Chapter 1405: Calamity Invasion (18)

What was going on here?

Fu Qian had never intended to step into a Deity's Nightmare. His actions just now had simply been a casual attempt to test the Persuader's limits.

He only had the leisure for this because he was waiting for the next person to invite him into their dream as a guest.

A man had to keep his word. He had promised to come out and look for other channels, so he did.

Fortunately, the next invitation did not keep him waiting long.

Right as the Persuader admitted he was powerless to probe the activity within the new dream, Fu Qian sensed a fresh fluctuation.

He answered it, and sure enough, arrived in a new place. The problem was—

Frowning slightly, Fu Qian looked at the smooth, satin-like body on the bed ahead, sinking into thought at the seemingly familiar scene.

'Are you people ever going to stop? Is this all I do every day in your minds?'

She was also sleeping on her stomach, completely naked.

Just like the last one, it wasn't even his first time seeing her.

Though she only revealed her left profile, one glance at that face and that soft blonde hair was enough. Who else could it be but the sister-seeking Veil?

Had his dismissal of her seduction attempt back then really left her with such an unresolved obsession?

She didn't seem like the type to be so petty, did she?

Shaking his head, Fu Qian turned to examine his surroundings.

The classical and luxurious decor was not exactly unfamiliar to him, either.

If he remembered correctly, this was Veil's residence in Baerluk, that Small Town strictly devoid of transcendents.

It was noticeably more spacious than the room he had stayed in, so this had to be Veil's own bedroom.

Over five seconds had passed since he arrived, and the woman lying on her stomach still hadn't made a single movement.

Given the magnitude of her sacrifice, there was no way she was just pretending to be asleep. She was clearly another guest pulled into this place.

Lightening his steps, Fu Qian walked over to the bed.

Beside it, a delicate Silver Mirror reflected his image—it was his true appearance.

They knew his true face, knew this place, and knew Veil was acquainted with him...

Casually pulling a purple blanket over Veil, Fu Qian silently returned to the door, unlocked the deadbolt, and pulled it open—all in half a second.

'Just as I thought. It's you.'

...

Her face was filled with the sheer shock of being discovered, her body even instinctively leaning back to hide. Standing outside the door was a face that bore a striking resemblance to Veil.

Who else could it be but her rebellious younger sister?

Imagination truly was a powerful thing.

Although his deduction was spot-on, Fu Qian still stared at Lotte's face, frowning and shaking his head. He made no effort to hide his exasperation.

This was his first time learning that someone could set up a honey trap inside a dream.

The faintly blinking Illusory Eye above Lotte's head proved beyond a doubt that she was the creator of this dream.

Starting from that fact, and combining it with Lotte's previous suspicions about his relationship with Veil, he could figure out the plot with his eyes closed—a rebellious younger sister gets into trouble, and the older sister is forced to suffer humiliation and sacrifice herself.

And without a doubt, he was cast as the villain.

The hormone-soaked imagination of youth!

"Want to step outside to talk?"

Sighing inwardly, Fu Qian gestured to Lotte, his tone mild.

As he spoke, he even turned sideways slightly, allowing Lotte a clear view of the bed.

"Is my sister asleep?"

Fu Qian's demeanor and tone were incredibly disarming. Lotte, who had initially been too afraid to look out of sheer instinct, quickly snapped out of it and peered inside.

The scene on the bed was clearly far less lewd than she had imagined. While it didn't change much in the grand scheme of things, Lotte still breathed a sigh of relief.

"I suppose so."

Fu Qian didn't even turn his head, merely offering a casual reply.

"Alright... then let's not wake her."

Gritting her teeth slightly, Lotte finally took a step back and cleared the way.

...

In certain aspects, the imagination and resilience of women truly could not be underestimated.

Fu Qian didn't actually care whether Lotte reacted with calm logic or a frantic meltdown.

What truly amazed him was that, despite the continuous shock and sudden twists, the Illusory Eye above Lotte's head—which indicated her degree of dream immersion—had only flickered a few times before rapidly stabilizing.

By the time he extended the invitation, it was practically motionless.

Evidently, she had instantly filled in the blanks with her own wild imagination, convincing herself that there was absolutely nothing illogical about the scene before her.

The direct result of this was that, despite his maneuvering, he hadn't gained much control over the dreamscape.

Compared to Brother Taylor's frantic internal struggle, manipulating this dream was going to require quite a bit more effort.

Even so, theoretically speaking, this dream held considerable value. Spurred on by her genius older sister, this particular dreamwalker had always shown a fanatical interest in transcendent power, even going so far as to sever one of her own hands for it.

Furthermore, judging by what she had said at the Dunis Opera House, she clearly had no qualms about obtaining that power through faith.

A character like her would likely have very little aversion to the King of the Abandoned Prison, an entity that symbolized Calamity itself.

She was practically a prime candidate for a zealot.

...

"I didn't mean to pry. I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night, and I thought I heard something coming from my sister's room..."

Just as he remembered, Veil's residence was quite spacious.

It was large enough that Lotte, who was leading the way, didn't stop in the living room. Instead, she continued all the way to a door situated at the exact opposite diagonal of Veil's room, opening it to gesture for Fu Qian to enter.

It was furnished as a guest room, but there were clear signs of habitation.

The moment he stepped inside, Fu Qian knew this was Lotte's room.

Did they really have to sleep as far away from each other as possible? The relationship between these sisters was truly twisted.

As he mused over this, Lotte had already begun explaining her presence, her excuse sounding incredibly smooth.

"I know. I thought I heard snoring, too."

Fu Qian had absolutely no interest in getting tangled up in this topic. Without batting an eye, he immediately pinned the blame on Veil.

...

Upon clearly hearing what Fu Qian said, Lotte's face instantly twisted into a grimace.

Although he was agreeing with her, that was obviously not the noise she had been referring to.

Furthermore, there was no way she would believe that her sister, a transcendent, would actually snore in her sleep.

However, faced with this blatant slander, Lotte ultimately just gritted her teeth and chose not to argue the point. At the same time, the fluctuation in her dream immersion was so minor it could be entirely ignored.

"Thank you for taking care of my sister all this time."

In the very next moment, she actually chose to thank him.

"When I first met Your Excellency, I was somewhat impolite. I ask for your forgiveness."

Oh?

Hearing such mature and sensible words finally coming from the rebellious girl, Fu Qian couldn't help but nod slightly in response.

"Don't mention it. I wasn't helping for free, after all."

...

Though there was another brief silence, just as Fu Qian had hoped, Lotte's level of lucidity did not fluctuate in the slightest.

After staring at him for a moment, she actually turned sideways and placed her somewhat stiff and clumsy hand on the table.

"So, does Your Excellency have a way to help me...?" she asked. "I won't let you help for free, either."
