‘The name is wrong?’
Fu Qian didn't believe for a second that a Chinese room devoid of self-awareness would mispronounce a name.
Not to mention that Ariel was clearly gunning for the God of Clamor. His earlier attitude indicated that this was his core objective.
‘Refusing the help of uncontrollable elements for the hunt... chanting the wrong name amidst the Tide of Clamor... possessing the ability to distort perception...’
Even now, Wehle made no move to help him.
Pieces of information flashed through Fu Qian's mind like streaks of light, and understanding suddenly dawned on him.
‘This hunt by the Origin Council... it's an entirely different concept, isn't it?’
‘They aren't trying to destroy the God of Clamor's body, but His perception. They want to make Him believe His name is something else.’
...
Descending like a deity, Ariel undoubtedly shocked everyone present.
Even Cassandra, who had casually killed over a dozen people instantly atop the Lighthouse, couldn't help but let out a mortal's gasp of surprise.
"Ariel? The Origin Council?"
A moment later, something seemed to click for her, and she gritted her teeth at Wehle.
Clearly, she had caught wind of this intelligence as well.
"The Origin Council."
Standing across from her, Wehle cooperatively acknowledged the name.
Facing two Demigods alone, he seemed unwilling to cause any misunderstandings.
"What exactly are you trying to do?"
Beside Cassandra stood Chelfus, who appeared somewhat younger than her, possessing sharp, deep-set features and eyes as piercing as knives.
"Apologies, but I genuinely don't know. My part is already done."
Wehle's smile didn't waver. He looked up toward the depths of Dunis City and murmured to himself.
"However, it seems someone else's task remains unfinished."
Faced with this shameless attitude, the hot-tempered Chelfus barely suppressed his fury, holding himself back from attacking immediately.
Although it was two against one, the other side had a Divine Emissary as well as a Demigod hiding without a trace.
More importantly, the priority was figuring out their goal. This was no time to vent anger.
"R-o-m..."
By now, the howl erupting from Ariel's mouth echoed across the entire pier.
Rolling within the storm, Hamadus was clearly affected by it, its movements becoming even more chaotic and erratic.
But that wasn't the most important part. Following Ariel's actions, the Clamor from the over one hundred thousand people converging from the three Horn locations began to change.
As the sound violently reverberated, it rapidly transformed into the name Rom.
"Stop him first."
Watching the colossal, deformed body gradually stabilize within the storm, Chelfus's Demigod instincts filled him with a mounting sense of unease.
After shouting to Cassandra, the chief of the Night Watchers leapt directly off the Lighthouse, his body tracing an arc through the sky.
Before he even landed, tidal patterns bloomed across his flesh. They twisted and stretched, rapidly contorting his form into something inhuman.
Fu Qian watched as a neck thick as a barrel erupted from Chelfus's side. Its tip ripped open in two, revealing savagely sharp fangs.
By the time Chelfus hit the water, there were a full three of these eyeless, gigantic heads.
They hadn't just grown out of his body; they appeared to have complete bodies of their own, deeply embedded within Chelfus.
As the giant heads thrashed, the Demigod's body was constantly pulled and distorted.
Faintly, one could even see more than just those three. Several thinner, serpentine figures roiled beneath his skin, trying to burrow out and rendering his body even more unrecognizable.
‘An incomplete Mythical Form?’
To interrupt Ariel as quickly as possible, Chelfus was clearly risking everything.
Churning up monstrous waves, the three massive heads lunged in unison, snapping their jaws at Ariel in the center of the storm.
Unexpectedly, this apocalyptic strike hit nothing but empty air.
It was another distortion, and its effect was terrifyingly exaggerated.
Fu Qian watched the three heads brush past Ariel from different angles, leaving him completely unscathed.
‘It seems that Glove is a transcendent item of a very high Rank. It can amplify abilities significantly, otherwise a Divine Emissary wouldn't go out of his way to wear it.’
As for why Valentin had also worn one earlier, Fu Qian had already guessed the answer.
‘That was likely just a replica, crafted by Raven Feather using some special method.’
‘That's also why the Glove vanished so easily after Cassandra attacked him.’
‘Of course, if the two Talismans I have produce a similar effect, they're probably replicas of a replica.’
...
Having missed the first strike, Chelfus's assault wasn't over.
After plunging into the seawater, the three misled heads quickly breached the surface again. They completely surrounded Ariel, locked onto him, and bit down with lightning speed.
Ariel remained motionless.
In the next moment, an even more bizarre scene unfolded: the three fanged maws had somehow clamped down on each other's necks.
Blood sprayed. This sudden, severe injury caused the three heads to look up at the sky and wail.
Horrifyingly, even these wails faintly sounded like they were calling out for "Rom."
...
"Chelfus!"
Up on the Lighthouse, Cassandra clearly couldn't understand how things had come to this.
Her body rapidly turned into a silhouette, attempting to repeat her earlier trick and travel through the darkness to rescue Chelfus.
Unfortunately, a gold-inlaid cane tapped the space around her once more.
Cassandra's silhouette shuddered, and ultimately, her true body reappeared right where she stood.
"My apologies, but I can't just stand by and let you go over there."
Wehle was still smiling.
"In this situation, let's just pretend neither of us is here."
...
Facing Ariel, Chelfus was undoubtedly in a terrible state.
In just a few seconds, his trump card—his Mythical Form—had ended up severely injuring him, and with Cassandra tangled up, she couldn't offer any help.
Under such heavy trauma, his mental state had grown chaotic, showing faint signs of losing control.
The most telling sign was that he was clearly trying to retract his Mythical Form, but the three heads, despite constantly shifting in shape, continued to bite at each other in a frenzy.
And his target hadn't even glanced at him once from start to finish.
Ring!
At this critical moment, a different sound pierced through the Clamor, as though someone had rung a Bell.
The chime wasn't loud by any means, yet the three rampaging sea serpents instantly froze before rapidly dissipating.
‘This is...’
Everyone who currently retained their sanity was at least of the Demigod Grade. Naturally, they didn't miss such an anomaly.
In the next moment, numerous gazes snapped over, landing in unison on a figure standing beside Chelfus, a figure wearing a mask.
