Endless Evolution As A Skeleton In A Game-Like World
Chapter 94: [94] Return To Issen [Golden Ticket Bonus - ]Chapter 94: [94] Return To Issen [Golden Ticket Bonus Chapter]
The journey back to Issen had been a long and annoying one.
Ark never wished he had long range teleportation as much as he did during the journey.
By the time they arrived, they were caked in dust, fried by the sun and utterly exhausted.
The first thing they did was to get new clothes. Ark’s cloak was burned, Olivia’s armour was in shambles and Thalia was basically half naked.
Deciding that it would be odd to step into the street that way, Ark sent Sumo and Jenna to buy them some clothes after explaining to them over ten times...
When they were fully clothed, they visited the next important spot. Practically every adventurer returning back to Issen, or Players returning from dungeons and towers visited this spot.
The Hero’s Statue.
Naturally, there were a number of people there when they arrived. Adventurers chattering away about their achievements, while guild members boasted about their triumphs.
Everything sounded like noise.
He already had a headache, and now they were making it several times worse.
Ark felt like cutting off their tongues and using it to tie their mouths shut...
’Hmm...’ He paused. ’When did I start having such dark thoughts?’
He shook his head and walked forward, with Thalia and Olivia by his sides. The moment they got within five metres of the statue, Ark felt an intense feeling of calm overcome his mind.
He had healed up to some degree with the health potion, but the rest of his injuries, the ones the potion was not enough to heal, immediately vanished.
Olivia had some extra, but Ark felt it would be a waste, since they were still going to visit the hero’s statue.
Pop!
Ark felt his humerus get reattached, his shoulder fixing right back into its socket. Then he stretched, a satisfying pop reaching his ears, before he let out a sigh.
Normally, they should have visited the adventurer’s guild to officially complete the quest, as well as sell the monster parts he had gathered, but Ark felt too mentally exhausted to move a bone.
All he wanted to do was eat five bowls of omelette rice, drown himself in wine, and then plump down into a soft bed and sleep until the sun came back up!
And he was not the only one feeling this way, Olivia was even more exhausted than him, and so was Thalia.
"Let’s go get some rest..." Ark muttered.
"Agreed." Olivia quickly added, before they began walking in the direction home.
"Is this the direction of the guild house?" Thalia asked after they had walked for some time.
"Guild house?"
"Guild house?
Both Ark and Olivia asked simultaneously.
Ark scratched his bald head. "What guild house?
"Umm..." Thalia gave him a strange look. "Didn’t you say you wanted me to join your guild?"
"Oh, I almost forgot!" Olivia glared at him. "What was that nonsense about starting a guild, are you serious about that rubbish?"
Ark nodded with conviction. "Of course! I mean, I already have two talented members, why will I stop now?"
"Two members? And when did I say anything about joining?" Olivia folded her hands across her chest.
"Do you think I’m that easy? Do you know how many letters I have discarded on my desk?"
"Yeah, yeah. I know you’re hot stuff." Ark felt like rolling his eyes. He nudged her with his shoulder as they walked. "But you’re going to join me aren’t you?"
"Hmph. I am a Harrow, I wouldn’t be caught dead joining some unknown guild formed by a newbie who hasn’t even crossed level te..."
Something golden sparked in the air, immediately drawing Olivia’s gaze. Drool dripped down the side of her lips as she reached for the item like a goblin, only for Ark to pull it out of reach.
He waved the axe in the air and smiled smugly. "Since you don’t want to join, I guess I’ll just have to give this to someone else..."
Olivia stiffened.
"Hey, Thalia, I noticed you don’t use any weapons. Here, this should work for—"
Olivia immediately snatched the axe out of his hands, hugging it close to her chest. She had grown to love that axe even more than the glaive custom made for her...
Ark chuckled darkly. "Olivia?"
Her face blushed pink as she wiped off the drool. "Alright I’ll join, I’ll join your stupid guild."
Ark shook his head. "No, no. I’m afraid I have lost interest in having you as a member." He sighed.
"Please give me back my axe."
Olivia’s face paled. She held the axe so tightly that the weapon trembled in her grip. "Let’s be r-reasonable, Ark. You know I will make an excellent addition."
Now she was the one trying to convince him...
Thalia stared at the two of them, baffled by the scene playing in front of her. Wasn’t Ark the one trying to recruit her a few seconds ago?
"Am afraid you will have to... convince me."
Olivia frowned. "How?"
"Your wyvern eggs..."
Thalia blinked. She had seen Ark stuff as many as six to seven eggs into his inventory! Those eggs alone would fetch him a hefty price. Olivia on the other hand only had four.
And yet he wanted more?
"How many?" Olivia asked in a cautious tone.
"Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver~"
"What do you think is a worthy offering to join my noble guild?"
Olivia furrowed her brows. "I’ll give you one, the biggest one."
Ark continued staring at her without saying a single word, his hands clasped behind his back.
"T-two eggs, I’ll give you two eggs!"
Ark looked to the side, completely ignoring her.
Olivia frowned, then stared at the axe, before meeting his gaze once more. Only that this time, Ark was staring at the axe as well, as though he wished to repossess it.
"T-three eggs! I’ll give you three!"
"Uhum." Ark cleared his throat, while picking at the fingernails he did not have.
Olivia’s eyes widened, her teeth gritted tightly. "Alright, four! I’ll give you four!"
"Hahaha, it’s great to have such an understanding guild member!" Ark laughed heartily, while patting her shoulder.
"This will go to good use of course, the guild thanks you for your generous donation!"
Thalia simply stared at them with a blank look in her eyes. ’Isn’t that... all?’
She raised her hand. "Um, if there is no guild house, then where are we going to?"
"Hmm? We are going to my place of course." Olivia replied.
Thalia’s gaze moved between them. "I see... you guys live together?"
"Keh—!" Olivia hiccuped. "It’s not like that, you misunderstand!"
"What do you mean?" Ark tilted his head slightly. "We do live together. We sleep together as well."
"Oh.." Thalia’s cheeks tingled with a touch of pink.
"S-shut up!" Olivia stuttered, trying to close his mouth while he laughed. "You’re going to get me killed!"
Once again, Thalia was left speechless. Just what had she gotten herself into?
