Several deep growls shook the area. Even after the end of the second night event, the undead remained on the battlefield, and spurred on by the Elite Crawlers roaring in anger, the others released deep snarls too.

- GRRR!

But that was until that deep guttural growl erupted from the top of the main building in the distance once again. It was almost as if someone had pressed pause on the entire battlefield, as though an invisible hand had silenced the world itself. The battlefield instantly quieted down, and soon after, the horde of undead and corrupted creatures retreated back into the building, with the latter heading behind the massive structure and to wherever they had come from.

At the side of the ruined girls' dormitory, Alice and Nathan quietly watched the sight, goosebumps spreading across their skin.

Just like Kael, they quietly arrived at the same conclusion.

There was something else, something different, a greater horror lurking within the building. And their instincts screamed at them to get as far away from that presence as possible. But...

Alice gripped her blades tightly. They had been alerted by the call of Kael's summon. However, when they arrived, it was already too late. They could only bring Kael back together with the unconscious group and protect them. Thankfully, the undead had not spared them a glance, immediately after the night event finished.

'We need to leave this place. It's no longer safe. But that might not be possible...for now.'

The thought had barely formed when that familiar piercing cry suddenly rang out above them.

A mystical bird, one that resembled a small chick, suddenly flew down from the skies.

Its eyes lingered on Alice's figure for a moment, a strange light flickering within their depths, but it soon turned its attention toward the others.

- SKREEE!

It opened its beak and released another piercing cry, this one somehow sounding different, though Alice couldn't tell what made it so.

However, a flicker of surprise soon flashed across her usually deadpan face, as one moan after another suddenly resounded through the area.

One by one, Claire, Rose, and the others were forcefully yanked from whatever nightmare they had been trapped in and forced awake.

That was what made the Elite Crawlers scary. Despite being dead, their lingering influence refused to fade.

A crimson streak suddenly flashed by, prompting Alice's nerves to draw taut. But when she noticed it was only the chick flashing to Kael's still unconscious side and snuggling against him, she relaxed somewhat, though she still kept up her guard.

"No!"

Her sister's voice suddenly drew her attention.

"No, no, no." Natalie's voice cracked as she walked past her sister to the front of the group, where a massive stallion rested on its lowered knees, its breaths coming out in ragged huffs.

"I am sorry!" Arriving by the creature's side, she hugged it tightly. The steed simply snorted in response.

Feeling what the beast conveyed through its thoughts only made Natalie break down even more.

Alice and Nathan could only watch in stunned silence as the former's sister kept crying for a beast, one they should have been doing their very best to run away from. But when they saw Rose, Sophia, and even Claire also approach the monster with sad looks on their faces, they realized things might be different than they thought. Of course, they had witnessed the creature defending them from the undead. Still, a beast was a beast.

"Sophy?"

Rose suddenly called out to her best friend, but the blonde little girl ignored her and walked to Natalie's side.

The Ruinsteed's eyes suddenly snapped to her, making the girl yelp and almost fall. Seeing this, the creature snorted once more before rubbing its head against the still sobbing Natalie.

Despite her face being pale and her legs trembling, the little blonde girl still forced her skill to activate.

A golden beam of light suddenly fell from the skies before enveloping the massive stallion.

Noticing this, the crying Natalie suddenly raised her head, hope flashing within her eyes.

But as the group continued to watch the beast remain enveloped in the light without any outward changes, their faces fell once more.

Natalie sniffed, but this time she barely forced her tears back. Her soft hands traced the coat of the beast, the rough yet strangely warm texture brushing against her fingers. She could feel the creature's beating heart slowing down, and it wouldn't be long till it died.

"Thank you..."

- Neigh!

The steed released a weak sound before raising its head, its eyes trained on its king far away. It wanted to die like its leader, with its head raised proudly.

But that was until the quiet Rose suddenly spoke.

"I have a way that might save the beast...no...the Ruinsteed."

Eyes of surprise fell on the girl, but she returned their gazes without wavering.

"Please, Rose. Save him. Please help him."

Natalie, who had already accepted the creature's fate, suddenly reacted as if she had been given another lifeline.

The others couldn't help but feel strange at the girl's display of emotion for the creature. But maybe that was why she had been given such a class in the first place.

Rose nodded to her before moving to the Ruinsteed's front. The beast, who was already preparing to return to its leader, shifted its eyes down to the human who had suddenly arrived at its side.

Why were these humans testing its patience? If it wasn't for this girl it was strangely fond of, it would have turned them into bloodstains upon the earth. But it didn't want to see the young girl sad. It was...huh?

Rose's eyes suddenly glowed with a deep pink light that seemed to pull at the creature's mind. Or at least it tried to. Despite being close to death, it was still a First Order creature and was at level 33, a far cry from Rose's level 24.

Sensing the strange tug at its mind, a ferocious killing intent suddenly erupted in the Ruinsteed's now blazing eyes. A suffocating pressure spread out from it, causing even Alice and Nathan, who were farthest away, to freeze on the spot.

Rose stumbled back as blood leaked from her eyes, nose, and ears, a result of her skill's backlash.

The Ruinsteed's muscles flexed, about to rise and annihilate the small human that tried to enslave it.

It was then that deeply comforting touch suddenly wrapped around it once again.

"Please, don't resist. She is just trying to help you," Natalie pleaded, seemingly the only one unaffected by the beast's aura.

The Ruinsteed didn't react, its eyes still glowing with a crimson light.

A few tense seconds passed before it snorted, crimson smoke pooling out of its muzzle, and a small blast of air sending Rose onto her rear.

Only then did the pressure around it disappear.

Rose and the others fell to the ground as they gasped for air, their clothes soaked with sweat.

Only Alice remained on her feet, her breaths only slightly labored.

She had almost lashed out then. Thankfully, her sister was able to handle it.

The beast turned a deaf ear to Natalie's plea, and it wasn't until the glow in its eyes dimmed to almost nothing that its gaze fell on Natalie's wet face.

The young girl flashed it a forced smile.

"Thank you. I hope you find peace."

Its gaze lingered on her before it snorted once more. Then it shifted its eyes back to Rose.

And almost as if the young human had predicted its actions beforehand, her eyes glowed with that deep pink light once again.

The Ruinsteed watched her for a moment before lowering its defenses.

At the same time, a message flashed before Rose's eyes.

[Congratulations! You have successfully planted a Mind Sigil on the First Order level 33 RUINSTEED. Would you like to crush the creature's spirit completely?]

Rose ignored the message and took a deep breath instead. Feeling the strain from controlling such a powerful creature, she quickly cut her connection to the zombies she controlled. Only then could she barely handle the pressure.

The zombies who had been guarding the group's back seemed to still for a moment before they suddenly snarled and lunged at the group, black ichor pouring out of their outstretched mouths.

Rose wanted to alert the group to the situation, but the splitting headache wouldn't allow her to.

Alas, she didn't have to worry herself.

Alice didn't even turn, as two small blue daggers, that looked more like kunais, flashed into her hands. With a small shift of her wrists, two streaks tore through the air before two dull thuds resounded.

The two hulking undead fell to the ground, deader than dead.

From beginning to end, Alice's eyes remained on her sister and Rose, a rare look of seriousness on her face, and glowing green text flashing above her head.

[LV. 24 ??? (EPIC)]

As the migraine subsided, Rose was finally able to take a deep breath.

She looked at her best friend, who had already arrived at her side with a worried look, and called out.

"Sophy."

A golden beam of light fell from the skies once more at the same time Rose sent the system her intention.

'No.'

A few seconds later, a majestic neigh pierced the skies and shook the land.

At the same time, a silent message drifted with the wind.

'My king, it might take some time before I return to your side. Forgive me!'
