Chapter 875: Nourishing Jade

Tan Ying could naturally tell that Fu Qian's customer, who called herself Sissi, was dressed in deceptively simple but undeniably expensive clothes.

Her speech and mannerisms were equally poised; she clearly came from money or status.

This matched what Fu Qian had said earlier. His claim about entertaining a wealthy woman was beyond question.

For a moment, Tan Ying could not help but cast a deep look at Fu Qian.

Young Master Qin had already mentioned that Fu Qian's recent disappearance was to accompany a new wealthy woman surnamed Su on a trip, rather than his previous patron, Rich Woman Wen.

Add this one to the list, and his business was truly booming!

The kicker was that Madam Sissi had apparently come specifically to visit him. He was playing the consultant role with entirely too much prestige!

...

Shock aside, as a well-bred lady, Tan Ying took only a few seconds to rein in her emotions.

"You seem to have switched to another bracelet."

Unexpectedly, Fu Qian stared right at her wrist and brought up the one topic she wanted to avoid.

"What do you want?"

Tan Ying subconsciously pulled her hand back, feeling exactly as if she had been targeted by a thief.

As she spoke, she even flicked her eyes toward Madam Sissi.

Your customer is still here. Are you really just going to leave her hanging without hosting her properly?

Besides, if you didn't give the bracelet you bought for 180,000 to this woman, isn't it highly inappropriate to bring it up right now?

"It doesn't look any worse than the one I bought last time."

Yet, paying absolutely no mind to his customer, Fu Qian shamelessly continued to expose himself.

"What, did you save up another 180,000?"

Tan Ying stared at him for several seconds before firing back.

Since the man himself was hell-bent on self-exposure, she might as well casually play along.

Madam Sissi maintained her polite smile, seemingly completely unfazed by the neglect. In fact, she curiously studied Tan Ying's hand.

"What a beautiful bracelet!"

She voiced her soft admiration, then naturally turned to Fu Qian.

"If the quality is truly comparable, 180,000 is far too low a price!"

Is everyone a professional appraiser?

Fu Qian wondered to himself upon hearing Sissi's absolute certainty.

In truth, Fu Qian only possessed a fundamental understanding of jade and had never really studied it.

Everyone had their own preferences. As for him, he would rather waste brain cells memorizing the exact number of cloves in a head of garlic.

But he had to admit that the solid green jade bracelet against Tan Ying's pale, half-retracted wrist made for a genuinely pleasing sight.

"Jade is all about personal connection. As long as you like it, that's what matters."

Even when complimented by another beautiful woman, Tan Ying remained poised and humble, shooting Fu Qian a quick glare in the process.

"To be honest, I still preferred the previous one. It felt inexplicably comfortable to wear."

Of course it was comfortable. You were nourishing it with your life force.

Fu Qian mused silently. At least they were finally arriving at a useful topic.

"Just track down whoever gifted it to you and ask for an advance on next year's birthday present."

"...Do you think everyone is as shameless as you?"

Tan Ying was left speechless.

"So, did you track them down?"

"...I did."

Then why were you acting all high and mighty a second ago!

Fu Qian cast a disdainful look at Tan Ying's flushed cheeks.

He did not even need to ask. It had obviously been a dead end.

He had deliberately brought up the topic just to see if he could trace the origin of these transcendent items.

"I couldn't ask outright. I probed the person twice, but they apparently acquired it by pure chance and had no idea about its true origins."

Eldest Miss Tan lowered her head, her voice trailing off to a whisper. However, the regret in her tone was unmistakably genuine.

It was obvious she had developed a deep obsession with the item, yet her efforts had yielded nothing.

When it came to collecting shiny baubles, Fu Qian had absolute faith in women's sheer willpower. If she could not find any leads, then tracing the source was a dead end for now.

Still, it had just been a casual probe on his part. He did not feel particularly disappointed.

As the actual culprit behind the bracelet, he thought for a moment before pointing at Tan Ying's hand.

"As the saying goes, people are capable of nourishing jade. Yours might just be lacking some nourishment. Mind if I take a look?"

...

That left not only Tan Ying speechless, but also the young Madam Sissi.

But perhaps out of gratitude for his counseling the day before, Tan Ying hesitated briefly before slipping the bracelet off and handing it to him.

"Be careful—"

Before she could even finish her warning, her voice caught in her throat.

Fu Qian took the jade, his fingers moving with impossible dexterity as they rapidly traced a circle over the bracelet's surface.

In just a few short seconds, a single glance was enough to tell that the bracelet had somehow changed.

It was hard to put into words, but it looked... almost vibrant with life.

Staring at the flawless, translucent jade that now seemed to emit a soft inner glow, Tan Ying temporarily doubted her own eyes.

Glancing up subconsciously, she noticed that Fu Qian's wealthy customer wore the exact same expression.

What on earth? So it wasn't just my imagination?

"Here."

Fu Qian did not give her any more time to marvel, handing the bracelet right back.

"What did you do?"

Stroking the surface, which felt different even to the touch, Tan Ying asked in disbelief.

"Nourishing jade."

Fu Qian calmly held up a single finger.

"I rubbed some hand sweat on it."

...

Tan Ying, who was just starting to roll her eyes at his first sentence, violently twitched and nearly dropped the bracelet.

Fortunately, Fu Qian's reflexes were fast. He shot out two fingers and clamped down firmly on the jade.

"While I do happen to have 180,000 saved up, setting me up for a scam is poor form."

He casually handed it back to Tan Ying.

Accused of trying to run a scam, Tan Ying looked utterly lost for what expression to make. In the end, she silently accepted the bracelet.

...

No special reaction, huh?

From the corner of his eye, Fu Qian had been carefully observing his customer's reaction.

The hand sweat explanation was pure nonsense, of course.

Fu Qian had indeed rubbed something onto the bracelet. It was his blood.

Using his absolute physical control, he had forced a fine layer of blood beads to seep through the pores on his fingers, evenly smearing it across the jade.

He had done so for two reasons.

First, since Tan Ying could not trace the origin of the transcendent items, Fu Qian decided to take the opposite approach. He would forge one himself and see if it triggered any abnormal reactions.

As a demigod, his blood ought to possess at least some measure of transcendent spirituality, right?

And the facts proved him right. The moment his blood coated the bracelet, it seeped straight into the jade, inducing a profound transformation.

Within Fu Qian's perception, long-term wear might not extend a person's lifespan, but the bracelet itself had definitely gained a significantly longer lifespan.

As for his second reason, he wanted to observe his customer's reaction upon witnessing the spectacle.

She was undoubtedly an ordinary human, but her visit was far too suspicious.

Yet, when faced with a transformation that clearly defied common sense, Madam Sissi showed no reaction out of the ordinary.
