"Hmm..."
Naturally, Medea failed to grasp the deeper meaning behind Fu Qian's remark. Assuming he simply had no interest in chatting, she clamped her mouth shut and sat there in suffocating silence.
Then again, sneaking off to fool around with her own student only to be caught red-handed by two different people was deeply humiliating in hindsight.
An intensely awkward atmosphere filled the car.
"Did...
"Hmm..."
Medea obviously didn't grasp what Fu Qian actually meant by that, simply assuming he had no interest in chatting. She clamped her mouth shut and sat there in tense silence.
Then again, sneaking out for an intimate rendezvous with her own student, only to get caught in the act by two separate people—looking back on it now, it was genuinely mortifying.
An excruciatingly awkward silence settled over the car.
Desperate to dispel the discomfort, Medea tried to find a distraction, only for something to click in her mind.
She hadn't thought much of it at the time, but in hindsight, Daniel had clearly been intimidated by him—completely unlike his usual self.
They must have crossed paths before, and Daniel had likely come out on the losing end.
Of course, even now, she still couldn't fathom why this student of hers was doing any of this.
At first, Medea had assumed his bizarre behavior stemmed from an infatuation with her.
Yet after several interactions, she was certain he was nothing like a hormone-driven youth; she couldn't detect even a flicker of desire in the way he looked at her.
His movements were elusive, his motives an absolute mystery.
"Yeah, and his two lackeys."
Fu Qian readily confirmed her suspicion.
"Is that how you hurt your feet?"
Medea asked, keeping her head lowered.
"That's a different story."
Fu Qian's response was as terse as ever.
He wasn't surprised that she had noticed his injury.
Even though he had changed into a new pair of shoes, there were still nine distinct holes punctured through his feet, most of them clean through.
Given his current mortal constitution, walking away without it affecting his mobility was out of the question.
...
Seeing that Fu Qian had no interest in elaborating, Medea tactfully refrained from probing further. She looked straight ahead, her gaze drifting out of focus.
"Do you think I'm a bitch too, just like they do?"
After a moment of silence, apparently still dwelling on the exchange from earlier, she asked in a faint voice.
"Did that bout of oxygen deprivation damage your brain?"
Unfortunately, Fu Qian had zero interest in her sudden introspective vulnerability.
"You've already embraced the Slaanesh route, so why do you care whether people think you're a bitch?"
...
Fu Qian's blunt reply successfully bought him a stretch of quiet peace.
"My place is just up ahead."
After some time, Medea spoke up cautiously, letting him know they were close to their destination.
They had driven a fair distance from the school by now, and judging by the surrounding architecture, this neighborhood was visibly far more upscale than Fu Qian's area.
"Great. Get out."
Much to Medea's astonishment, the moment the words left her mouth, Fu Qian slammed his foot on the brake.
"Here? But we're not there yet!"
Medea's face was a picture of sheer disbelief; she hadn't expected him to stop right here and kick her out onto the street.
Just moments ago, she had even been fretting over an awkward dilemma—wondering how she ought to react if this student insisted on following her upstairs after dropping her off.
Who could have anticipated...
"You have ten seconds."
Fu Qian didn't bother explaining and immediately started counting down.
Though he had no interest in Medea, as a polite person, he wouldn't normally have minded driving a few extra yards to drop her at her doorstep.
The reason he was ejecting her so decisively was that, right as Medea spoke, a prompt had chimed in his mind.
[Mission complete. Current mission updated: Await police apprehension inside Medea's home.]
The instant the mission appeared, Fu Qian couldn't help but pull a bizarre expression.
The underlying logic was truly hard to comprehend.
Apprehension? Why did it make it sound like he was being treated as a criminal suspect?
The problem was that, from the beginning until now, he hadn't committed
