Chapter 1875: Ancient Memory

The ice pillar had been broken, and now nothing stood in the way of the core fragments reuniting. The final obstacle had been removed, so very soon Vador’s Legacy Artifact would be restored, and his condition would improve.

Adam understood this, but he also had a personal interest. He was curious to speak with Vador’s artifact, just as he had with Amelia’s before. Furthermore, he wanted to ask about the ice pillar, it was the equivalent of Lakma’s crystal and Queen Elisa’s, or so Adam believed.

“This turned out to be harder than I thought. I almost failed, but it seems that was enough.” Adam looked at the core fragments. They were no longer spinning in a circle. Instead, they soared upward and began gathering energy to merge.

Step.

Adam stepped forward in high spirits.

He had completely forgotten one thing.

FLASH!

With a bright flash, the seal on his forehead burst open, releasing a powerful flow of energy.

“Agh…?” Adam’s eyes widened before his pupils filled with light.

His body froze in place while his mind drifted off somewhere far away, into the past or even into practically ancient times.

Blink.

Adam blinked, confused, as he touched his temples.

“R-Right, I’d completely forgotten about that. Amelia’s artifact said that when I restored Vador’s artifact, the seal would activate and I’d see the memory that caused them to be born.”

The confusion was evident on his face, but so was a growing sense of excitement.

“Well, that was unexpected, but it’s good that she kept her word. And… where the hell am I?”

Strange as it seemed, Adam was floating in the middle of the sky, with a landscape of great snow-capped mountains stretching out before him. In fact, each mountain was enormous, much larger than those found in the artifact spaces and even in the Primal Lands.

Twitch.

A slight tingle ran through his fingertips as a frigid gust of wind swept past him, making him feel the real cold.

Adam’s teeth were chattering, even for him, a K4-Phantom, such low temperatures were pushing the limit.

“How strange…” Adam muttered, exhaling hot steam. “It’s hard to tell, but I recognize this energy. If I had to guess, I’d say this is the Primal Lands, though I don’t know exactly where.”

With difficulty, Adam could make out rare purple particles amid the dense energy. It was the Ancient Energy that shocked Adam.

“Hell, so in this part of the Primal Lands, the energy density is so great that even the Ancient Energy flows freely here?”

Then, Adam looked around, confused.

He realized this was a high-level territory, far beyond what he could withstand.

But it was still just a memory.

“Amelia said that for the Legacy Artifact to be born, a significant event must occur, something that affects the entire world, either directly or as a second-order effect. So… where is this event? Where should I go?”

Strangely enough, Adam received his answer almost immediately.

FLASH!

In the distance, even further deep into the Primal Lands, a bright flash erupted.

Without hesitation, Adam headed there, and in just a few seconds, he had traveled dozens of kilometers. Now, he was a spectator.

“Wait… Are those towers…?”

Adam came to an abrupt halt as one mountain stood out from the rest. It was slightly larger, but what caught his attention were the numerous grand towers covering it.

However, it wasn’t a fortress. There were no high walls surrounding the towers for protection. Still, the towers were connected by wide stone roads running along the mountain.

“Is this a city? Hmm, no, it’s too small. Even if there are more buildings underground, there should at least be walls on the surface. It looks more like a base for some faction or something like that.”

In fact, Adam was right.

Tremble!

His body shook as, in the next moment, he found himself somewhere else.

BAM!

The fist slammed into the table, and the thud echoed through the room, reverberating off its stone walls.

“Father! We can’t allow ourselves to become their subordinates! They’re offering us an alliance, but it’s a lie!”

The young girl with long blue hair stood to the right of the table. She looked like a human, but that was merely her form. Her aura and the blue scales on her face and wrists revealed that she was a monster of a very high level.

Across from her sat a middle-aged man with a deep, solemn gaze. His hair was paler, like ice, and his face bore several wrinkles.

They were both dressed in long, elaborate garments, somewhat reminiscent of ceremonial robes or royal attire.

Besides them, there were other monsters in the room. A multitude of armored warriors stood against the wall, quietly waiting for the two monsters to make a decision, perhaps the most important one of their lives.

“Kae’ra.” The man’s hoarse voice rang out as he looked up at his daughter. “Do you think I like this myself? But now is not the time to think about pride.”

However, Kae’ra clearly disagreed with her father.

“What does that mean? We’re the Frost Dragons Clan! We’ve ruled these lands for hundreds of years! Is the Befallen Crown offering us their help? They can go to hell with their conditions!”

She clenched her fists tightly and bit her lip almost to the point of bleeding.

“They’re liars! They pull this scam over and over again! They offer to make us their allies, their partners, but in reality, the best you can hope for is to be their servants, or even their actual slaves!”

A tense silence hung in the room. It seemed as though the guards agreed with Kae’ra.

Step.

One of the guards stepped forward.

“Master Laerdor, please forgive me, but I am ready to fight for our lands!”

“Yes! Me too!”

Adam looked at them with a confused and curious expression.

‘Hmm? Fight? But against whom?’

TREMBLE! TREMBLE! TREMBLE!

At that very moment, a tremor rang out from the north. Judging by the intense vibrations rippling through the air, it seemed as though a massive meteor, capable of reducing a mountain to nothing, was heading straight for them.

Kae’ra and Laerdor approached the concourse, and Adam followed them.

At that very moment, Adam’s eyes widened, and his jaw nearly hit the floor.

Hovering in midair was a man in a long, pale-blue robe. He had thick black hair that reached down to his waist, and his eyes were as blue as the ocean.

But that wasn’t what surprised Adam.

He knew this man.

“Gladius?”
