Nathan and Alice stood before the approaching leeches like human walls, determined to also get stronger.

But, the leeches approaching them weren't like the ones Kael had stopped. They were higher leveled and unlike the smaller ones that burst like overripe fruit, these larger parasites had skin like wet leather. Their pulses were slower, heavier, and their many eyes glowed with a faint, predatory hunger. When they hit Nathan’s shield, the sound wasn't a 'splat'—it was a heavy, metallic thud that vibrated through his very marrow.

This time, no one else could come closer to farm alongside them, as piercing the skins of these leeches would prove difficult with Alice's blade. So, Alice and Nathan could only take advantage of the small window they still had before the particularly stronger undead approached.

They shoved the tide of leeches to the side with all their might, as they occasionally switched places to give the other a turn nearer to the side wall, the sound of flesh bursting and splattering against the far ground drifting upstairs.

At the back, Kael quickly approached his sister and Sophia.

"Are you both okay?"

Rose took a deep breath, her body and clothes soaked with corrupted black blood, with only her face wiped and looking a bit better.

"Yes..."

Kael noticed that Sophia seemed a bit out of it, but he couldn't dwell much on her, as there was still a terrifying monster behind them, slowly approaching.

While it might seem like the rare zombie was not a great danger, one only had to remember that there was still a flood of higher leveled leeches pouring out from the monster, not to mention the main body itself was yet to act.

He knew he had to act quickly and brought up the system message he had received.

[ EXP: 300/300]

[ CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE LEVELED UP! ]

[ +1 TO ALL NATURAL STATS, +5 TO ENERGI STAT, AND YOU HAVE GAINED +10 FREE ATTRIBUTE POINTS ]

'Good.' Kael quietly nodded in his mind, before a look of surprise flashed on his face when he shifted his eyes to his stats.

STATS

Strength: 14

Agility: 14

Vitality: 11

Mind: 15

Energi: 40/40

'It seems leveling up will refill all my used energy. The only reason I haven't noticed till now should be because I wasn't in control of my body when I leveled up the last time.'

Kael felt more hopeful about their situation now. With his energi full, there was a lot he could achieve.

'But first, I should use my attributes points. This time I should focus on my strength, after all...'

His eyes focused on his class skills and a new window appeared before him.

[ IGNITION FIST (ACTIVE/EPIC): Effect 1 - Consumes two units of ENERGI, allowing the user to ignite their arms with flames using fire laws. Each strike releases explosive heat on impact. Scales with strength and fire law Comprehension.

Effect 2 - IGNITION MANTLE: Unleashes a burst of flames that repels nearby enemies before forming a mantle of golden fire around the user. The mantle can be detonated, releasing a ten meter wave of flames that incinerate all within range. Skill cost: 10 ENERGi units ]

Ignition mantle was the skill upgrade he had gotten, and what had allowed him to kill those powerful zombies. Though, the skill cost to use the skill was enormous. However, what made him happy was that he could now use ignition fist more freely as its skill cost had reduced. Since the system said the skill scales with his strength, Kael already knew what to do. With his thoughts made, he didn't hesitate and quickly added seven attribute points into his strength stat, and the last three into his vitality stat.

'With the hallway almost completely destroyed, there is not much space for me to maneuver, and my mind stat is already as strong as it needs to be. Better to increase my defenses and stamina.'

The moment he used his attribute points, Kael could feel his body vividly get stronger. A surge of raw heat flooded his muscle fibers, causing them to tighten like coiled steel cables. His bones hummed with a newfound durability, as if his very skeleton was being reinforced with iron, and the fatigue in his lungs was instantly replaced by a deep, grounded sense of tireless vitality.

Kael released a breath when he felt the feeling of enhancement disappear. He clenched his fist and couldn't help but marvel at how powerful he felt.

'I am now twice as strong as a superhuman would be.'

He knew he was yet to unravel the mysteries of his stats; after all, ever since his perception hit ten, he could feel he had awakened some kind of divine sense, one that covered a distance of 10 meters matching the number in his stat. It was just that with everything happening around them, and the system hell-bent on sending them to their death, he didn't have the luxury of focusing on other things. Even now, he was yet to check the items he had received from his previous kills. And he was sure the others were the same.

Kael's expression suddenly shifted when he felt the situation change behind him.

It had barely been a minute since Nathan and Alice took the front, and Kael noticed Alice had long broken to level 5 and Nathan to level 4, the latter's improvement surprising him slightly. But when he saw Nathan's shadow killing the leeches through the gaps left by the duo, while his main body continued shoving the monsters aside, and away from the building, he understood how it became possible.

'Hmm, maybe his abilities are not that bad!'

- KREEE!

- KREEE!

- KREEE!

The sound of the screeches pulled Kael back to the grave situation. He noticed the main body of the undead was about to reach the edge of the destroyed part of the corridor, and couldn't help but wonder if the creature could even reach them. Even now, cracks spread across the ground, and dust rose into the air, with every step the obese and grotesque monster took. If the monster was smart enough, it would have noticed it only had to enter the rooms on the left, and break through the remaining walls to reach them; after all, the attacks from his ignition coat had mainly destroyed the rooms to its right.

However, the thought barely lingered for a second when his instincts suddenly screamed at him. He turned his eyes to the leeches at the side of the main body. These ones were as long as an average man's height, and resembled more a snake than a worm. Yet, the black veins visible through their gray skins and the rows of teeth lining their maws made them scarier than any snake could ever be.

He watched as these level 13 and 14 leeches coiled around themselves, and it didn't take a genius to know what was about to happen.

"COME BACK!" Kael roared at the top of his lungs, his voice filled with urgency.

Several leeches flew into the air, covering the gap in the corridor so fast their bodies turned into a blur as they reached Kael in a split second, a spine-chilling screech assaulting their senses.

- SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
