Kael appeared silently back into the room. He barely took notice that he was alone when his vision suddenly warped. His eyes seemed to zoom into the distance, ignoring all obstacles and restrictions.

A bright green flame burned furiously before his eyes, and Kael instinctively knew what he was looking at.

'A Talent... a Legendary one at that.'

The system had already stopped displaying a person's class rank at this point. Now, when one gazed above another person's head, what they would see was their level only. And the only way to differentiate between the classes was through the text color. Following the colors of the rainbow, red represented a Common class, orange a Rare one, yellow an Elite class, and so on.

'It seems the same logic applies to Talents.'

If one were to look at Kael's eyes right now, they would be shocked to their core.

His irises were three snakes coiling into themselves, each mouth swallowing its own tail. Locked within them were golden slit pupils that emanated a shocking majesty. Kael's presence at this moment could only be described as otherworldly. Yet, just as the transformation came, it swiftly disappeared, his eyes returning to normal as though nothing had ever happened.

Kael took a deep breath, a curious light flashing within his eyes.

'Was that my Talent's passive? And it seems the person with the Talent was Elena...'

This was going to be an issue. According to his Talent's passive description, his detection covered a range of an entire kilometer. Yet, he had only sensed one Talent!

Only now did Kael realize that devouring Talents might be easier said than done, as it seemed awakening a Talent was very rare.

'All the more reason not to listen to the system's nonsense. I can still grow stronger with my new babies.'

Thinking of this, Kael rubbed Seris' head, the little snake hissing in enjoyment.

- HISS!

He ignored Jinx, as he was already getting used to her bites. Though, he didn't know if that was a good thing. Despite her antics, the little snake left no injury on his body, but he still felt the pain. How that worked, he had no idea.

Kael closed his eyes as he tried to will for his Primordial Ouroboros to appear in the real world. According to the system, despite the three snakes seeming to be growing out of his hair, they were actually in a special space where they could only interact with him.

He drew upon his connection with the little snakes, and for a moment, Kael seemed to see the world through their golden eyes.

But the sensory overload was too much for him to bear, despite it lasting only a mere instant. So, he swiftly abandoned the idea of enjoying the new vision and quickly shifted his intention toward materializing them into the real world.

- VWOOM!

The world suddenly disappeared around him, and Kael found himself in a strange space.

The world was a blend of countless colors and despite not being able to make out much, he could feel the gazes of a great number of presences converging upon him.

The crushing pressure that descended upon him at that moment was as though the entire universe had collapsed onto his shoulders, and Kael felt as though his very existence could be erased at any moment.

He quickly cut the connection he had formed with the snakes, his body crumpling to the ground, a painful cry tearing from his throat.

"ARRGH!"

He wasn't the only one who writhed in pain, as the three snakes also coiled into themselves while hissing in clear agony, Aegon even awoken from his slumber.

Kael felt as though every cell in his body was being crushed and reborn simultaneously. His soul screamed louder than his flesh, while his mind threatened to shatter under an invisible weight. Even breathing felt like dragging molten glass through his lungs.

Luckily, his talent's avatars had been far from materializing into his world.

Kael didn't know how much time had passed as he knelt on the ground. It felt like an eternity, yet also no longer than the blink of an eye.

Slowly but surely, the unbearable pain wore off, and Kael finally collected himself. He gasped for breath and rubbed his eyes to wipe away the tears that had formed from the tormenting experience.

'What was that? Is this what the system meant by a calamity? I didn't even see them, yet merely brushing against their Will made me feel as though my very existence would unravel...'

That was definitely the most horrifying pain he had ever felt, and it was a harrowing experience he never wanted to go through again.

He quickly rubbed Seris' and Jinx's heads, offering them comfort, the latter not fighting his touch this time.

As for Aegis, the male snake writhed for a while, before going still. From beginning to the end, his eyes didn't flash open, rendering Kael speechless for a moment.

He shook his head, weariness showing within his and his two new partner's eyes, and Kael couldn't help but wonder,

'Does the system actually mean well? If that is the case... could the situation with my class have been the same all along? Was Path One actually meant to protect me? '

He couldn't help but wonder if the system had always intended for him to choose Path One.

Even now, he was yet to find someone with a Mythical class, not to mention a Primordial one.

Sure, one could argue he was yet to leave the academy, so his exposure was limited.

Still, after considering all the night events he had been through, and the fact that the highest-ranked monster he had encountered was only an Epic, Kael felt his thoughts might not be too far-fetched.

Even Legendaries seemed rare, as he had only seen one... no, two, if Elena was included.

Kael shook his head and moved to rise to his feet.

It was then that a soft voice tinged with a hint of worry drifted into his ears.

Truth be told, Kael had been feeling a bit disgruntled inwardly. He had told his group to watch out for him, and even if they had been caught off guard by his sudden disappearance, couldn't they have waited behind to make sure he was alright?

However, when he heard that calm voice, one that despite the slight change to it still felt deeply familiar, all traces of dissatisfaction vanished from Kael's mind.

Kael slowly raised his head, his eyes widening at the person standing before him.

"Alice?"
