ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 38: GARGANTUAN- BOOM!
The world didn't just explode; it vanished in a blinding roar of golden light.
When Kael screamed the command, the ENERGI in his veins detonated like a localized sun. The leeches latched onto his flesh didn't even have time to screech before they were vaporized, their moisture turning to steam so fast they popped like overripe seeds.
The shockwave hit the walls first, the concrete groaning as the rebar within snapped like twigs. But the floor—already weakened by the obese monster’s weight and the previous impact—yielded entirely.
As the IGNITION MANTLE expanded, the ground beneath Kael’s feet turned into a molten slurry of slag and dust. With a sickening, hollow crunch, the structural integrity of the floor gave way.
Weightlessness took him.
Kael, shrouded in a fading veil of golden embers, plummeted through the ceiling of the floor below. Alongside him, the massive, scorched bulk of the main body fell like a lead weight, its grey skin blackened and peeling from the intense heat.
They hit the ground of the second floor with a bone-jarring thud, sending a cloud of pulverized concrete and white dust billowing into the air.
Silence followed the roar of the blast, broken only by the sound of falling debris and Kael’s own ragged, blood-choked breathing. He lay in the wreckage, his vision swimming, the smell of ozone and burnt flesh filling his lungs as he stared up at the glowing, jagged hole in the ceiling.
He was down. He was alone. And the monster was still twitching in the dust beside him.
"Huff... huff..."
'I am tired...' Kael's blurry vision slowly came to, his hand shaking from exhaustion. '...I just want to rest.'
His chest rose and fell like the undulating waves of a heavy ocean.
'Let’s kill this bastard first...'
With a groan, Kael rolled onto his stomach before pushing himself to his feet. His body staggered, his equilibrium shattered as he took slow, measured steps toward the bulky monster.
'Smells disgusting...'
He mounted the monster after a bit of a struggle, the creature not even offering a twitch of resistance. It seemed the beast was already one step away from death. Raising his fist, Kael gathered every scrap of strength he had left and boosted his stat for safe measure.
"IGNITION FIST!"
- BOOOM!
- SQUELCH!
Blood splattered across the ground, a crater of pulverized meat left in the wake of the blast. Kael looked at what remained through his hazy vision; the entire upper region of the creature's torso had been eviscerated.
'Finally.... it's over.'
The adrenaline slowly drained, replaced by a leaden weight. He tried to rise, but his legs felt like jelly, and he collapsed back onto the monster's cooling corpse. Golden embers flickered around his body as his ENERGI reserves dropped rapidly—his passive skill working overtime to stitch his torn muscle and skin back together.
'I just want to sleep...'
His eyelids felt like iron shutters. The suffocating weakness of back-to-back battles finally caught up to him. Then, a chilling realization pierced through the fog of his mind.
'Why didn't I receive a kill notification?'
Kael's eyes turned stiffly to the mangled heap below him. As if waiting for that exact moment of realization, the skin of the monster’s lower body suddenly began to heave. The grey hide didn't just move; it churned and bubbled like a pot of black tar over a roaring flame. Wet, rhythmic thumps echoed from within the carcass, as if something gargantuan was trying to punch its way out of a meat locker.
Kael's senses exploded in warning, but without Combat Trance, his muscles were sluggish. He attempted to roll away, but he had barely moved when a massive worm—as wide as a man is tall and tens of meters long—burst out from the ruptured corpse.
- SKREEEEEEEE!
The humongous leech caught Kael from the side, slamming his body into the wall as it rose higher and higher into the air.
"AAAAAH!"
Kael screamed as the flesh of his back scraped against the jagged concrete. The friction was merciless, shredding what remained of his clothes and peeling away his skin until the raw, red meat beneath was exposed to the air. It felt as if a giant rasp was being dragged across his spine, leaving a smear of crimson on the wall as he was dragged upward.
The monster towered twenty meters high, its massive length reaching the upper floors. It pulled back, coiling its neck like a spring to shove Kael directly into its abyss-like mouth, where rows of jagged, rotating teeth glinted like serrated daggers.
Despite the agony, Kael refused to let go. He clamped his legs around the monster’s slick, muscular side. He knew that if he gave this thing enough space to strike, he was a dead man.
He gritted his teeth, his frame trembling violently.
"Ignition fist!"
- BOOM!
"Ignition fist!"
- BOOOM!
- SKRREEEEEEEE!
Kael erupted with one blow after another. Without proper footing, the skills were weaker than usual, but he didn't care. He became a machine of fire and desperation.
Annoyed by the "parasite" on its side, the worm released another angry screech. It suddenly slammed its own body against the wall, using its massive weight to crush Kael against the concrete.
"HUACK!"
Spit and blood sprayed from Kael's mouth. His eyes nearly rolled back into his skull from the blunt force trauma. At the last second, his consciousness snapped back. He tightened his death-grip and rained more fire onto the beast's flank.
The monster lunged into a frenzy. It began to thrash, dragging Kael’s body across the rough masonry of the building like a rag being used to scrub a floor. The sound was a sickening mixture of stone grinding against bone and the wet slaps of Kael’s own blood-soaked limbs hitting the wall.
The battle became a bloody fight of attrition.
Kael's mind turned robotic. His body kept erupting with golden light, the booming echoes of his fists shaking the very foundations of the building. Each explosion was a rhythmic pulse of heat that cauterized his own wounds even as it blasted chunks of grey flesh out of the leech.
Kael didn't know how long it lasted. His vision was no longer blurry; it was dark, stained by a thick veil of his own blood and the black ichor of the beast. He couldn't see the world—only the glowing golden hue of his own fist hitting the same spot of meat over and over again.
It wasn't until a blue window finally flashed across his fading vision that his fingers finally uncurled. The tension snapped out of his body like a broken bowstring. The world tilted, the roar of the monster fading into a distant hum as he plummeted toward the rubble below, succumbing to the dark embrace of unconsciousness.
