"Haha!"
Fu Qian's words caught Deng Feizhou off guard for a second before he burst into laughter.
"Then I'd love to see for myself—"
He cut off mid-sentence, his eyes going wide as he stared at Fu Qian.
The other man had just calmly stood up. He even took a couple of steps forward.
How is this possible? I clearly had him trapped!
Deng Feizhou stared at Fu Qian in disbelief.
The next moment, a brilliant torch flared in his vision.
Radiant golden light engulfed Fu Qian's entire body. For a fleeting second, he looked like a deity descending from the heavens, inspiring an overwhelming urge to kneel and worship.
In an instant, Deng Feizhou felt his thoughts turn like rusted gears, grinding along at a snail's pace. His entire consciousness was flooded by that radiant, holy light.
How could it be?
When dealing with a guy like you, how could I not make a few extra preparations?
Shaking his head, Fu Qian stepped forward. His finger shot out like a spear, piercing straight through Deng Feizhou's waist.
From the moment he walked through the door and countered Deng Feizhou's initial probe, he had used the Biochemical Demonic Arm as cover to quietly activate Commandment Residue.
Under normal circumstances, this skill was undoubtedly useless.
Not only did it take an agonizingly long time to take effect, but its power was also severely diminished against a transcendent.
The one advantage, however, was how completely unnoticeable it was.
Figuring he had nothing to lose, Fu Qian had simply decided to test it out.
"I really didn't expect you to be so cooperative. Once I realized you were intentionally stalling for time, I figured I might as well chat with you a little longer."
As it turned out, Deng Feizhou had engaged in a heart-to-heart conversation with him, completely oblivious to the trap.
After sitting at such close range for so long, the skill finally began to take effect.
Initially, Fu Qian hadn't been sure how much of an impact Commandment Residue would actually have.
It wasn't until Deng Feizhou secretly laid a trap to restrain him—leaving a massive, glaring loophole without even realizing it—that Fu Qian knew for sure the skill had taken hold.
That was why, the moment the man laid his cards on the table, Fu Qian decisively activated Mythical Form.
Praise the Sun ×1!
Compounded with the residual influence, Deng Feizhou's mental defenses were finally crushed.
As for the finer details, Deng Feizhou was already losing consciousness. But even if he could understand, Fu Qian had no intention of explaining it to him.
This was an opportunity he had bought with 1 SAN Value; there was no way he was going to waste it on idle chatter.
Staring at Deng Feizhou's impaled body, Fu Qian didn't even retract his hand before directly activating Visceral Attack.
Blood splattered everywhere!
Deng Feizhou slowly lowered his head, staring numbly at the terrifying wound on his body.
Countless pink fleshy tendrils writhed along the edges of the wound, desperately trying to repair his severely damaged body.
Only then did he finally register a trace of pain.
Before he could say a word, an invisible Air Bullet blasted his head to pieces.
Deng Feizhou's body collapsed to the floor.
In the spreading pool of blood, the shattered flesh and bone rapidly converged, attempting to knit back together with unimaginable vitality.
But with his consciousness already shattered, the more the flesh writhed, the less human it looked. It eventually twisted into a grotesque, pulsating ball of meat and blood.
Without hesitation, Fu Qian activated Visceral Attack again.
After three consecutive strikes, the writhing flesh finally lost its vitality.
This heavyweight of the Origin Council finally melted into puddles of colorless liquid and seeped beneath the floorboards.
"Done!"
Fu Qian glanced at the clock on the wall and nodded in satisfaction.
Exactly two and a half minutes had passed.
He had perfectly fulfilled his promise.
Thinking back on it, the guy had been incredibly sinister.
He had talked a good game, praising Fu Qian as a once-in-a-millennium prodigy.
But behind the flattery, he was just stalling for time, waiting for Chen Xing to arrive so they could kill him.
In Deng Feizhou's eyes, Fu Qian had been nothing more than a prime piece of experimental material.
Still, to keep Fu Qian's attention, the man had leaked quite a bit of valuable information. It wasn't a total loss.
It was one minute to eight.
The newly advanced demigod, Chen Xing, would arrive shortly.
Fu Qian thought for a moment. Instead of fleeing, he stepped forward and righted the table and chairs that had been knocked over.
Are you kidding me?
The target delivered himself right to my doorstep. How could I walk away from a good thing like this?
Though the brief skirmish had been dangerous, their movements hadn't been large. The room had suffered almost no damage, and after a quick tidying up, nothing looked out of the ordinary.
Once everything was in place, Fu Qian sat down right in Deng Feizhou's seat.
He didn't even try to disguise himself as Deng Feizhou. Leaning back in the chair, Fu Qian gazed lazily at the front door, silently waiting for Chen Xing's arrival.
At exactly eight o'clock, the doorbell chimed.
Rather than getting up to answer it, Fu Qian simply extended a single finger.
The tip of his finger rapidly elongated into a tentacle, nimbly turning the handle and opening the door.
The newly advanced demigod, Chen Xing, stood outside. He peered into the room, his expression grave.
"Come in."
Fu Qian deliberately held off on retracting the tentacle right away, instead letting it slowly recoil.
Chen Xing's gaze tracked the writhing appendage the entire time. Only when Fu Qian's finger returned to normal did he finally step inside.
He took the bait!
Fu Qian remained completely expressionless, but he nodded inwardly.
The reason he hadn't tried to disguise himself as Deng Feizhou was simple: the man standing before him was a demigod.
He highly doubted a flimsy wall could block a demigod's perception, nor did he believe his mask's disguise capabilities could fool him.
If he had tried to fake it, Chen Xing would have seen through it immediately and realized Deng Feizhou was dead.
The most likely outcome was that Chen Xing would turn and flee, and it would be virtually impossible for Fu Qian to make him stay.
Chen Xing would retreat to his manor and remain on high alert, making it exponentially harder to track him down and assassinate him later.
That was why Fu Qian had chosen to sit there bare-faced and deliberately display his tentacle.
There was a high probability that Deng Feizhou had shown off his severed-finger trick to Chen Xing in the past.
Seeing the tentacle, Chen Xing's immediate assumption would be that Fu Qian was affiliated with Deng Feizhou.
Given the lack of any struggle in the room, the demigod would likely step inside to investigate and figure out exactly what was going on.
And that would set the stage for Fu Qian to impersonate another member of the Origin Council.
"Have a seat."
Fu Qian exhaled smoothly, gesturing for the older man to sit opposite him.
After scrutinizing Fu Qian for a long time, Chen Xing finally sat down.
"Where is Deng Feizhou?"
"The Night Watchers have been a little too active lately. To avoid any accidents, he had to leave."
Fu Qian stated expressionlessly.
"Why didn't he inform me beforehand?"
Old Man Chen was clearly on high alert, firing back immediately.
"It was an emergency. We had to minimize any suspicious contact."
"You are actually a member of the Origin Council?"
"Is that so surprising? If I hadn't stepped in earlier, do you really think you could have shaken Yuan Shan's suspicions?"
Fu Qian scoffed, subtly hinting that his earlier slap to Chen Mingda's face had been orchestrated by Deng Feizhou.
"Or are you planning to seek revenge for your son's death?"
Hmph!
At the mention of Chen Mingda, a flash of pain crossed Chen Xing's eyes. He shook his head and let out a long sigh.
"Don't worry, I know how to weigh the scales. For the sake of the family, some sacrifices are necessary."
"The Chen Family has been without a demigod for far too long—so long that even our own people have begun to doubt our bloodline and heritage... Mingda will understand."
