Despite how much he had gone through and the number of enemies he had killed, Kael only had two Epic items with him. His gauntlets and his spatial ring. He had no recollection of the Legendary Scepter and Epic necklace he had received for awakening his Wills. To Kael, the only reward he had gained was a few meager Achievement Points.

Yet, here was his sister presenting him with something many wouldn't even dream of seeing, let alone affording. In fact, the sniper rifle in his hand seemed to be of an even higher tier than his gauntlets and ring. One must remember that from the Epic rank upwards, each rank was further divided into ten tiers. As for the specific tier of his items, the system didn't display it, as he would need more integration with the cosmic entity to unlock such information.

What Kael didn't know was that only in a world like theirs, that was just experiencing its awakening, could such great treasures be found. He was yet to even come across the many special plants and ores readily available in certain extraordinary locations.

But the truth was that even for newly Awakened worlds, their Blue Planet was an outlier. It wasn't for nothing the mysterious being with Rachel had been shocked many times.

For many average Awakened in the outside universe, it wasn't until they reached the Third Order, or even the Fourth Order, that they would start wielding such high-class items. The only exception were those who came from formidable backgrounds, but even then, these items were not readily available.

Yet Kael, and even several of his group, already wielded them at only the First Order.

"Thank you." Kael smiled before rubbing his sister's head with his free hand, scattering her hair in the process.

Rose slapped his hand away in annoyance before speaking out.

"So, is my gift not the best?"

Kael's eyebrow couldn't help but twitch. He had already told Sophia she had given him the best gift. His emotions had gotten the better of him at that moment, and he had spoken without any thought.

Only now did he realize he had shot himself in the leg.

"Your gift is also good. Very good." Kael looked at his sister with a speechless expression.

But the little girl wasn't satisfied with the answer. Just when she was about to speak again, her eyes suddenly twinkled as she remembered something.

She suddenly flashed a grin, making Kael feel unsettled.

"What about Alice's gift? Do you like it? How does it compare to mine? Is it not also the best?"

She shot out a series of questions, not giving Kael any chance to cut in. The latter paled the more she spoke, his grip on Sophia tightening a bit.

His gaze shifted to Alice at the back, only to lock eyes with her.

Kael quietly gulped.

He summoned the hilt he had received and finally read through the system message.

______

Kael was blown away as he stood frozen on the spot. He almost couldn't believe his eyes.

First was the description. The message didn't reveal much about Alice's trial itself, but it spoke about a genius. What did it mean for the system to attach the word "generational" before genius?

Kael didn't know.

What he did know was that that person must have been extraordinarily special.

And such a person had fallen for Alice while she had not reciprocated his feelings. Even the genius' treasured weapon he had given to her had been handed to him as a gift.

If the genius were to ever find out about such a thing, Kael wondered how he would react in the grave.

Would his spirit haunt him without rest?

'Thankfully, the trial is not real.'

Shaking his head, Kael read through the hilt's abilities once again before lifting his head to gaze at those pairs of amethyst gems.

Even though he had no experience with the sword, nor any skill to shore up his weaknesses like he had for firearms, Kael's grip on the hilt still tightened.

He half wanted to reject it, but gazing into Alice's calm eyes, he couldn't bring himself to.

This wasn't just a gift.

It was also a statement.

He took a deep breath, before voicing out:

"Thank you. This is the best gift I have ever received."

Alice simply nodded back before turning away, her expression remaining unchanged.

Rose's right eye twitched greatly before she spoke with irritation clear in her voice.

"How fickle. Clearly your words don't mean much."

Kael simply ignored her while quietly patting Sophia on the head to alleviate his guilt.

The group continued the celebration, and it wasn't until after a while that Kael took notice of the quiet Natalie and walked towards her.

"Why is your face like that? Did something happen?"

"No, no..." The young girl quickly averted her eyes, her body squirming under his gaze. "It's just that I don't have any gift..." Her words trailed off, and she hung her head in shame.

Kael laughed, the joy on his face clear.

"That is nothing to fret about. Your presence alone is more than enough."

Natalie trembled at his words, but Kael didn't pay attention. He stared at Nathaniel, who was trying hard to mask his glare, and spoke with a smile.

"Come, let's eat together. We are all one family."

The cake was shared and divided among themselves. The group partied, discussed, and enjoyed themselves deep into the morning.

It was then the system decided to also drop its gift.

Nathaniel, who had been munching on a chocolate bar and sipping the juice drink Kael had bought with his own coins to party with the others, suddenly dropped to the floor as a violent seizure overtook him.

"Nat?" Natalie was shocked at the sight, her scream soon pulling the attention of the others. "Nat!"

When the Principal saw this sight, his expression changed drastically, and he teleported beside the young boy.

He knew what this sight represented, and Nat's reaction even seemed more drastic this time, causing an unprecedented grave look to surface on his face.

The feelings of joy, celebration, laughter, and warmth that had permeated the room slowly gave way to a thick gloom that hung over their heads.

Kael's hands clenched into fists.

'You truly have impeccable timing, System...'
