In all fairness, the view truly was quite nice!
Sure enough, if something was going to last this long, it had to be somewhat tied to faith.
Standing on the top floor of the Stone Tower, Fu Qian looked past the reliefs in front of him, his gaze settling on the towering Church not far away.
Not long ago, they had found an opportunity for all four of them to slip into this ancient building.
Just as Shang Shiming had said, this Stone Tower was indeed part of the larger Church complex.
It was also obvious that a lot of thought had gone into its construction.
The structure was intricately complex, the reliefs were magnificent, and the tower's exterior was built entirely of milky-white marble.
"It really is beautiful! Everywhere you look, it's a work of art."
Even Li Min, standing nearby, was carefully observing their surroundings, her tone carrying a hint of reluctance to see it destroyed.
She looked at Fu Qian, striking up a casual conversation.
"Rarely. I'm a vulgar person. I don't really appreciate art."
...
Fu Qian's answer rendered Li Min momentarily speechless.
"You must be joking, Mister Cha. I just think such a beautiful place would be wonderful for a stroll in one's free time. It's actually a bit of a pity that it's about to be destroyed."
After saying this, however, Li Min quickly realized it was inappropriate and shot Shang Shiming an awkward glance.
She was here to observe someone else's ritual, yet her words sounded critical.
The latter's response, however, was quite seasoned: he simply pretended he hadn't heard a thing.
"It's fine. I lack refinement too. I've always taken great joy in burning zithers and cooking cranes, and besides, it's not like we're killing anyone."
Fu Qian suddenly chimed in.
...
This left Li Min entirely speechless.
Because of Fu Qian's bluntness, her good friend Rachel couldn't help but glare at him.
Fu Qian, however, completely ignored her.
Given their brief interaction in the police car earlier, he didn't think Li Min was the type to feel much genuine pity over ruined architecture.
Her striking up a conversation just now clearly carried a heavier intent to probe him.
This actually struck Fu Qian as somewhat strange.
Logically speaking, even if his behavior was somewhat suspicious, probing him should have been Shang Shiming's job. As a mere spectator, she was overstepping her bounds.
Fu Qian's earlier response, however, won Shang Shiming's wholehearted approval. As the man nodded repeatedly on the sidelines, he also secretly marveled that newborn calves fear no tigers.
Although his own strength wasn't considered outstanding, he still possessed basic judgment, and he could naturally tell that Li Min was quite powerful.
In the world of transcendents, strength had always been the primary principle, and the strong naturally commanded respect.
Even he would find it difficult to be so impolite to Li Min, yet Fu Qian didn't care in the slightest.
After formulating their action plan, the four of them had hidden here for quite a while, quietly waiting for the thunderstorm to arrive.
The weather didn't disappoint; the sky above them was already as gloomy as a heavy lid, looking like a storm could break loose at any moment.
Crack!
Soon, amidst an atmosphere where no one had much to say to each other, the first clap of thunder boomed.
"We can begin."
Shang Shiming immediately broke the silence, swiftly standing up to look at Fu Qian.
"We'll follow our previous plan. I will use my ability to accelerate the corrosion of some key locations and do my best to destabilize this place."
"When the time is right, I'll send you a signal. We'll coordinate our efforts to turn this place into ruins in one fell swoop."
"No problem."
Fu Qian nodded casually, telling Shang Shiming to go ahead while he waited here for the good news.
The latter didn't say anything more and quickly headed downstairs.
Not long after, Fu Qian felt the building beneath his feet begin to let out bursts of pained groans.
This indicated that the structure, originally meant to maintain stability, was finally beginning to lose its balance after hundreds of years.
Of course, these extremely subtle sounds were completely drowned out by the endless rolling thunder, making them difficult to notice unless one was inside.
Old Brother Shang's ability seemed to be related to powers like aging and corrosion.
Fu Qian silently made his judgment.
For him, if he used his true strength, destroying a Stone Tower like this would be quite easy.
But for Shang Shiming, whose strength was below the Mid Tier, he had to use his brains to topple such a building.
Before acting, the man had probably studied the tower's blueprints for a long time.
By now, having realized Fu Qian's terrible personality, Li Min made no further attempts to converse with him, merely gazing silently into the distance by herself.
Rachel, standing to the side, still wore an unfriendly expression. It looked very much like she intended to teach Fu Qian a lesson once the plan was complete.
Time passed minute by minute, and the vibrations of the tower grew more intense and frequent.
To Fu Qian's ears, the faint shattering sounds coming from beneath his feet were as continuous as a string of firecrackers.
"It's ready."
A moment later, Shang Shiming reappeared and nodded at Fu Qian.
Fu Qian didn't say anything, simply standing up to follow him down to the next floor.
Seeing this, Li Min and Rachel followed silently behind.
The four of them soon arrived at the bottom of the Stone Tower, where Shang Shiming gestured for Fu Qian to stand in front of a particular wall.
"Watch for my signal. When the time comes, just break this wall."
"No problem."
Fu Qian glanced at the stone wall in front of him.
As a genuine load-bearing section, it was undoubtedly thick and sturdy.
But right now, it was covered in cobweb-like cracks.
Not only that, but the entire surface of the wall was peeling away in mottled layers, as if it had suffered the weathering of countless years.
Needless to say, this was definitely Shang Shiming's handiwork.
Fu Qian stepped forward, but then looked outside.
Along with the violent claps of thunder, the rainfall was incredibly fierce. It had even condensed into a fine mist, shrouding their surroundings in a hazy blur.
Even inside the Stone Tower, traces of water vapor lingered, making every breath feel abnormally damp.
Suddenly, Fu Qian felt as if his movements were being hindered by something. As he shifted his body, it felt like moving through thick honey.
Something seemed off!
Fu Qian glanced back and saw uncertainty in the eyes of the other three.
It was obvious they had also noticed the anomaly.
Fu Qian pondered for a moment. The next instant, black fur sprouted across his body and his muscles swelled. Without waiting for Shang Shiming's signal, he threw a direct punch at the wall in front of him.
Naturally, he strictly controlled his strength to remain at the same level as before.
But under that viscous resistance, by the time his fist struck the wall, it was soft and had completely lost its impact.
"This tower seems... to have come alive."
At this moment, Shang Shiming's tone had turned somewhat fearful.
"It's neutralizing the effects caused by my ability—"
"This mist really isn't right!"
Before he could finish, Li Min's voice suddenly sharpened, and she spoke decisively.
"Run!"
