Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World
Chapter 383: Spirit Transformation and Take OverAs Alaric’s final words fell, Caelus immediately activated Chaos Bolt and erased him from existence.
Caelus stared silently at the pile of dust that had once been Lord Alaric, but something about the noble’s final words continued to bother him deeply.
"I’ll see you around."
"Next time, you won’t be dealing with an Ace-Rank combat score."
"I’ll make sure to find you in the Tier 2 world."
Those were definitely not the words of a dying man.
Instead, they sounded like the words of someone who was completely certain that he would survive.
Caelus slowly knelt down and examined the remains more closely. Immediately after, his Chaos Perception Eyes activated, carefully scanning every remaining particle of dust.
What he discovered caused his expression to change.
"So this guy was a clone."
The energy signature was incomplete, almost as if it belonged to a copy created from another copy. The real Lord Alaric was somewhere else entirely.
Caelus stood back up and carefully processed the information.
If this had only been a clone, then how strong was the original? Was his real combat score far higher than what the system had displayed?
Was he connected to something beyond this world?
And more importantly, what exactly awaited Caelus in the Tier 2 world?
Countless questions swirled through his mind, but none of them had answers.
However, he couldn’t afford to dwell on them for much longer. For now, getting Ayame, Freya, Candy, and Seraphin Lin out of those cages was far more important.
Caelus immediately walked toward the cages where they were being imprisoned.
Sylvia had already finished dealing with the remaining nobles. Bodies littered the ground around her, some dissolved by acid while others had been completely drained of blood.
Hearing Caelus approach, Sylvia casually wiped her hands clean and walked toward him.
"All done on my end, hubby."
"Good work."
They approached the cages together, and the moment Freya saw them, her eyes immediately lit up.
"Big Brother Origin! Big Sister Sylvia!"
Caelus walked toward her cage and carefully examined the suppression device attached to it.
[Skill Activated: Decay Touch]
Immediately after activating the skill, the suppression device rapidly corroded before crumbling into rust. Then, the cage bars followed soon afterward, collapsing into dust.
Freya stumbled out of the cage and immediately threw herself into Caelus’s arms.
"I knew you would come! I just knew it!"
"Of course I came." Caelus gently patted her head with a smile. "You’re my little sister, aren’t you?"
Hearing his words, Freya’s face immediately lit up with happiness.
Caelus then moved toward the next cage and freed Ayame. Meanwhile, Seraphin Lin was still unconscious, so Sylvia carefully carried her out after destroying the cage.
Candy, on the other hand, casually walked out while chewing her bubblegum as if nothing had happened.
"Yo."
"Yo," Caelus responded with the exact same energy.
Apparently, that was all the reunion they needed.
Caelus looked toward everyone with a serious expression.
"Let’s get one thousand merits for everyone."
Hearing this, they all turned toward him with surprise.
"We need to reach the Tier 2 world as quickly as possible," Caelus continued. "I have a feeling things are about to get complicated."
No one questioned his decision. They simply nodded in agreement.
Just then, footsteps sounded from behind them.
Caelus turned around and found Gorn, StarforgeEmpress, Lucian, and CrystalWarden walking toward them.
"Oh, it’s you guys." Caelus raised an eyebrow slightly. "I was actually thinking about searching for you all."
Gorn immediately laughed heartily.
"We’re glad that you at least remembered us!"
"Why wouldn’t I?" Caelus tilted his head. "You guys helped me during the Genesis Arena event."
Then, he turned toward StarforgeEmpress with a mischievous grin.
"And how could I possibly forget Miss StarforgeEmpress?"
He was now officially stronger than her.
Hearing his words, Valerica crossed her arms and glared at him.
"Don’t think I’ve forgiven you for calling me a granny."
"But you are a granny," Caelus pointed out innocently.
Her eye twitched violently.
However, she knew perfectly well that she could do absolutely nothing to him at this point.
Gorn coughed awkwardly before quickly changing the subject.
"We saw your battle with that noble. That was incredibly impressive."
Caelus didn’t respond to the compliment and instead turned toward Freya with curiosity.
"Looks like you had quite the field trip."
Freya’s eyes immediately sparkled with excitement.
"Big Brother, I managed to awaken my First Transformation! It’s called the Spirit King Transformation!"
"Good work." Caelus nodded approvingly. "Looks like being here had changed your powers for the better. You can now call yourself an Ender properly."
"Of course! I promised I wouldn’t be a burden!"
Caelus smiled at her enthusiasm.
Then, he looked toward the rest of the group.
"Alright, everyone. Let’s move out."
He smiled faintly as his gaze swept across them.
"We have a lot of merits to collect."
The following weeks became a blur of battles and conquests.
Caelus’s group moved from stronghold to stronghold without rest, targeting noble families that had been oppressing players. They also eliminated corrupt factions that hoarded resources or camped around Ascension Zones, collecting merits at an unprecedented rate.
After conquering Vanswara and Mandela, they immediately moved toward Iron Gate Stronghold, which was located relatively close to the first two strongholds.
[Merit Obtained: 1,356]
[Origin Credits: +156,000,000]
The first stronghold fell within three days.
The nobles there had initially been extremely confident in their defenses. However, that confidence completely disappeared when Caelus’s group tore through their strongest forces.
Afterward, they moved on to Silver Moon Stronghold.
[Merit Obtained: 703]
[Origin Credits: +203,000,000]
The second stronghold lasted only two days.
By that point, news about their group had already begun spreading throughout the Path to Worlds. After a player had approached them and asked for the name of their group, Caelus had casually decided to call it Genesis.
From then onward, fear followed them wherever they went.
They didn’t stop there.
By the time they reached the third stronghold, some nobles had already begun fleeing before Genesis even arrived. Others tried to negotiate, while some desperately attempted to bribe them with resources and territory.
Of course, none of it worked.
During this time, Freya began using the God of Combat Training Zone that Sylvia had obtained earlier. She spent every available moment mastering her Spirit King Transformation, and her control rapidly improved with every session.
Her combat score also continued climbing as she refined her abilities.
As for the various pills and resources Caelus and Sylvia had obtained, they distributed them among the group. Since Caelus and Sylvia had already received powerful inheritances, they no longer needed many of the ordinary resources.
Ayame and Candy also grew significantly stronger through constant combat.
Their extraction abilities continuously pulled essence and power from every defeated enemy, allowing their strength to steadily increase. Meanwhile, Seraphin Lin eventually recovered completely and joined the fighting with renewed vigor.
Gorn and his group continued fighting alongside Genesis throughout the campaign.
Even Valerica eventually had to admit that Caelus’s leadership was effective.
Of course, she would never actually say it out loud.
Just then, the chats across every stronghold exploded with discussions about Genesis.
[TerrifiedPlayer31: They just cleared another stronghold!]
[RunningAway_XX: That’s the fifth one this week!]
[PanicMode67: Did you see what the Blood Empress did to the Iron Gate nobles?]
[Nightmare99: She dissolved an entire army with acid blood!]
[HellBreaker01: They call her the Ruthless Blood Empress now!]
[FeetLvr013: If you see a silver-haired woman with red eyes, RUN!]
Sylvia had earned a terrifying reputation of her own.
Her Crimson Eclipse and Hemotoxin abilities had turned her into an absolute nightmare on the battlefield. Nobles who faced her rarely survived long enough to regret their decisions.
Gradually, players began fearing Sylvia almost as much as they feared Caelus.
The people across the Path to Worlds now collectively called her the Blood Empress, while Caelus had earned the title of Dragon King.
[PanicMode67: By the time they leave, there won’t be any nobles left!]
[BallsLover111: Maybe that’s not such a bad thing...]
As news continued spreading, more and more players began joining their cause.
Some wanted protection from the nobles. Others wanted revenge against the people who had oppressed them.
Some simply wanted to stand on the winning side.
Gradually, what had started as a small group turned into a growing movement.
Three weeks into their campaign, something unexpected happened.
During a brief rest period between strongholds, a young man approached Caelus.
He was handsome, with sharp features and dark hair that fell loosely across his forehead. His eyes carried an intense look, suggesting that he had experienced far more battles than most people his age.
The young man stopped before Caelus and studied him carefully.
"You’re Caelus, right?" he asked.
"The Ender of Origin?"
