Chapter 295: Bottled Prisoner (19)

Someone else?

Lynn followed Fu Qian's gaze and suddenly realized something: tangled up with this guy, he had stayed in one place for far too long.

Before he could move, a streak of dark red light arched across the expanse and slammed into the ground.

Sand and gravel exploded outward. In the center of the crater stood the long-absent Patrick.

The Frenzied Sin Butcher's red hair had been burned to ash. From his now-bald head down to his feet, he was covered in shocking, charred scars.

Coupled with his burly physique, the visual impact was staggering.

The Fire of Sin on his body had grown so dense it was almost tangible, yet it provided no illumination whatsoever. A single glance at it evoked only a frantic, chaotic madness.

Lynn's heart sank.

Patrick. This was undoubtedly the last person he wanted to see right now.

He snapped his gaze toward Fu Qian.

Did this guy yell earlier on purpose?

He hadn't realized it at the time, but in this dim Underground space, that shout had been glaringly conspicuous.

As long as the Butcher wasn't too far away, he could easily follow the sound straight here while prowling for prey.

"I was worried he was having too hard a time finding us."

Seemingly noticing Lynn's confusion, Fu Qian winked at him and readily admitted it.

Are you out of your mind?!

Lynn's expression twisted; he almost screamed the words out loud.

Patrick was a lunatic who made no distinctions. Did Fu Qian think drawing him here would somehow leave him unscathed?

Unfortunately, Fu Qian completely ignored his despair and fury. His attention was already fixed on Patrick.

It was obvious that Brother Butcher had reaped a bountiful harvest recently.

The intensity of the Sin Fire on him far surpassed what the Mad Swordsman had possessed earlier.

"You?"

Staring with almost completely bloodshot eyes, Patrick's gaze darted between Fu Qian and Lynn a few times before he finally recognized Fu Qian.

"You're welcome."

Fu Qian said casually.

Hahaha!

Patrick responded with a fit of maniacal laughter.

"You won't have the same good luck this time!"

"Uh-huh."

Faced with this death threat, Fu Qian merely gave a perfunctory hum and carefully scrutinized the man's condition.

Aside from the irrepressible fanaticism on his face, there was still a grimace of agony.

"Does it hurt?"

A moment later, Fu Qian asked him the exact same question as before.

...

At those words, both Lynn and Patrick were a bit stunned.

Lynn clearly couldn't fathom why Fu Qian was so fixated on this question.

Meanwhile, Patrick stared at him for a moment before his smile grew even more deranged.

"Hurt? Pain is the most insignificant thing of all! Most of the time, it's even a delicious side dish."

"You have no idea how intoxicating this feels right now. It's absolute bliss!"

He raised both hands, as if embracing the space around him.

"Do you know the most wonderful thing about this place? It's that your pleasure is materialized."

"Every time I look at the fire on my body—"

Patrick stroked his own arm, his eyes burning with fanaticism.

"I know exactly how happy I am in this moment. So much so that every time I leave this place, I can't wait to come back! Do you understand?"

"I understand. So, does it still hurt?"

Fu Qian stroked his chin.

Just as expected, Patrick had absolutely no idea that once the Fire of Sin was purified a single time, it would no longer inflict pain.

But judging by his demeanor, he probably wouldn't do it even if he knew.

This guy actually had a conflict with the Butcher before... Listening to Fu Qian and Patrick's exchange, Lynn couldn't help but feel a surge of relief.

If the Butcher ended up fighting this lunatic, Lynn would undoubtedly have a chance to escape.

Right now, he had zero desire to face Patrick. Bolstered by the boiling Sin Fire, this guy had likely already reached the Demigod Tier. He was completely beyond anything Lynn could fight head-on.

It was maddening that they were ultimately just a loose association of individuals. If they had organized a group to immediately kill him right at the start, things wouldn't have become this difficult.

What a pity. With only one victor allowed, no one would risk their life for someone else. Cooperating to reap the lives of isolated prisoners was already their absolute limit.

While he was secretly scheming, Lynn suddenly noticed a pair of blood-red eyes darting his way, like a wolf spotting prey.

Why is he targeting me again?!

In that instant, his blood ran cold, unable to comprehend why he had suddenly been zeroed in on.

"This little rat looks like it tastes a bit better!"

Tastes a bit better...

Subconsciously checking himself, Lynn suddenly realized the problem—his body was stained with Sin Fire!

And the Butcher was evidently fanatical about this very flame.

Damn it!

He whipped his head toward Fu Qian.

Was this the reason he shouted to attract Patrick without any reservations?

Now that I think about it, he's never actively tainted himself with Sin Fire.

Even when we were attacked just now, he only broke the attacker's legs and yielded the kill to me.

And I was actually secretly happy about it at the time...

"Take your time... We have plenty of time left!"

Patrick was now completely locked onto Lynn, a hideous grin on his heavily charred face.

Beside them, Fu Qian looked entirely like a spectator watching a show; he neither stepped forward to interfere nor turned to flee.

"Something else is coming?"

Just as a massive battle was about to erupt, Fu Qian seemed to hear something and gazed into the distance.

Soon, the rhythmic clanking of metal echoed over.

"Huh?"

Patrick and Lynn noticed it as well. A fresh wave of joy bloomed in the latter's heart.

The next moment, a tall, burly figure clad in gleaming white Armor approached from afar, leaving speckles of frost in its wake.

The Sin Seeker!

This guy has impeccable timing!

As long as it can tangle with the Butcher for a moment, I'll have a chance to escape with my life.

But amidst his excitement, Lynn noticed that Patrick merely glanced at the Sin Seeker before locking back onto him.

"Earlier, I was surprised that no one tried to borrow a knife to kill."

"Unfortunately, it's too late for that. I've dealt with this thing far too many times. Given the current situation, it can't interfere with me anymore."

While the Butcher spoke, the Sin Seeker had already closed the distance.

Amidst a howling gale, it launched a leaping strike across a dozen meters, bringing a heavy cleave straight down toward Patrick's head.

Yet with a flick of his arm, Patrick sent a long hook chain lashing out from his grasp.

The surface of the chain was thickly caked in congealed gore, completely obscuring its original material.

Striking second but landing first, the hook chain slammed directly into the Sin Seeker's chest—and instantly pierced clean through it.

Patrick immediately turned sideways and yanked it back, narrowly evading the entity's Greatsword. Then, he smashed a punch straight into the Sin Seeker's head.

A sharp metallic crack rang out. As his arm, blazing with dark red fire, connected, a burst of flames violently exploded outward.

Whoosh!

Amid the blast, the Sin Seeker's head was sent hurtling away in a heavy arc.

Meanwhile, its headless body continued its forward momentum, plunging into the water ahead before going completely still.

It's that weak?!

Everything happened so blindingly fast that Lynn didn't even have time to find a window to run.
