Chapter 18: I've Wanted to Do That for a Long Time"I believe him."
Wen Li's words stunned everyone in the room.
"Xiao Li..."
Wen Xiuxian looked at his daughter in concern as she stepped forward.
"Don't worry. If Mr. Fu wanted to kill me, I would have died several times over by now."
Wen Li offered a weak smile and solemnly bowed to Fu Qian.
"Thank you for saving my life just now. If my father has said anything offensive, please forgive him."
"If possible, I would like to entrust you with my safety moving forward..."
'Now that's more like it!'
Fu Qian nodded, deeply gratified.
"Of course. The situation is still tense, so from now on, everyone follows my orders."
"Who the hell do you think you are? Why should we listen to—"
Smack!
With a crisp slap, the rest of Eldest Young Master Ye's sentence came to an abrupt halt. He stumbled, nearly face-planting into the ground.
After casually slapping Eldest Young Master Ye across the face, Fu Qian blocked a punch and a kick from the middle-aged man surnamed Ji, drifting back as light as a feather.
The brief exchange left a trail of blood trickling from the corner of the middle-aged man's mouth, but he still rushed over to catch Eldest Young Master Ye.
He had noticed Fu Qian's movement, but the opponent's speed had simply been too fast for him to protect the young man in time.
'Just where did this monster come from?'
The middle-aged man stared dead at Fu Qian, full of vigilance.
"Old Ji... kill him for me."
Eldest Young Master Ye struggled to find his footing. His left cheek burned with a fiery pain and had gone almost completely numb.
Never in his life had he suffered such humiliation. The sheer indignity drove him into an instant frenzy.
The middle-aged man didn't move, however. He even stopped his young master from charging forward.
Setting aside the fact that they were in the Wen Family Estate, this guy was technically Wen Li's savior.
More importantly, the guy's strength was absolutely terrifying. Who knew where the hell he had popped out from!
In a life-or-death struggle, the middle-aged man had zero confidence he could take him down.
Considering this guy's ruthless methods, the one in the most danger would actually be the furious Eldest Young Master Ye.
If the opponent was willing to take a hit just to secure a kill, there was a high probability he wouldn't be able to protect the young master at all.
"Ahem!"
Seeing the situation spiraling out of control, Wen Xiuxian coughed and stepped forward.
He offered a few soothing words to placate Eldest Young Master Ye, then arranged for someone to escort him away to rest.
By now, Eldest Young Master Ye had calmed down slightly. Shooting Fu Qian a classically venomous glare, he declared he wouldn't let this go before finally leaving to rest under the escort of his entourage.
The butler was already organizing people to clean up the mess. The entire Wen Family Estate was a tragic sight to behold, all its former glory gone.
Never mind the gaping hole in the house; several of the magnificent pillars in the Plaza had snapped under the dual devastation wrought by Fu Qian and the Stone Golem.
At a glance, the scene was bleak, miserable, and desolate.
As one of the main culprits responsible for this state of affairs, Fu Qian couldn't help but sigh with emotion.
Just a few days ago, he had been a total shut-in. While not exactly frail, his physical fitness had been painfully average.
Who would have thought that in the blink of an eye, he would become a human weapon.
Even after this consecutive string of battles, Fu Qian still didn't feel tired.
The minor injuries he had sustained from his brief clash with the middle-aged man surnamed Ji had long since stopped hurting.
The Brawler Form provided him with more than just strength and speed; it also granted him regenerative healing that far surpassed human limits.
'I'm truly no longer in the realm of regular humans,' he thought.
Wen Xiuxian finished arranging everything and approached Fu Qian with a smile.
"Mr. Fu, Captain Gu, please come with me."
Worthy of a businessman, his emotional control was absolutely masterful.
Captain Gu was still in a state of bewilderment. At Wen Xiuxian's invitation, he followed them inside in a daze.
The area where Wen Li had been staying was smashed to pieces by the stone pillars, and it had now been cordoned off.
Fortunately, the Wen Family Estate was large enough that they could quickly tidy up another room.
"Please sit, Mr. Fu."
Wen Xiuxian first arranged for Wen Li to sit down and rest, then invited Fu Qian and Captain Gu to take a seat.
"We've encountered a lot of incidents recently, so I was a bit overly sensitive. Please forgive me if my words were offensive just now."
"I will have to rely heavily on you for Xiao Li's safety moving forward."
"It's fine. It's my duty, and I am obligated to fulfill it."
Fu Qian straightened his uniform, continuing to spout nonsense with him.
...
"Then I will have to trouble Captain Gu as well."
After probing for a long time and seeing that Fu Qian's responses were airtight, Wen Xiuxian had no choice but to turn his sincere gaze toward Captain Gu.
"You're too polite."
Captain Gu was overwhelmed by the unexpected flattery.
Things had developed far too quickly. Even though he was usually smooth and tactful, his brain simply couldn't process it all right now.
He had been staring at Fu Qian this whole time, feeling that this team member was more of a stranger than ever before.
No matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn't figure out how his subordinate had suddenly transformed into a transcendent, and had even saved their employer's life multiple times in a row.
"Mr. Fu, in your opinion, who attacked us today?"
Wen Xiuxian turned his head and asked.
'You've certainly asked the right person.'
"I don't know!"
Fu Qian shook his head.
...
"But it shouldn't be too hard to find out. Have you ever encountered that big guy before?"
Answering a question with another question was always a good strategy.
"Never."
Wen Xiuxian's attention was successfully diverted, and he slowly shook his head.
"We've been attacked twice before, and neither incident involved anyone like that."
"Today's attack proves one thing: the enemy is a highly professional team. They aren't a group of stragglers. Each of them is an expert at assassination, and they cooperate flawlessly. This isn't something a temporary crew could pull off."
"So, even though they left behind very little information, we aren't completely without leads."
"A transcendent who can transform into a Stone Golem, someone skilled at hypnosis, and a fixed team of assassins. If you investigate based on these criteria, it shouldn't be difficult to figure out who they are."
"I'll have it arranged."
Wen Xiuxian nodded, a cold glint in his eyes.
Although he was just an ordinary person, having been a wealthy tycoon for so many years, he still had his pride.
"Actually, that big brute isn't the hardest one to deal with,"
Fu Qian continued.
"The one backing him up is clearly skilled at disguise and infiltration. With so many people in your estate, I'm afraid it could easily be riddled with holes like a sieve."
That... was actually true!
Cold sweat broke out across Wen Xiuxian's face.
"Then what do you think would be safe?"
"Simple. You definitely have a Safe House here, right?"
A Safe House was practically a standard feature for the rich and powerful.
After all, their lives were quite precious to them.
"Uh, we do indeed have one..."
"Have Wen Li hide in the Safe House alone to minimize the number of people who can come into contact with her. It would be best if no one else is allowed inside except for me."
...
It was obvious that Wen Xiuxian couldn't possibly accept this suggestion.
Is it really okay for you, a man of unknown origins, to make this kind of suggestion?
"Xiao Li still needs someone to take care of her right now..."
"Then she's beyond saving. Just wait for death."
...
"Dad, go rest first. Let me chat with Mr. Fu for a while."
Seeing that they had fallen into silence, Wen Li suddenly spoke up from the side.
This...
"It's fine..."
Wen Li looked at her father and gently shook her head.
Fine.
Wen Xiuxian hesitated for a long time before finally letting out a sigh and sending everyone away.
After everyone had left, Wen Li stared at Fu Qian's face for a long time.
"Thank you."
"You've already thanked me."
"This 'thank you' isn't for saving my life."
"Thank you for slapping Ye Yang across the face. I've wanted to do that for a long time!"
