It was obvious the Magic Mirror had completely misjudged how low Fu Qian would stoop.
The moment the words left his mouth, the already mangled Reflection froze.
"Are you even human?"
A moment later, its exclamation was laced with dry disbelief.
"Of course I am. Your imagination is just as impoverished as a virgin's wet dream."
Fu Qian sighed and shook his head.
He had originally hoped to learn a thing or two, but it turned out any ultimate move he casually pulled out packed more of a punch than this.
"What do you mean?"
Brother Magic Mirror was clearly confused.
...
"Anyway, do you have anything else? If you're out of tricks, step aside and save me the trouble."
Fu Qian rolled his wrists, itching for a fight.
"You... psychopath!"
Brother Magic Mirror's voice was full of indignation.
However, it seemed Fu Qian's guess had been correct. Its bag of tricks was empty.
Aside from trying to ambush him when he opened the door, all it had left was this formal question-and-answer trap.
Beyond that, it had zero physical attack power. From the looks of it, it couldn't even manage a suicide attack to blast him with a face full of glass shards.
"You have no idea what you're dealing with!"
Even so, its threats didn't stop.
"I'll return those exact words to you. Also, stop trying to stall for time."
Fu Qian shot a glance to the side.
"While smashing the toilet would take some effort, I've already checked the room service snacks over there. In less than a minute, I could mix them into a visually convincing, mushy paste."
...
As the Reflection warped, the image on the glass spiraled into a vortex and rapidly vanished into the infinite depths.
Brother Magic Mirror knew when it was beaten. Seeing that the situation was hopeless, it left without another word.
What a pity!
Fu Qian looked at the Reflection on the glass, which had now returned to normal.
When dealing with an enemy who posed no threat yet knew so much, one should always try to coax out a little more information if possible.
However, time was tight.
The Magic Mirror had clearly been trying to stall him. It was hard to say what was happening on Violetta's end right now.
Click!
After conducting a careful check, Fu Qian twisted the doorknob open.
The grotesque scene from earlier had vanished, and the familiar Corridor reappeared.
Without wasting any time, Fu Qian headed straight down the Corridor.
To be honest, even though they hadn't directly come to blows just now, the situation had still been perilous.
Childish visual shock aside, whether it was the door ambush or the question-and-answer trap, falling for either of them would have likely resulted in instant death.
This task seemed steeped in a fairy-tale atmosphere, but it was far more dangerous than he had imagined.
...
Violetta's room wasn't far, and Fu Qian soon arrived at his destination.
"Who are you?"
The moment he arrived, a woman happened to turn around and look his way.
She was in her forties, dressed in a standard dark blue uniform, and carried herself with a meek, submissive demeanor.
Everything from her attire to her posture indicated she was a member of the hotel staff.
If that wasn't enough, she was also holding a set of cleaning supplies.
The cleaning lady seemed to have just stepped out of Violetta's room, but she looked at Fu Qian with a wary glint in her eye.
"This isn't your room, is it? Please don't harass the other guests."
Without waiting for Fu Qian to speak, the cleaning lady bluntly cut in. She subconsciously stepped in front of the door, a flash of disgust rising on her face.
"If you don't leave, I'll report you to the hotel and have them throw you out."
With this attitude, it seemed she was treating him like some creep here to harass a little girl!
Fu Qian took two steps forward, a smile on his face.
"Get lost!"
...
"What did you say?"
The cleaning lady froze.
"I said, you can get lost and find the hotel staff right now. Let them throw me out."
Fu Qian took another step closer, staring down this dutiful employee.
"I'll wait right here."
...
"Why aren't you going? Worried that you might be the one getting in trouble instead?"
Looking at the silent cleaning lady, Fu Qian snorted.
The scene just now could certainly be interpreted as the woman having just come out of Violetta's room, fiercely protective of the girl and unwilling to let anyone harass her.
However, there was another possibility. She had tried to get inside but failed, so she was deliberately pretending to have just come out to drive him away first.
"What exactly do you want?"
The dutiful expression on the cleaning lady's face vanished, replaced by an unconcealed ferocity.
The Magic Mirror had been exactly like this. Was intimidation a standard skill for the monsters in this task?
Fu Qian mused to himself.
"You don't seem to have a very good memory, so I'll say it again—if you don't want a fight right here and now, get as far away from me as possible!"
"I'll wait right here for you to call someone over. I can even call them for you. Understand?"
...
By the time he finished, the cleaning lady's face had turned completely red. Underneath her thin skin, her muscles shifted in a bizarre manner, as if something was about to burst out.
Yet, faced with such a murderous display, Fu Qian's expression didn't so much as ripple.
It wasn't because he thought he was invincible—after all, he was just an ordinary human right now.
The main reason was that Fu Qian didn't think this thing had the guts to actually attack.
The cleaning lady clearly wasn't a real employee. There was a high probability she was working with the Magic Mirror and had come for Violetta.
The Magic Mirror had likely been buying time for her earlier, trying to prevent him from interfering.
Unfortunately for her, it seemed she hadn't managed to trick Violetta into opening the door.
Even then, she still hadn't resorted to violence to smash it open.
This indicated that if she made a move here, the consequences might be more than she could bear.
So, while she was using the threat of getting kicked out to scare him, the chances were she was far more afraid of the hotel staff than he was.
The standoff lasted for half a minute before ultimately ending in the cleaning lady's defeat.
After glaring viciously at Fu Qian, she hurried off down the Corridor without even uttering a parting threat.
Knock, knock!
Fu Qian watched her go. Only after confirming she had completely left did he raise his hand and knock on the door.
"Who is it?"
Violetta's voice soon rang out from inside.
The poor kid hadn't been kidnapped yet, it seemed.
"Doctor!"
Fu Qian called out.
Click!
About five seconds later, the door creaked open a crack.
Half of Violetta's wary little face peeked out. Upon seeing Fu Qian, she seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.
"Is that person gone?" she asked cautiously.
"She's gone. Did she ask you to open the door for her earlier?"
"Yeah."
The little girl nodded as she pulled the door fully open.
Fu Qian didn't stand on ceremony, stepping right inside.
"Then why didn't you open it?"
"She was here to get me. I know it."
Violetta said with unusual certainty.
The little girl wasn't stupid.
Fu Qian praised her silently. But when he turned his head, he was taken aback.
A long brown wooden table was laden with all sorts of cakes and pastries, so full there was barely any room left.
