Chapter 1304: Shattering Strike

That was why the saying "character determines destiny" made perfect sense.

Given his previous suspicious behavior, everyone was clearly listening intently to Fu Qian's words.

That naturally included Amira and Reginald, who, still profoundly shaken by what they had just experienced, couldn't resist returning to the edge of the path to check for traces.

Unsurprisingly, they found nothing. But upon hearing that the entity had doubled back, their reactions were vastly different.

Amira clearly had more faith in the inherent goodness of human nature. Realizing what Fu Qian meant, and given their previous experience, she instinctively leaped toward the side of the road.

Reginald, on the other hand, reacted with far more restraint.

His gaze sharpened instantly as he watched the road, but he also kept a close eye on Fu Qian, seemingly guarding against any sudden tricks.

Even the previously shattered Serpent of Lead Flame flared to life around his body once more.

Yet, amidst a dull thud, both of them suffered the same fate as before, knocked flying into the air.

Of course, compared to last time, the severity of the impact was noticeably different.

Amira had merely been grazed on her side. She didn't even fall completely; after a quick roll, she barely managed to maintain her balance.

On the other hand, Excellency Reginald had taken the brunt of the blow. Sent hurtling away once more, the impact even triggered another, slightly smaller burst of flames from him.

Only then did Fu Qian step forward to observe from a close distance.

"Is this your way of proving yourself? I indeed no longer doubt that you possess a sharper perception of them."

"But fundamentally, you just did the exact same thing as earlier. It proves nothing more."

Simon followed close behind, offering his emotionless critique with the distinct air of someone utterly unimpressed.

"That is because I haven't started proving anything yet," Fu Qian replied.

He gave a slight nod, then turned around and extended a hand.

Like a wax figure melted by fire, half of his palm had been completely stripped of its flesh.

...

He had just stepped forward and actually reached out to grab the dispersing Lead Flame.

Instantly realizing the source of this injury, Simon fell into a brief silence.

"It truly is a formidable method for purifying evil."

Unbothered by this, Fu Qian examined his palm and did not hold back his praise.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't seem very effective against the discarded pieces you mentioned. Does this count as a difference?"

As for the Suburban Mist, Fu Qian had learned quite a few secrets from the family tutor, Nathalie.

This included the fact that the elusive Outcasts of the Stars could ignore the commandments cast by members of The Order.

This disregard easily suggested two possibilities.

First, the commandments were merely empty shells inside the Mist, losing their effectiveness.

Second, their effects were normal, but they were simply useless against the discarded pieces.

Judging by the current situation, it was clearly the latter, because in Fu Qian's firsthand experience, even the unformed Lead Flame remained highly lethal.

Of course, the state of his hand was primarily deliberate.

Simon, who had just swung his sword at the equivalent of a heavy truck, could clearly grasp the meaning behind this action.

"I know that theoretically, this still doesn't prove much," Fu Qian said. "After all, no matter how you look at it right now, I am possessing a human body."

Amira and the resilient Reginald had also picked themselves up by now. They gathered around to stare at Fu Qian's hand, their expressions complicated.

Fu Qian generously displayed his injury and offered a sincere analysis.

"But if this is truly your standard, then I am very curious: what do you consider an effective method of self-proof?"

"Did you need me to step in front of it just now and obliterate that thing with a single punch?"

"I concede this is not entirely meaningless, but if you could demonstrate the moonlight that guides you, the effect might be much better—"

As expected of an orthodox faction, it seemed even their killing machines were capable of reason. Once again the center of attention, Simon finally voiced his critique.

The effect was instantaneous. Even before he finished speaking, an icy chill swept across the surroundings.

Standing at the center of the chill, Fu Qian was bathed in a brilliant glow. Ethereal and translucent, he looked entirely inhuman.

"Don't do anything reckless!"

Amira was naturally no stranger to this sight, and she cried out in alarm.

Previously in the Nightmare, when her face had been smothered by bloodsucking worms, this was the exact same phenomenon that had erupted from him.

Considering the guy's obvious playful mindset, she was genuinely worried he would act recklessly without regard for the consequences.

Fortunately, Excellency Simon proved to be quite restrained. Despite the sudden change, he merely maintained a defensive stance, his gaze still locked onto the other man's mutilated limb...

Realizing something, Amira quickly followed his gaze, only to see flesh and muscle rapidly spreading and creeping across the exposed white bones.

In the blink of an eye, it had already mostly healed.

"Like this?"

At the same time, Fu Qian's voice rang out, sounding like that of a saint.

"The Gift of the Dark Moon is far beyond your imagination."

...

In truth, what Fu Qian was doing was very simple. Under the Burning Frost Filter, he first used the Commandment Residue while simultaneously releasing his suppressed regenerative abilities.

The effect, however, was striking.

Even Simon, a man with scarcely a shred of humanity, clearly received quite a shock.

Even on a physical level.

The next moment, Simon abruptly retreated several steps to open up the distance. At the same time, his trench coat rippled like a wave, rapidly shaking off the accumulating frost.

It was obvious that he did not like being under the influence of the Commandment Residue.

Following his lead, Amira and Reginald did the same, both backing away.

This time, however, they had learned their lesson. They no longer stood on the road, instead maintaining a roughly uneven triangle.

"It is indeed a very special power—"

The moment Fu Qian's palm completely regenerated, Simon finally expressed a sliver of acknowledgment.

"But it's still not enough, right? I understand. Erasing prejudice is never that simple."

Fu Qian directly cut him off, his tone filled with pity.

"This is the tragedy of lost lambs. Simply listening to the shepherd's voice is already so difficult—"

The next moment, he turned around and walked directly toward the small road that Amira and Reginald were actively avoiding.

"No matter. Ensuring that you hear it is inherently one of a shepherd's duties, no matter how loud the voice must be!"

As he spoke, bathed in moonlight, he already stood in the middle of the road, raising the flashy Rapier in his hand.

Under the influence of the Commandment Residue, the blade of his weapon was impressively covered in thick ice crystals.

Shining in tandem with the cold, brilliant glow over Fu Qian's body, its splendor finally managed to surpass the Broadsword in Simon's hand.

Without the slightest hesitation, Fu Qian wielded this extravagant blade and, using almost the exact same motion Simon had employed earlier, slashed viciously forward.

Boom!

As frost spilled outward, a sound actually rang out; this strike had clearly hit its target.

That incomprehensible discarded piece was indeed repeatedly charging back and forth along this path, sweeping away every target.

Of course, compared to earlier, the sound was different this time.

The Rapier in Fu Qian's hand practically exploded alongside the ice crystals upon it, turning into countless tiny fragments.

Yet his dreamlike, inhuman figure did not move a single inch.
