Chapter 450: Wasteland Arc (12)

"What did you say?"

Before Fu Qian even finished speaking, everyone in the room stared at him with wide eyes.

How was this tied to the Ji Clan again?

Moreover, Siren's operation was so secretive. How could they possibly know these details?

The group's logic was clearly being challenged.

"Why would someone from the Ji Clan tell you this?"

Old Man Tyr didn't seem particularly doubtful of Fu Qian's words, but he was obviously confused.

"I ran into Ji Yicheng earlier and we chatted a bit,"

Fu Qian said casually.

"Ji Yicheng personally recruited you?"

Nora frowned deeply.

"He's an important figure for the Ji Clan in the Wasteland."

"Although his strength isn't at the absolute peak, he's basically in charge of all their affairs. He's a formidable character."

As she spoke, she realized something and suddenly raised her head to stare at Fu Qian.

"Are you representing the Ji Clan today?"

What!

The others were startled by her words, quickly catching on to what Nora meant.

"Sorry, but we have no interest in joining either side."

Someone immediately declared this in a deep voice.

"Is that so? Won't you think it over a bit more?"

With the group reacting so strongly, Fu Qian broke into a wide smile.

"It's not the old era anymore. In a place like the Wasteland, the value of being backed by a large organization—well, I shouldn't need to tell you that, right?"

He was directly copying Ji Yicheng's lines.

"Understood. Whether it's Siren or the Ji Clan, their organization and efficiency are things we could never match. Unfortunately, we're used to our freedom, and adapting would be difficult."

Tyr spoke expressionlessly, his tone cold.

"If this is Mr. Fu's purpose for coming today, then you probably won't be interested in the rest of our exchange."

This was a direct eviction order!

"Understood."

Facing a circle of unfriendly gazes, Fu Qian's smile didn't diminish.

"That's exactly what I told him."

...

"You rejected Ji Yicheng?"

After a moment of stunned silence, someone quickly caught on.

"Yeah!"

Fu Qian pinched the card Tyr had given him, waving it between his fingers.

"I told him I had already accepted Old Man Tyr's invitation."

...

The group was speechless, slowly turning their heads to look at Tyr.

"It doesn't matter."

Tyr froze for a second before letting out a hearty laugh. He didn't seem to feel much pressure.

"They never really liked me anyway."

"So Ji Yicheng told you this to show his sincerity?"

Then Tyr quickly thought of another angle.

"That doesn't seem right either. These are all things you already knew."

The next moment, his eyes lit up.

"Was he threatening you?"

"Maybe."

Fu Qian waved a hand dismissively. Looking at their racing expressions, he felt incredibly satisfied.

Let the storm rage more fiercely!

Although his strategy was to experience the local customs and try quietly observing changes, he had no interest in actually teaming up with this group to farm in the wild.

As things stood, Siren was striving to control the situation while the Ji Clan watched them like a tiger. He might as well accelerate things and make the entire Wasteland a bit more lively.

"It seems we thought too simply before. This isn't just a secret exploration; it even involves a game between two major factions."

Nora was the first to speak again. A faint tremor in her voice betrayed her lingering fear over her previous behavior.

If they blindly got dragged into a confrontation between two behemoths, they probably wouldn't even know how they died.

"Honestly, although we have Tyr's introduction, we don't really know you. It's hard for us to judge the truth of your words."

Another person spoke up slowly.

"How do we know you didn't just invent this business with Ji Yicheng as an excuse to leak information yourself?"

"Is that so?"

Fu Qian looked at the man—easily the youngest brother at the gathering—and smiled without speaking.

"Idiot!"

Nora snorted beside him.

"Never mind why he would even do such a thing."

"Even you don't want to believe that claim. If the news from just now is true and gets out, he'll be the Siren Group's number one suspect. It wouldn't matter even if Ji Yicheng vouched for him personally."

"Thank you for the intel. Do you want us to keep it a secret within this circle?"

Tyr asked, ignoring the younger man who didn't dare make a sound after being reprimanded by Nora.

"No need, do as you please."

Fu Qian waved a hand.

"I not only strictly abide by my principles, but I'm also happy to share."

"Alright."

Tyr took a deep look at Fu Qian and didn't say anything more.

"If there's nothing else, shall we continue?"

"Wait a moment. I still have one more item."

There's more?

The crowd, who were just settling their nerves, involuntarily focused their gazes on Fu Qian once again.

They watched as he unhurriedly produced another item and tossed it onto the table.

It was a light and delicate Hand Crossbow, Fu Qian's other harvest.

Although the weapon's power wasn't bad, its function overlapped with his pistol, and he temporarily had no interest in dual-wielding.

"What do you intend to trade it for?"

Unexpectedly, this time Madam No. 2 spoke first.

So eager? Could she be the one who was robbed?

Fu Qian glanced at her and dismissed the guess.

Given her strength, she shouldn't have been too afraid of those three guys.

"Bullets. As many bullets as possible that can fit in here."

Fu Qian showed his gun.

Bullets...

Madam No. 2 checked the items she had brought, then finally turned her gaze to someone beside her.

"I don't have that many either."

The person she was staring at was straightforward. He bent down to pick up a wooden box, placed it on the table, and opened it.

"Few of us use this, so I rarely make them."

It seemed this was a crafter-type character.

Fu Qian nodded, looking at the open box.

Inside were four neat rows of bullets, totaling forty rounds.

Two of the rows were silver-white, and a little over one row was pitch-black, exactly the same as what was loaded in his own gun.

The remaining three rounds, however, were rather special. The bullets didn't even look like metal; not only did they have a dead-wood texture, but they were also covered in blood-vessel-like veins.

"These three use a rather special material."

Seeing Fu Qian's curiosity, the crafter considerately introduced them.

"In essence, they won't even damage limbs; instead, they have a super strong activating effect."

"After entering a living body, they'll rapidly fuse with the flesh and blood, highly activating the local tissue to form unpredictable effects."

"For instance?"

"For example, an ear might grow out of the gunshot wound, or it might simply form a living fetus with no consciousness."

Shoot someone and they get pregnant? Interesting.

Fu Qian rubbed his chin.

"Deal."

Imagination was very important. Perhaps the value was indeed a bit lacking, but the concept alone was worth quite a bit.

Madam No. 2 was originally a bit nervous, but seeing Fu Qian so decisive, she relaxed.

Just as she was about to say thanks, a knocking sound suddenly came from behind.

The crowd all looked over at once. Tyr frowned slightly, stood up, walked over, and pushed open a section of the wall.

So there was a hidden door here too. This group of people might have all come in through it.

Fu Qian nodded.

The next moment, as the hidden door opened, a rugged, unshaven man walked in with a solemn expression.

"Something big has happened. Someone from Siren was assassinated."
