into maintaining her physique, making the performance well worth the price.
"For me?"
The short-haired dancer scrambled to catch the chip. When she saw the denomination clearly, a look of sheer disbelief crossed her face.
"I'd also like to ask you about something,"
Fu Qian said with a nod, gesturing for her to step aside.
...
The dancer hesitated, but ultimately couldn't bring herself to return the chip. She followed the two of them to the side.
"Coridia."
They had heard people calling out her name during the performance, though it was undoubtedly a pseudonym.
"We're looking for a man named Alan. He's quite fond of this club, but we didn't spot your regular when we came in."
Fu Qian didn't bother describing Alan's appearance. Coridia was clearly a veteran employee; there was no way she wouldn't recognize such a specific customer.
"Ever since Alan struck it rich, he's rarely been satisfied with just watching the public performances."
Coridia answered straightforwardly. She clearly didn't think this was a secret worth keeping.
Just as expected!
Yuan Shan, who had remained silent the whole time, exchanged a glance with Fu Qian.
"So he's here today?"
"I definitely saw him come in, but I didn't notice if he left."
Coridia thought back for a moment, her tone slightly uncertain.
"Thanks for your help."
Fu Qian didn't ask any further questions. He simply flicked his remaining chip over to her.
"This is for me too?"
Such excessive generosity made Coridia hesitate to accept it.
"You can go change."
Fu Qian couldn't be bothered to waste words and directly shooed her away.
...
Coridia's mind raced as she reviewed her answers. Confirming she hadn't violated any major rules, she finally felt safe enough to pocket the second chip and hurried off.
Their incredibly brief exchange hadn't drawn any attention, either.
"He probably hasn't left yet,"
Yuan Shan offered her opinion as she watched Coridia walk away.
"I think so too."
Fu Qian looked around.
"It hasn't been that long since we ran into this staff member outside, and he arrived after she returned."
"It's hard to imagine anyone coming to a wonderful place like this and leaving in a hurry... They even provide breakfast, after all."
"...Should we check inside?"
Yuan Shan shot Fu Qian a glance.
The detail about breakfast was something he had specifically asked about when paying their entry fee earlier.
"Let's go."
...
The private room area was naturally guarded by staff.
Unfortunately for them, this wasn't an issue at all for two Demigods.
Especially under such dim lighting.
In fact, the only reason they hadn't barged straight in to look for him earlier was because Chief Yuan clearly wasn't very enthusiastic about the idea.
Now that they were practically certain their target was inside, she had to endure whatever sights they might stumble upon.
A few seconds later, the two of them appeared in the narrow Corridor.
"Around thirty years old, pale complexion?"
Fu Qian double-checked their target's description with Yuan Shan, and she nodded in confirmation.
"Let's check this way."
Taking a couple of steps forward, Fu Qian pulled out Mercy once more and listened closely to the beat of the music outside.
Click!
Perfectly synchronized with a heavy bass beat, he forcefully shoved open a door beside them.
His timing was so impeccably precise that the two people inside didn't realize their private session had been interrupted until he was already in the room.
Shh!
Before the woman could even scream, Fu Qian raised a finger to his lips and made sure she got a clear look at the gun in his hand.
Mmph...
The very next moment, the scream rising in the woman's throat was forcefully smothered by her customer.
Perfect!
Watching this scene with satisfaction, Fu Qian cocked the hammer of his gun and aimed it at the man—a young guy in his early thirties whose complexion was suddenly much less pale.
"Alan?"
"I am..."
The man was clearly panicking, but he knew what was good for him and honestly admitted his identity.
"But I don't know you people."
"What does that matter?"
Fu Qian smiled and walked over to take a seat, while Yuan Shan closed the door securely behind them.
"We don't know you either, do we?"
"...Then what do you want with me?"
This line of logic clearly caused Alan's brain to short-circuit a little.
"Just want to ask a few questions."
Fu Qian didn't beat around the bush.
"Is it about Midas?"
Alan was taken aback by this and immediately fired back with a question of his own.
"What makes you say that?"
Fu Qian remained noncommittal.
"Because over the past two days, more than half the people who have come looking for me were asking about him."
Alan suddenly looked much more relaxed. He pushed the woman whose mouth he had been covering to the side, motioning for her to stay quiet.
The woman had clearly grasped the basics of the situation. She carefully sat off to the side, making no further attempts to scream.
"But the problem is, he isn't around here anymore."
