While Arven remained concentrated on his skill, the others waited around him with tense expressions. They had all been expecting Robert to attack eventually, and that moment finally came.

Robert, who had been whimpering and crying in desperation only moments earlier, suddenly lunged at them with a feral snarl.

Fortunately, nobody was caught off guard. Aside from Clyde who was still slightly distracted by the presence of the Ancient One within the black mist, the others immediately reacted.

Leyan released his arrow. It shot through the air at incredible speed, heading straight toward Robert’s head.

Leyan had already learned from their previous encounter that the black mist was difficult to penetrate. If they wanted to restrain Robert without killing him, the exposed face was their best target. He was certain that an arrow into his head would kill him.

The arrow struck Robert directly in the forehead. Blood splattered across his face, but the former leader did not even slow down.

Don stepped forward and slammed his shield against Robert’s charging body. The impact stopped Robert for a moment.

Don grunted as he struggled to hold him back. His boots scraped across the stone floor as Robert continued pushing forward with terrifying strength.

Samuel moved immediately and rotated his spear and drove the blunt end of the shaft into Robert’s face, using the impact to force him backward.

"Don’t kill him!" Samuel shouted.

Maira had already moved in to attack. Her curved blade was raised, but she suddenly changed her grip and rotated the weapon in her hand. Instead of cutting Robert she struck him with the dull side of the blade.

The combined attacks forced Robert backward. But he immediately began struggling again.

He roared and lashed out wildly, forcing the others to keep moving around him. They were not trying to kill him. They were trying to restrain him long enough for Arven to find the source of the corruption.

Clyde remained farther behind. For the moment they did not seem to need his assistance. Their objective was not to kill Robert and the others were handling the situation well enough.

Instead, Clyde kept his eyes on the black mist surrounding Robert. He studied it carefully.

If this really was connected to the Ancient One, perhaps he could find something within it. Maybe the Outer God remembered him. Maybe it had left some kind of message hidden inside the darkness that only Clyde could perceive.

But there was nothing for sometime. Clyde narrowed his eyes. He continued watching nonetheless.

Behind him, Arven’s breathing became increasingly ragged. Sweat running down the mage’s face. At first, it was only a few drops. But soon it was pouring down his cheeks and neck. His hands tightened around his staff as he continued concentrating.

Several minutes passed, Arven suddenly exhaled in relief.

"I found it! It’s behind the throne!" Arven shouted.

Everyone glanced toward him for a split second. His voice echoed through the chamber, mixing with the clang of weapons and Robert’s increasingly furious screams.

Clyde was the only one standing relatively free.

"I’ll get it!" So he immediately moved toward the throne.

Robert noticed him.

The moment he saw Clyde moving toward the throne, something seemed to change in his expression. It was almost as if he understood exactly what Clyde intended to do.

Robert abruptly changed direction and lunged toward Clyde.

Clyde noticed him from the corner of his eye. Lightning immediately began crawling across the blade of his sword. He prepared to slash.

But before he could attack, Samuel shouted. "No, Jack! Don’t attack him!"

Clyde stopped himself. His eyes moved to Samuel and for a brief moment, their gazes met. Clyde saw something that looked hopeful in Samuel’s expression, as if Samuel still believed Robert could be saved.

Clyde understood that immediately. He do nothing. Instead, lightning wrapped around his legs.

His body suddenly accelerated, Clyde pushed himself forward with explosive speed, slipping past Robert’s path and racing toward the throne.

At the same time, Samuel appeared directly behind Robert. The butt of his spear slammed into Robert’s back.

The impact sent Robert flying across the chamber. His body crashed through the air before hitting the opposite wall with a heavy impact.

Clyde reached the throne and stopped in front of it and quickly examined the elaborate chair.

But he didn’t see anything in particular. The front of the throne contained no obvious magical source.

Clyde narrowed his eyes, then decided to move around it.

The moment he reached the back, he finally saw it. A small black object rested behind the throne. Dark mist continuously leaked from its surface.

Clyde stared at it for sometime, it was a ring. A small, black ring that radiated the same ancient darkness he had felt coming from Robert.

Clyde’s expression became serious. This was the source of the corruption. But the ring was also the source of the Ancient One’s power that Clyde had been sensing.

Clyde glanced over his shoulder. Samuel and the others were still fighting Robert. They continued trying to restrain him rather than kill him, which was proving far more difficult than simply ending the fight. Every attack they did had to be controlled, every opening had to be used without causing a fatal wound.

Even Arven had stopped focusing on the source behind the throne. His attention was now entirely on Robert as he tried to determine how the others could restrain him.

That meant nobody was paying attention to Clyde.

Clyde crouched behind the throne and slowly reached toward the ring. His fingers closed around it. The moment he touched the black ring, his vision disappeared.

For an instant he saw something that should not have been possible. He saw an abyss.

It was not just darkness but an endless void stretching beyond comprehension. There was no sky, ground, horizon. Nothing existed within that place except an immeasurable darkness that seemed to swallow everything.

Clyde’s eyes widened. But he did not feel fear. Instead, a strange sense of joy spread through his chest.

His fingers tightened around the ring. Because this presence... He knew it. There was no mistaking it. The Ancient One was truly here.
