Chapter 1818: Vulgar Fear (24)

Why was he in Salma's house?

The scene transition made absolutely no sense, but that didn't mean he could afford to ignore the question.

Especially for Fu Qian, finding the answer didn't take much effort.

First, Salma wasn't dead yet, which meant this took place before Bloodletting High School.

Judging by the view out the uncurtained window, it was already late at night.

Combined with the Wristwatch he was still wearing, the timeline conflict was almost certain—he could rule out the night of the All Fools' Day Party.

Going further back in the timeline, there really was an earlier scenario: the three of them exploring the Old House.

If he remembered correctly, his discussion with Butters at the end of that scenario had pinpointed two places to check for Wen's whereabouts.

First, his home. Second, his girlfriend.

The lights were on outside but the bedroom was dark, which somewhat supported this theory.

It was an easy scene to imagine: he had successfully found the place, only to discover no one was there.

And the overly professional Mister Wolf, unwilling to just turn around and leave, opted for breaking and entering.

But just as he started searching for clues, someone returned.

Returning to the bedroom, Salma was ambushed by a mysterious figure hiding in the dark before she even had time to turn on the lights.

This was just one possibility, but currently, it was the most likely one.

After all, aside from searching for a missing friend, it was hard to imagine why he would break into a strange woman's bedroom.

It couldn't be that the rumored object of her shifting affections was him rather than Joshua, could it?

As for why he was now leaning toward the idea that this cross-school romance had hit a snag?

Simple. When the bad news about Wen dropped, Salma froze for a moment before struggling even harder.

It felt like rather than understanding he was here to ask for her help, she was more inclined to vent her anger on him.

"What's going on? Open the door!"

Meanwhile, the person outside was already pushing on the door, their tone growing urgent.

"That guy ditched us in the middle of nowhere and ran off on his own. I'm looking for him to have a good chat. Do you know where he is?"

Even though the situation was slightly precarious, Fu Qian showed absolutely no intention of easing his grip or loosening his hold from behind.

At the same time, based on his deductions, he directly offered that supplementary explanation to his previous words.

Click!

With a soft sound, he flicked on the nearby light switch.

...

Light always brought a sense of security, and so did the enemy of one's enemy.

Although the latter statement wasn't entirely precise, Fu Qian felt her struggling ease in that moment.

It seemed he had selected the correct dialogue option.

"A chat? You have three seconds to think it over."

Facing the face struggling to turn toward him, Fu Qian made no effort to hide. He let her study him as he asked the question softly.

A familiar face—it was indeed Salma, but he seemed to have used a bit too much force just now, to the point that harsh red marks had been pressed directly into her chin.

At the same time, judging from her clothes, she indeed looked like she had just returned from outside and hadn't had time to change.

After meeting her eyes for three seconds like this, without delaying another moment, Fu Qian simply let go.

Gasp—

Salma's immediate reaction was a long, heavy pant, and surprisingly, she didn't scream.

"Let me have some peace... I don't want to talk to anyone right now!"

Staring intently at Fu Qian's face, she hesitated for a moment before taking a deep breath and shouting at the door.

He had to admit, the emotional build-up was remarkably smooth.

Also, true to most high school girls, she didn't want her relationship exposed in front of her family.

Realizing her ambusher might not pose a threat, she quickly chose to keep the situation from getting out of hand.

"What are you throwing a fit about now!"

It proved highly effective. The person pushing on the door sounded like her mother, and she was clearly unhappy with this rude response.

But at the same time, after snapping at her, she actually stopped pushing on the door.

"So are you going to shower or not?"

Of course, that didn't mean she had left. Soon enough, the person outside asked again.

"You go first. Don't you have a date?"

Salma replied just as promptly, throwing out a cold jab.

It sounded like this mother had an even richer nightlife than a teenager.

"Suit yourself. But consider yourself warned: if you aren't home when I get back, you'll be in big trouble."

The next moment, not only did the person outside actually accept Salma's suggestion, she even tossed out a rather hypocritical threat before leaving.

Regardless, as the footsteps faded into the distance, a potential crisis dissolved into nothingness.

"I haven't seen Wen today... Are you his friend?"

Only then did Salma, still staring at Fu Qian, suddenly change her tone, shaking her head vigorously to indicate she didn't know where Wen had gone.

"Not anymore. Though not long ago we were still discussing attending a party... Just call me Wolf."

Unsurprised by this answer, Fu Qian even introduced himself.

"Considering my level of displeasure is accumulating by the second, is there any chance you could help me figure out where he is?"

Fu Qian didn't beat around the bush, his tone carrying a clear threat.

"Sorry, I really want to help you, but I probably can't.

"The last time I saw Wen was the day before yesterday. And honestly, if I see him again, I'll break up with him on the spot. I've wanted out for a long time."

Salma had clearly picked up on his irritation. Her breathing grew shallow as she frantically tried to explain herself.

...

So he really had been going through a relationship crisis. No wonder Wen's attitude was a bit complicated when the party was brought up.

And according to the "correct" way to complete a scenario they had deduced earlier, aligning these details was undoubtedly a positive development.

At the same time, it looked like he was destined to return empty-handed. It was time to leave.

Silently evaluating this, Fu Qian looked at the bedroom window. From the height, he could tell this was the second floor; jumping straight down wouldn't be a problem at all.

As for whether the scenario would just end there?

Honestly, Fu Qian didn't think it would be that simple.

Perhaps his current circumstances didn't contradict any of the previous plots, but this was still a scenario. There had to be some sort of completion requirement, right?

In his view, if he just jumped down like this and a scene transition didn't happen, there was at least a fifty percent chance he'd have to turn around and come right back.

Beyond that, there was a real chance that such hasty behavior could trigger negative consequences and ultimately lead to a mission failure.

Retracting his gaze, Fu Qian actually walked over and sat down in a nearby Chair.

"Then it seems today is your lucky day. I have a strong feeling someone is going to pay you a visit in a little while."
