The sudden sound of coughing was distinctly jarring in the dead of night.
Joseph froze mid-motion while pulling down his pants, and Daniel, standing right beside him, was instantly stunned.
A moment later, they realized what had happened. They turned toward the sound in unison and spotted a figure.
"Carry on, don't mind me."
Meeting their stares, Fu Qian casually waved a hand to gesture for them to continue.
How could they possibly carry on!
Having never imagined there would be an audience right outside, Joseph practically scrambled upright, an animalistic groan tearing from his throat.
He seemed to recognize Fu Qian, though he was clearly struggling to process the situation.
Subjected to one intense shock after another, the man was on the verge of passing out.
Daniel growled softly.
Fu Qian's face had clearly dragged up some unpleasant memories for him.
Of course, having the guy show up here right now was an even worse situation.
A second later, something seemed to click for Daniel. He looked down at Medea on the floor, his voice dropping to a resentful snarl.
"And you claimed you two weren't in this together."
"Fu Qian?"
On the ground, Medea was visibly dazed. She hadn't recognized Fu Qian at first, but she finally matched the voice to the person, overwhelmed by a sudden mix of shock and relief.
But Daniel's words immediately threw her back into confusion.
"What do you mean, in this together?"
"Our classmate Daniel here seems to think we colluded to set up a honey trap for him."
Faced with her confusion, Fu Qian offered a concise explanation.
"How is that possible!"
Medea found the accusation utterly absurd and instinctively refuted it.
But she immediately caught the implication and snapped her head up to glare at Daniel.
"Is that why you tried to kill me?"
"You're... completely unreasonable!"
"I despise being threatened."
Feeling the weight of Medea's anger, Daniel looked slightly guilty, yet he still managed a cold sneer.
Fu Qian actually understood this reaction perfectly.
Forced by circumstances during the day, the guy had begged him for mercy. Once he returned and regained his composure, he had clearly descended into a state of humiliated rage.
As a result, he desperately needed an emotional outlet.
So whether it was truly a honey trap didn't matter at all!
In all likelihood, once Medea was dead, he would be next.
Judging by what Daniel had just said, it was easy to tell that his family held significant influence around here, fully capable of pulling a few strings.
What a pity. If only to preserve his SAN Value, Fu Qian definitely couldn't let the guy get what he wanted.
"So what exactly is your play here? Come inside and take this woman away?"
Daniel clearly realized this was going to be troublesome and spoke directly to Fu Qian, subtly baiting him to enter.
"Not at all. I'm just taking a stroll after dinner. Do as you please."
However, Fu Qian wasn't in any rush. He simply stood casually outside, not shifting his feet an inch.
He knew full well that as long as he stood there, the murder inside the classroom wouldn't happen.
Even if Daniel wanted to do it, Joseph would absolutely stop him.
By now, Medea had struggled to her feet and was edging toward the window.
Joseph panicked and instinctively reached out to grab her, but he hesitated.
"What do you think she really is?"
Daniel had naturally noticed Medea's movements as well, but instead of stopping her, he just sneered at Fu Qian.
"This woman is an absolute whore through and through!"
He pulled an envelope from his pocket, took two steps forward, shoved the window open, and tossed it to Fu Qian.
"Take a good look. Every single person in there used to be your precious Ms. Medea's lover."
Hmm?
Fu Qian caught the envelope, gave it a squeeze, then casually pulled one out, confirming his suspicions.
The envelope held the private collection he had seen earlier, the one Medea kept locked in her drawer.
"Where did you get that?"
Medea's eyes instantly went round.
"There's no need for you to act like your feelings have been betrayed."
Ignoring Medea's outcry, Fu Qian looked at Daniel in exasperation.
"You stole this to use after you killed her, didn't you?"
He certainly didn't think the Daniel standing before him was naive enough to have been tricked romantically.
His relationship with Medea was purely transactional.
And his reason for stealing Medea's private collection was obvious—after Medea supposedly eloped with a student, he would bring it out to expose her true colors.
Of course, his reason for pulling it out right now was likely because he couldn't figure out Fu Qian and Medea's relationship, and he wanted to see if this would get a rise out of him.
Ideally, Fu Qian would storm off in a fit of anger, leaving Daniel room to operate.
What a pity. The joys and sorrows of people weren't connected, and he was a ruthless task runner.
Fu Qian glanced at Medea through the window. She was pale as a ghost, looking as if she had just suffered a devastating blow.
"As the saying goes, a knife is at the head of the character for lust!"
Fu Qian let out a long sigh, taking on the posture of an enlightened sage as he casually handed the envelope back inside.
Medea instinctively took it. Her eyes were hollow, and she seemed entirely unsure of how to react.
"Very well!"
Medea wasn't the only one dumbfounded. Daniel had been staring at Fu Qian this entire time, but the latter's reaction left him in despair.
Even though he couldn't determine Fu Qian's exact relationship with Medea, it was obvious the guy couldn't care less about what was in the envelope.
And based on his actions just now, he was clearly intent on saving Medea.
It wasn't that Daniel hadn't considered finishing them both off. However, going by their previous encounter, this guy's combat skills were clearly top-notch. With him standing outside, if he decided to run, there was absolutely nothing Daniel could do to stop him.
But just letting her walk away was equally unacceptable.
Knowing Medea's personality, after walking right up to death's door, she would absolutely not let this go.
"Grab her and don't let go, or we're both finished."
Daniel shot Joseph a look, signaling him to step up and restrain Medea.
The latter shivered, instantly awaking as if from a dream.
Upon processing Daniel's words, he quickly grasped the reality of his own situation.
The next moment, Joseph displayed startling agility, rushing forward to pin Medea down just as she tried to scramble out the window.
Click!
Right then, another flash of light went off inside the classroom, bathing the struggling pair in its glare.
"What are you doing?"
Realizing what had happened, Joseph stared in disbelief at Daniel, who was holding a camera, and roared in a low voice.
Unfortunately, the only response he received was the crisp snap of his neck breaking.
"You can leave now."
Lowering Joseph's corpse slowly to the floor, Daniel stared at Medea and spoke.
