"What... do you mean?"
Sawada had been on the verge of flying into a rage, but the moment Fu Qian spoke, he shuddered, his anger freezing over.
"Was I not clear?"
Fu Qian held up his mangled hand. Even in that brief moment, the wounds had already healed significantly, leaving Sawada staring in disbelief.
"Although your actions offended me, I'm not bored enough to waste energy on anger. When a situation loses its balance, the only thing to do is find a new one."
"I used to be quite satisfied with my life, but since that's no longer sustainable, I'll just have to find some new entertainment."
"I must admit, this feeling of liberation is quite nice."
As Fu Qian spoke, he tightened his grip. With a teeth-jarring screech of metal, he tore loose a chunk of the bed frame that had been welded to the floor, then looked up at Sawada.
"So, by your standards, what level do I belong to now?"
Realizing that Fu Qian wasn't joking and had genuinely changed his mind, Sawada swallowed hard, his eyes fixed on the torn welds.
"Your strength has grown absurdly, not to mention your speed from earlier..."
He cast a glance at the turkey's head that had rolled off to the side.
"It's almost at the Official Transcendent Level. Even if that hadn't been a sneak attack just now and you'd fought head-on, you probably wouldn't have been at a disadvantage."
"But this is just too bizarre. At the very least, I've never encountered a case like this. According to your file, you're just a middle-aged man in relatively good shape. The crucial point is you haven't even taken a potion yet..."
"Couldn't I have just had an epiphany?"
Fu Qian said impassively.
"Almost impossible."
Sawada shook his head, his tone remaining firm.
"Even after taking a potion, the odds of manifesting a Miracle are akin to winning the lottery. If people could just casually achieve an epiphany—even if the odds were exactly the same—do you think there would still be any need for Miracle Potions?"
"When an extremely rare event suddenly occurs, it's highly likely there's a deeper underlying reason. Simply chalking it up to chance is incorrect."
"You're exactly right, which is why this will make for a good story," Fu Qian suddenly interrupted as Sawada muttered to himself.
"What do you mean?"
Sawada clearly didn't process this right away.
"Wasn't your original reason for doing this just to submit a flawless report?"
Fu Qian gestured at their surroundings.
"Whether your goal is a promotion, a raise, or to exchange for materials, I don't really care."
"Right now, the situation might seem impossible to salvage, but what if I were actually cooperating with your test?"
"The chosen test subject accepted your advice, drank the appropriate Miracle Potion, and underwent a unique transformation—one far more drastic than anyone else's. I imagine Anjing would be very interested in a case like that. So interested, in fact, that the test subject losing control and casually killing an employee wouldn't even matter."
"At the same time, the test subject is willing to cooperate with follow-up testing. His only demand is to receive security services from the Anjing Group—real security services, to protect him from the Night Watchers' harassment."
"What do you think of this story? Or rather, what do you think your leadership will think of it?"
"And even though you spearheaded it, you simply fulfilled your duties throughout the process, and even successfully obtained unique results. You can submit all this openly and proudly, then just wait for the Group's decision."
Fu Qian smiled, his voice like the whisper of a devil.
"But... potion testing has strict procedures..."
Sawada was faintly tempted, but he still looked troubled.
"Indeed, which is why we need to hurry, before anything gets discovered."
Fu Qian's smile didn't waver.
"We need to play with the timing to make the whole process look reasonable."
"How can I be sure you won't turn around and betray me?"
Faced with Fu Qian's proposal, Sawada plunged into an intense internal struggle. But amidst his hesitation, he suddenly realized something.
"The Group will undoubtedly be interested in a special case like yours. Once I get you out of here, you could completely bypass me and go straight to the Group for asylum. I don't believe you're kind enough to help me for nothing."
"No wonder you're still stuck at the bottom. You still don't understand what matters most to a large organization."
Fu Qian sighed.
"Stability. That is the number one priority."
"A special case suddenly appearing out of nowhere, with completely incomprehensible causes and effects? As tempting as it might seem, wouldn't they wonder if it was a poisoned apple thrown out by someone with an agenda? Like some organization setting a trap?"
"But if this poisoned apple was cultivated internally, with everything fully under control, then even if it grew surprisingly unique, wouldn't it be far more manageable?"
"To your leadership, those are two entirely different things."
Fu Qian let out a rather mocking laugh.
"Honestly, after dealing with you and your partner, the appeal of transcendent power has faded a bit for me. The facts prove it doesn't seem to do much for the brain."
"But you do possess one relatively valuable trait: you understand boundaries, at least a little. I detest rude people."
...
"Deal!"
Under Fu Qian's repeated provocations, Sawada easily accepted his explanation and spoke through gritted teeth.
"Go to The Company on time tomorrow. I'll arrange the preliminary examinations and pick a suitable potion for you."
"No."
Faced with Sawada's arrangement, Fu Qian immediately shook his head.
"You'll list out all the potions, and I will choose. I don't like being without options—and I want it now."
"Impossible. What kind of crazy talk is that?!"
Sawada practically roared.
"Everything related to the potions is strictly classified data! It's absolutely impossible to get!"
"It is possible, otherwise you'll die."
Fu Qian's tone was flat but resolute, and he even sat back down in his chair.
"Go give it a try. I believe in the limitless potential an ambitious young man can tap into."
...
"This is the absolute most I can get."
The silence in the room was shattered as Sawada opened the door again.
Looking quite manic, he tossed over a stack of documents.
"So you couldn't get the specific formulas and effects?"
Picking up one of the documents from the bloodstained bed, Fu Qian examined the contents on the page.
Despite repeatedly stressing that the data was top secret, when faced with his own desire to survive, Sawada had still been forced into a dangerous attempt.
And what lay before Fu Qian was the ultimate result of him mobilizing every resource at his disposal.
Right now, the few pages were densely packed with identification codes and their corresponding potion names.
It seemed that aside from the specific formulas, Anjing's level of secrecy regarding other information wasn't absurdly high.
After a quick flip through, Fu Qian soon spotted a familiar string of characters—HAP0032-667. And its corresponding Miracle Potion name was "Writhing-7".
