Crunch, crunch!
The fed Frenzied Spirit seemed to freeze for a moment before a seam split down the center of its face, peeling open to either side.
Amid a flurry of chewing noises, it swallowed the doll fragments whole.
A moment later, green flames ignited across its body—the exact same shade as the shattered doll.
But the flames flared for only a second before snuffing out.
Mister Luo calmly maintained his grip on the doll's neck.
No wonder this thing is so versatile. It gains abilities just by eating its own kind?
This scene instantly made Fu Qian realize how it worked.
"Die!"
Layer upon layer of the Grey Curtain manifested, blocking Mister Luo's path.
Unfortunately, this indestructible barrier was as fragile as glass before him.
"You know nothing."
Mister Luo chuckled softly and reached out to tap the center of the curtain.
An almost invisible ripple emanated from his fingertip, rapidly spreading outward.
Under the cascading tremors, the Grey Curtain violently shattered.
Spurt!
The priest immediately coughed up a spray of blood.
"You have no idea what the truly precious thing in this area is..."
Mister Luo held up the Frenzied Spirit in his hand, a rare fanatical gleam in his eyes.
"The meaning of its existence goes far beyond your imagination—"
"We know now."
A voice suddenly rang out.
It really is lively here!
Fu Qian looked at Miyamoto's group hurrying over, sighing to himself as he instantly decided to stick to quietly observing changes.
Miyamoto walked at the forefront. The squad of subordinates behind him was fully armed and on high alert.
A quick glance revealed that many were carrying injuries, clearly having just gone through a fierce battle.
Delin's squad looked even more miserable, with only three people left trailing at the very back of the group.
Delin himself, Brother Archer, and their sole female team member.
"Mister Luo left without a word when the fighting was at its most intense. You had us all worried."
"I'm so glad to see you're safe!"
As the group approached, Miyamoto spoke with a smiling face, his eyes finally landing on the blood-colored doll in the older man's hand.
"Did you catch this special variant? That's fantastic!
"When we get back, I will definitely tell my father to credit you for this merit."
Despite his polite words, his subordinates were subtly surrounding both Mister Luo and the priest.
Infighting? This Mister Luo really does have a lot of secrets. He even ran in here by himself without telling Miyamoto.
"Very efficient!"
Mister Luo didn't look particularly surprised by Miyamoto's sudden appearance. He just gave him an expressionless glance.
"We managed. Mainly, I was worried we wouldn't make it in time to save you."
Miyamoto smiled and shook his head, turning to shoot a look at his men.
One of his subordinates immediately walked up to Mister Luo holding an Iron-Black Box.
The lid was already flipped open, signaling the older man to place the doll inside.
Mister Luo didn't move. He merely narrowed his eyes at Miyamoto, who kept a faint smile on his lips and boldly met his gaze.
The situation instantly fell into a stalemate.
Meanwhile, Delin's squad, who had been on full alert against the priest, looked taken aback. Their eyes kept darting back and forth between the two men.
It seemed Miyamoto really had told Delin they were coming in to rescue someone, but the way things were unfolding clearly didn't match that script.
"Is there a problem?"
Seeing Mister Luo's continued lack of movement, Miyamoto's smile faded.
"We had better hurry. Father is still waiting for our return..."
"You are just the same. You know nothing..."
After a long pause, Mister Luo shook his head.
The next moment, a burst of green flame erupted from the Frenzied Spirit in his hand, converging into several fiery whips that lashed out in all directions.
The fiery whips instantly wrapped around the necks of Miyamoto's subordinates who had surrounded him.
"Including your father."
With a casual flick, Mister Luo hoisted the men up and tossed them aside like trash.
A horrifying scorch mark appeared on the neck of the nearest subordinate, rapidly spreading across his entire body.
In just a few seconds, he disintegrated into a charred mass of flesh and blood.
Mister Luo didn't stop. The flaming whips surged with power all at once, instantly creating a ring of scorched corpses on the ground.
Witnessing this, Miyamoto froze in shock, all traces of a smile completely wiped from his face.
"Is this a little beyond your expectations?"
"You..."
Miyamoto's body trembled. Snapping out of his daze, his expression instantly shifted to pure terror.
It was obvious he hadn't considered the possibility of facing such a terrifying existence.
"I think I misunderstood the situation."
Miyamoto gulped.
"This operation has been incredibly fruitful. I'm preparing to return immediately."
"Mister Luo's contributions are the greatest this time, and you even took the initiative to stay behind to handle the danger. I'll have my father pay you double—no, triple the original compensation."
He spoke rapidly while keeping his eyes fixed on Mister Luo.
Faced with an invincible enemy, his intense will to live forced his mind into overdrive.
"That doesn't sound too bad."
Mister Luo looked at him for a few seconds before offering an emotionless comment.
"Do you know where you made your mistake?"
"Where?"
Intense fear hooked his heart at Mister Luo's tone, but Miyamoto gritted his teeth and forced the word out.
"Self-knowledge... Not just you, but your father, and even your entire family—none of you have any idea what role you're actually playing!"
"A hunt?"
Mister Luo pointed at the ground in front of him.
"Did you think I suggested your father secretly transport those people here years ago just so you could harvest a batch of forging materials every decade or so?
"What a childish thought!"
What?
Hearing this, even the priest slumped on the ground snapped his head up.
Heh!
Mister Luo gave him a glance.
"How else do you think you ended up in this place?
"Did none of your elders ever tell you? That everyone just woke up here one day, and no one knew what happened?"
...
Mister Luo's words seemed to trigger a memory for the priest, leaving him completely speechless.
"And those waves of exploration teams, naturally, we were the ones who disposed of them."
"Of course, we didn't need to lift a finger later on."
Mister Luo blinked at him.
"Didn't the last batch die at your hands?"
So they aren't Natives either. They were just livestock penned in here.
Seeing the priest rendered completely mute, Fu Qian sighed silently from the sidelines.
But going by Mister Luo's words, and what the little girl mentioned...
It seems her father's group was directly handled by the priest and his fanatics. Miyamoto's side didn't even have to make a move.
...
"Then what exactly is your true purpose... wait, I don't want to know!"
Miyamoto, nearly stunned foolish by the revelations, asked subconsciously, but bit his tongue hard halfway through the question.
It was obvious he knew very well that knowing too much wasn't a good thing, and he decisively slammed on the brakes.
"Very perceptive. No wonder your father sent you."
Mister Luo turned around and praised him with a smile.
