"As I’ve said, the ideology of Condenser supremacy also differentiates into various factions. The radical faction believes they are the nobles of the Extraordinary, that moral principles have shackled their nature, and that they should break free from their chains to unleash their Extraordinary Power without restraint."
Ossana also stood up from her seat, walked into the aisle of the bus, and stood together with Bologue and the Imperfects.
"In terms of the current situation, they are the independent faction of the All Secrets Order, eager to escape the constraints of the Order Bureau. Only in this way can they unabashedly implement their visions."
"You claim you’re with the Truth Faction," Bologue recalled Ossana’s words.
"I still agree with the ideology of Condenser supremacy," Ossana continued, "but I believe that while Condensers hold noble positions, they must also bear heavy responsibilities."
"Like what?"
"Like leading humanity, driving the world’s progress, and creating a more perfect society."
Bologue understood Ossana’s meaning. Her ideals align closely with those of the Order Bureau, but the difference is that the Order Bureau views Condensers as a special form of labor, whereas Ossana glorifies Condensers into savior-like Angels.
"Look at my hometown, the Land of Secrets. Although it still has many shortcomings, some of the visions have already been realized there, haven’t they?
The Secret Energy, this miracle power that transforms reality; we can extract endless energy from the Ether, treat stubborn ailments with Alchemy Technology, and even those tormented by depression can reconstruct their minds through the Void Spirit School."
Ossana imagined the beautiful future, her tone light and then heavy. "It’s indeed a beautiful vision, but from the current situation, the radical faction will ruin everything before the Truth Faction succeeds, much like the eternal Blood Tax, transforming Condensers and ordinary people into completely different species... I don’t like such a world."
Bologue could sense the idealism in Ossana, along with the traditional aristocratic spirit, as power and responsibility entwined with her.
"So the Truth Faction does not wish the All Secrets Order to become independent; we want to maintain a cooperative relationship with the Order Bureau, using its regulations as constraints on the radical faction, and thus gain time for the Truth Faction to secure more council seats."
Bologue finally heard some useful words. "So you’re saying you’re on the side of the Order Bureau, right?"
"As it stands now, that’s the case. I want to try to facilitate cooperation between the two," Ossana added, "otherwise I wouldn’t have brought you to the Land of Secrets."
"And your father, Fabien?" Bologue asked again, "Can you represent his will?"
Ossana hesitated for a moment, shook her head, "I don’t know."
"What’s the matter?"
"My father used to be an idealist. Today, much of who I’ve become is greatly influenced by him."
Ossana decided to be honest with Bologue. "But since he became an Order Officer of the Ancestral Council, he’s changed."
"In what way?"
"Just... it’s like he’s been smoothed out, giving up his ideals," Ossana’s words carried a hint of sorrow, "He no longer mentions these things, focusing solely on serving the Ancestral Council."
Bologue was thoughtful but said nothing.
Not considering Fabien’s situation for now, during this period, Bologue often pondered if the All Secrets Order wanted to maintain a firm stance of resistance, they shouldn’t have allowed the Order Bureau and its people to set foot in the Land of Secrets. It’s akin to letting the enemy’s blade pierce into the heart.
It seems clear that this is Ossana’s secret machination; the presence of the Order Bureau is indeed a tool for the Truth Faction to check the radical faction.
The feeling of being used isn’t pleasant, but if it can achieve Bologue’s goals, he doesn’t mind considering it a win-win cooperation.
"Alright, but why me?" Bologue asked again.
"Because you are Undead; I must ensure that no matter what unexpected changes happen, someone must know what transpired."
"Looks like you’re not optimistic about the current situation," Bologue said.
"If I were optimistic, I wouldn’t rely on the Order Bureau," Ossana paused, then said, "Anyway, these are internal matters of the All Secrets Order."
After a long ride, the bus finally reached its destination, and the doors opened, but no one chose to disembark. As the atmosphere was still somewhat tense, Bologue took the initiative to speak.
"Aren’t you leaving? If you stay away for too long, it could attract the radicals’ attention."
It was then that the Imperfects began to move, their eyes falling on Bologue, and then they disembarked one by one from the bus, standing in a row outside, like soldiers awaiting orders.
Bologue was the last to leave the bus, having no time to observe the surrounding situation, and the woman he had been discussing came up to him.
"Yolanda."
She extended her hand to Bologue with a smile.
"To be honest, I always thought you isolated folks would only appreciate ancient operas and wouldn’t be inclined towards new things like movies," Bologue shook her hand politely.
"How could it be? These new things are quite popular in the Land of Secrets," Yolanda said, "The only regret is that, being in a remote area, we often wait longer than you for them."
Bologue liked this woman, of course, primarily because of their shared interests. Compared to power, status, and wealth, the Undead who’ve weathered ages often care more about personal hobbies, and unwittingly, some of Bologue’s actions were turning into those once mentioned in the textbooks.
