Chapter 400: Dark Side of the Moon

"Hmm?"

Even Fu Qian was caught off guard by the sudden voice.

He was absolutely certain the voice had come from within his own consciousness, having nothing to do with Gan Zuoxun standing nearby.

It was a woman's voice, and it even sounded inexplicably familiar.

Fu Qian lowered his head in thought. In just a few seconds, the skin on his hands had turned a dull, pale white, and his personal presence seemed to weaken along with it.

He was not surprised by this.

He had already experienced the colorless curse twice before.

He wasn't sure if it was because of his advancement to the Demigod Realm, but the feeling of being rejected by the world was much clearer than before.

While pondering this, Fu Qian faintly sensed something amiss. The light in front of him seemed to have grown a bit brighter.

This... was getting a bit too magical, wasn't it?

Even with the sun covered, this level of brightness was abnormally high.

Under the full moon, the deep blue rays dyed the surroundings in a dreamlike haze.

"Heh!"

The voice beside his ear rang out again, this time letting out a soft chuckle.

"Who are you?"

Fu Qian was still trying to place the familiar voice when a sharp shout came from behind him.

He had been too focused, completely failing to notice someone approaching him.

Fu Qian slowly turned around, only to find himself surrounded by a group of people. Leading them was an acquaintance—Daria.

And right beside her stood someone wearing the exact same face as his own.

"Why did you disguise yourself as a guard to infiltrate this place?"

Daria's expression was more severe than ever. She glared at him coldly before looking up in Gan Zuoxun's direction.

This group must have rushed over to check on Gan Zuoxun's condition after the phenomenon appeared in the sky.

Because his attention had been drawn by the voice in his head, he hadn't hidden himself in time and they had walked right into him.

"What did you do to the municipal officer?"

She didn't hesitate in the slightest following her murderous interrogation. A sharp howl of wind tore through the air.

Why did it feel like she was more anxious than Gan Zuoxun himself?

She wasn't going to give him a single chance to defend himself—just slap a crime on him and execute him on the spot?

Fu Qian instantly understood her intentions.

Although he truly had a hard time explaining his presence, her reaction was genuinely suspicious.

His body blurred as he easily dodged the strike. Without a second's pause, Fu Qian smashed straight through the wall of people blocking his path and strode away.

Amidst shouts and cries, alarms blared. Security personnel rapidly converged on the area, and the fierce winds of pursuit bit at his back.

Unfortunately for them, none of it could hinder Fu Qian in the slightest.

Gan Zuoxun's situation could be put aside for now.

He had more important things to do.

Right at this moment, Fu Qian had a strange feeling—something was watching him through the moonlight.

"Hey!"

The next moment, Fu Qian spoke out loud, trying to respond to the voice in his head.

Just a moment ago, he had realized who that voice belonged to—the unnamed Cosmic Pretty Girl he had met in the Painting World last time.

Come to think of it, he had obtained the Blasphemous Embrace during a mission related to her.

"Interesting."

The voice rang in his ears once more, the Witch's words carrying a hint of amusement.

But listening to her tone, it seemed she hadn't received his response.

So it really was a one-way communication!

Undiscouraged, Fu Qian tried to send another greeting using his mind.

Unfortunately, the attempt sank like a stone in the ocean, yielding no response.

By this time, Fu Qian had already reached a secluded corner. Before the voice could speak again, he pulled off his mask.

Returning to the Warehouse once more, the first thing Fu Qian did was examine his own body.

He was still pale and dull; the colorless state hadn't changed.

"Ah!"

At the same time, a soft and charming sigh echoed in his mind.

Fu Qian's gaze fell into the gloomy depths of the Warehouse.

After a brief moment of thought, he directly activated the Imprint on his wrist.

"Dark Moon Knight..."

Simultaneously, the Witch's lament echoed in his mind, before coming to an abrupt halt.

The scenery gradually sharpened. For the first time since completing this mission, Fu Qian returned home.

And this time, there was finally a change.

He carefully inspected his body and couldn't find the slightest trace of color loss.

Sure enough.

Fu Qian waited quietly for a moment, but he didn't hear the Witch's voice again.

Once he returned, that bizarre connection had been severed along with it.

It seemed the issue lay within the colorless state.

The Blasphemous Embrace, along with the colorless state it induced, was clearly connected to the Witch's power.

But it seemed he could only be perceived by the Witch when he was in that world and in the colorless state.

This was also why, even though he had already used it twice in this world, there had been no other anomalies aside from the discomfort caused by the color loss.

It appeared that for some special reason, the Witch could not sense this world.

In contrast, the Warehouse's connection to that world was clearly much closer.

Furthermore, she must have recognized him; that final 'Dark Moon Knight' was proof of it.

Before he left back then, she had seemed to ask him if he was willing to become a Templar Knight.

Looking at it now, she might really have gone and created a Dark Moon Cult.

Interesting.

After verifying part of his speculation, Fu Qian returned to the Warehouse once more.

The moment he arrived, he heard a slightly surprised sigh.

Without any hesitation, Fu Qian slipped on the Emissary Mask and appeared on the Bookstore Second Floor.

"Dark Moon Knight, it seems you stepped away for a moment!"

Outside, the sky was still a rusty iron hue, and the Dark Moon hung high above.

The Witch's voice murmured in his mind, laced with joy.

The next moment, her tone shifted, followed by another soft sigh.

"Though I suppose you are always in a rush."

"But even so, you still bear an imprint tied to my power."

"Wondrous one, my heart is greatly pleased."

"As the Pope, it seems I have not yet rewarded you for your previous actions."

"Then, accept this for now."

As those words faded, Fu Qian felt the full moon in the sky seemingly grow a bit brighter.

At the same time, the deep blue moonlight seemed to pour relentlessly into his body.

A moment later, Fu Qian sensed something and reached up to touch his face.

What his fingers met was smooth and icy—it was not his own skin.

Applying a bit of force, he pulled the object off his face and held it in his hand.

It was actually another mask?

Fu Qian frowned as he examined it.

However, unlike the Emissary, this mask had exceedingly soft features, giving it a very bizarre feel.

By now, it was gradually growing brighter outside the window. The sky-obscuring rust color seemed to be slowly receding.

"Mmm, the connection seems to be fading."

The Witch on the other end seemed to realize something.

"Farewell, Dark Moon Knight. I hope it will be of some help to you."

"Uh."

As the lingering echoes of her voice faded, Fu Qian toyed with the mask in his hand.

Whether it would be helpful or not was hard to say, but if he put this on, he'd literally be wearing two faces.
