Chapter 67: Ill Omen Must Die (13)

This survival talent is a bit much!

Fu Qian stared at his lifeless arm, rapidly analyzing the information he had just received.

If his guess was right, Ill Omen had reacted the moment Fu Qian entered this place, causing a minor glitch in Lu Xing's preparations to draw his attention.

It was practically a fully automatic, multi-dimensional survival system.

As for how he achieved this, it might have had something to do with that tree he saw.

That entity was clearly of a high Rank. As the object of his worship, it provided him with a special kind of protection.

In that case, the logic behind Ill Omen being so difficult to kill finally made sense.

But if that were true, he would need to adjust his operational strategy.

This protection could sense even the mere intent of danger, swiftly reacting to mislead attackers.

While Fu Qian sank into thought, Lu Xing made his next move.

He rubbed his fingers against his neck until he finally found what he was looking for. Pinching it with his fingertips, he let out a pained groan as he yanked it out inch by inch.

Blood trickled slowly from the wound, yet Lu Xing acted as if he felt absolutely nothing.

Fu Qian glanced at the object in his hand. It was a transparent strip about twenty centimeters long, faintly etched with peculiar patterns.

The moment the strip was pulled free, Lu Xing's aura rapidly shifted into something bizarre, completely shedding his facade of a normal human.

This must be what he used to conceal his aura. The effect was clearly quite good—at the very least, it had successfully fooled Lu Jun and his partner.

Oh, right! And his wife.

"I just suddenly realized that killing genuinely brings pleasure."

"My previous mindset might have been entirely wrong."

Lu Xing threw his head back and laughed, looking utterly deranged.

"I have to thank you. You and that bitch Geng Yue made me realize this."

"The curse I bear actually has its purpose. At the very least, it lets me slaughter any trash I find displeasing."

At that moment, streaks of strange patterns faintly seeped through the surface of his skin, adding an even more sinister air to his presence.

What a perfect villainous character portrait.

But you're a Tier 7 at best. What are you even showing off for!

Fu Qian shook his head and simply stood up, meeting Lu Xing's horrified gaze.

The next moment, he shook his body. Flakes of Skin bearing those black patterns peeled off him, decaying to ash the instant they detached.

I was just playing along, yet you took it entirely too seriously.

The moment the attack landed earlier, that outer layer of Skin had already separated from his body.

"Thanks for the hospitality. I'm a bit busy, so I won't intrude any further. If you want revenge, I, Qin Mingze of Lincheng, am ready whenever you are."

"How is that possible—"

Lu Xing delivered a perfectly standard cannon-fodder line.

"You were clearly... why..."

That's very hard for me to explain to you, seeing as the gap between our levels is a bit too wide.

Fu Qian shot him a single glance, then turned and walked toward the exit.

"You didn't come here for Geng Yue."

Lu Xing seemed to suddenly realize something.

"You've been toying with me this whole time?"

Lu Xing gritted his teeth. His eyes turned increasingly feral as he reached out and grabbed the Crossbow he had set aside.

An instant later, another cold flash of light shot forward.

But it was as if Fu Qian had eyes on the back of his head; he easily dodged the sneak attack.

However, right after firing that shot, Lu Xing closed the distance silently. Slipping a bizarre Glove onto his hand, he lunged straight for the center of Fu Qian's back.

Since you're so insistent.

Right before Lu Xing's terrified eyes, Fu Qian blurred into a faint phantom.

The very next second, Lu Xing's body was struck as if by an invisible cannonball, sending him flying backward.

Even before his body could hit the ground, Fu Qian was already waiting for him, stomping down hard with his left foot.

Boom!

Fierce winds howled as shockwaves blasted outward.

Lu Xing suffered a massive impact, his body convulsing like a torn rag.

Following a sickening series of crackling sounds, he slammed heavily onto the floor.

Weak as hell. If this guy is actually Ill Omen, I'll eat my keyboard.

Without sparing another glance at the dying Lu Xing on the ground, Fu Qian opened the door and left.

Everyone had their own convictions. Wanting to be a normal person, willingly living an ordinary life for the sake of love—perhaps that was hard to judge as right or wrong.

But immediately turning into a villain after being betrayed by a lover, completely rejecting your past self, was nothing short of sheer stupidity.

Last time, Ill Omen had merely sacrificed a retired Transcendent Tier who had just reached Tier 6, along with Huang Jianyuan's group, and it had immediately triggered a Calamity Descent.

This meant his current accumulations were already more than enough; he was incredibly close to success.

Time was running out. He needed to fight speed with speed; there was no time to waste tangling with this guy.

...

Staring at the Huang Manor in front of him, Fu Qian rapidly sketched a map in his mind, recalling the exact route he had taken last time.

Fu Qian's memory had always been excellent; remembering those details wasn't difficult at all.

If Huang Yuanchang was indeed Ill Omen, then that dead retired Transcendent Tier was still an absolutely perfect target.

A relatively isolated living environment and an effortlessly accessible opening for a sneak attack.

There was absolutely no reason not to take advantage of it.

The grand gates and Plaza were now clearly in sight. Currently, the Huang Manor remained a scene of Anle.

Fu Qian didn't pause for a second, marching straight forward.

With every step he took, his facial muscles and bone structure shifted, rapidly transforming into another face.

By the time he reached the main gates, Fu Qian had entirely taken on the appearance of Huang Jianyuan.

"Open the gate!"

Fu Qian scowled and let out a harsh snort, not even bothering to glance at the guards.

The two guards exchanged nervous looks. Fu Qian's visibly foul mood placed them under immense pressure.

"You've returned so early today, sir!"

One of them finally plastered on an obsequious smile and mustered the courage to speak.

Fu Qian raised his head and shot him a freezing glare.

The guard instantly snapped his mouth shut as they hurriedly opened the gates.

Choosing to disguise myself as Huang Jianyuan was definitely the right call.

From their brief encounters, the man clearly possessed a violent temper. He most likely wasn't the type to hand out smiles to just anyone.

As long as he stood there with a cold face, no one would dare question any anomalies, sparing him the need to explain a single thing.

Breezing through the gates, Fu Qian didn't linger. He advanced rapidly along the route etched into his mind, meeting zero resistance along the way and completely ignoring anyone who tried to greet him.

Soon, the familiar courtyard appeared before him. The moment Fu Qian stepped forward, he caught a faint scent of blood in the air.

Hmm?

Without a second thought, Fu Qian stomped heavily on the ground. His body launched high into the air, leaping directly into the courtyard.

Beyond the wide-open doors, two mangled, bloody bodies were still squirming. Dark tendrils of flesh writhed between the corpses like serpents, stretching out in all directions.

He moves so fast!

Last time, he waited until Huang Leji and the others left the next day before making his move. This time, he just started the slaughter right away.

Was it because he knew I'd come looking for him?

But the situation here would inevitably be discovered very soon, which meant it would be nearly impossible for him to remain hidden within the Huang Manor.

Huang Yuanchang has probably already fled.

Fu Qian thought silently. A split second later, blaring alarms pierced the sky.

It seemed someone had already spotted the anomaly here, and a large swarm of men was currently rushing toward his location.
