Sylvia remained trapped within the consciousness of the Ender of Death.
The world around her was dark and formless, yet something strange was happening. Fragments of memory began appearing before her eyes, images and sensations that did not belong to her.
At first, the memories were confusing and disjointed, with faces she didn’t recognize flashing past her vision, voices she had never heard echoing through the darkness, and emotions that weren’t hers surging through her chest.
However, as the fragments continued appearing, Sylvia gradually realized what she was seeing.
These were the memories of the Ender of Death.
Her name was Sylvie.
Sylvie had been born into a world where she was never truly loved. Her parents treated her like a burden rather than a daughter, constantly insulting her, belittling her, and blaming her whenever anything went wrong. What began as harsh words eventually became physical abuse, as her parents struck her whenever they were angry and punished her for even the smallest mistakes.
Because of this, Sylvie learned very early that showing weakness only gave people another reason to hurt her. She became increasingly quiet and obedient, desperately trying to avoid attracting attention, yet no matter how hard she tried, nothing was ever enough for them.
Her treatment outside the home was no better.
The people around her quickly learned that she was an easy target, and even the people she considered friends eventually joined in. They mocked her appearance and humiliated her in front of others, taking advantage of her kindness and treating her as though she existed solely for their entertainment. Whenever she attempted to defend herself, they would simply turn the situation around and make her seem like the problem.
Eventually, Sylvie stopped trying to make friends. Every relationship she formed ended with someone using her, betraying her, or hurting her.
Sylvia watched these memories with growing discomfort.
At first, she had only been curious about the Ender of Death, but the more she saw, the harder it became to remain detached. She watched Sylvie return home with bruises, only for the girl to hide them without saying a word. She watched Sylvie sit alone while other children laughed together, and she watched her desperately try to earn affection from people who had already decided she did not deserve it.
As Sylvia continued watching, she began to understand something painful.
Sylvie had never been given the chance to experience the ordinary happiness that she herself had taken for granted.
Eventually, Sylvie awakened.
Her Ender of Death power emerged with terrifying force, and for a brief moment, Sylvia thought that everything would finally change. Sylvie now possessed power that could make the people who had tormented her afraid, so perhaps she would finally be able to protect herself.
Instead, the world became even crueler.
People feared her existence and called her a monster, treating her awakening as another reason to isolate and persecute her. Even people who had once pretended to care about her abandoned her, while others attempted to exploit or control her power.
Yet Sylvie did not become the monster they expected.
She could have killed everyone who had wronged her, but she did not. Instead, she used her power against those who genuinely deserved it. She killed criminals, abusers, and people who used their strength to prey upon others, while refusing to harm innocent people simply because they feared her.
Even after everything that had been done to her, Sylvie still maintained a line she refused to cross.
The Ender of Death possessed unimaginable power, yet the person behind that power had spent most of her life desperately trying not to become cruel.
Sylvia continued watching as Sylvie’s life became increasingly lonely and tragic until eventually, the memories shifted toward Sylvia herself.
Sylvia saw herself.
She saw the moments she had shared with Caelus, the way Caelus treated her, the way he protected her, and the way they spent time together. She saw the warmth that existed between them, and then she saw the Ender of Death watching those moments from within the shadows of her own consciousness.
Sylvie had been there the entire time.
She had watched Sylvia experience the affection, companionship, and happiness that she herself had spent her entire existence craving. Yet instead of interrupting those moments, Sylvie had simply watched.
Whenever she saw Sylvia and Caelus together, she smiled faintly to herself. It was as though seeing someone else experience the happiness she had never been able to obtain brought her a strange sense of comfort.
Sylvia’s heart tightened as she finally understood.
Sylvie had lived a tragic life. She had been denied love by her family, betrayed by those she trusted, and feared by the world after gaining power. She had been forced to live with an existence that isolated her from everyone else, yet even after all of that, she had still been capable of smiling when she saw Sylvia happy with Caelus.
The memories faded, and Sylvia suddenly found herself standing in the darkness of the Ender of Death’s mind.
And beside her was Sylvie.
The Ender of Death had always been there, but until now, Sylvia had never been able to see her directly. Sylvie stood silently in the darkness, and her expression was no longer filled with the jealousy and madness Sylvia had seen before. Instead, she looked sad and deeply disturbed.
Everything she had remembered had finally become impossible for her to hide.
Sylvia stared at her for several seconds.
"Sylvie..."
....
Far away in the Origin Expanse, Caelus stood before the interface of King’s Gamble.
He had already made his decision.
He was going to reach Level 8, and he was not going to stop there.
Caelus selected the total amount of Origin Energy he had accumulated. The daily generation from all five nodes combined was 37.5 Units per day, and after selecting it, he activated King’s Gamble.
The wheel began spinning at an absurd speed, with countless possibilities flashing across its surface as Caelus watched without blinking.
The result finally appeared.
[50x!]
[Origin Energy Generation Multiplied.]
[Original: 37.5 Units per day.]
[Multiplied: 37.5 × 50 = 1,875 Units per day.]
For a moment, the entire interface remained still.
Then the system began recalculating his accumulated Origin Energy, causing the amount to multiply explosively.
Caelus’s expression remained calm.
He had no intention of stopping.
His target was no longer merely Level 8.
He wanted to reach Overlord Rank.
Anyone who stood between him and that goal would be destroyed.
