Lind had wondered how the Eternal Realm got its name. The literal explanation was true unending life yet that seemed implausible.
Everything, even Divine Realm cultivators that could live for epochs, reached an end. One way or the other it seemed inevitable.
He realized why he could not conceive of it. The source of his power and all other cultivators came from integrating the external energy of Heaven and Earth into themselves. Improving the body, soul, and mind to ascend to the next major realm.
While it did allow them to live ever longer lives, Heaven and Earth were fair. To be fair, there could never be truly unending life. Resources would be consumed, hoarded, and the weak forever suppressed if Divine Realm cultivators could not die.
The Eternal Realm was about becoming self-sustaining. He would internalize the power he had cemented into his existence and use it to propel himself to a new level of existence. He would no longer be bound by Heaven and Earth!
Such a step, however, was not allowed to be as easy as sending him on his way. He would be taking from the world that birthed him. A price must be paid.
If he wanted to leave, he had to sever it himself while facing the wrath of Heaven and Earth. The knowledge flowed into him as if he had always known it.
That was not all. He now knew why his Dao title had been obscured for so long. He was not the same being. Yet, if he had claimed his Dao title of old, he would have been conformed to his previous state.
The reason being his Dao title was related to the final major realm.
He finally got the energy flowing in him under control. The title settled over him as he opened his eyes over an empty expanse of the Void Ocean.
It could no longer affect him. There was no build up of power anymore. The most horrifying focus was on him as a maelstrom swirled above. It was the full power of Heaven and Earth!
"Can't make it easy on me, can you?" His question was rhetorical as the first thing he severed was his Divine Authority. It was the easiest as he was no longer a part of the Divine Lands.
He was still a Divine Progenitor but that had to go too. That was claimed from Heaven and Earth as well. Being a Divine Bloodline was hard. He had to take it.
A Divine bloodline was blessed by Heaven and Earth to face few if any bottlenecks. They were the guardians of the beasts and were celebrated when they were refined in their descendents.
Lind now had to leave that connection behind. His Tapestry Layer was leveraged to sever that link. At the same time he took on the lightning vortex to improve his bloodline to the next level to be on its own.
It was power freely offered so he would take it if he could use it. That only seemed to make the vortex grow. The continents had to be well aware of the odd event. Only the Master Tiers knew the truth.
They were the only ones that could safely understand it. They erected defenses to the maximum. The shockwaves would cause the Void Ocean to have a literal tsunami!
Lind could only focus on his own issues. After some 20 odd bolts of lighting had ravaged him, he severed the blessing of the Divine from his bloodline. It was stronger now. It acted to heal his injuries at a pace he had never conceived of!
A progenitor was a bit easier. He had blazed a path so his job was done. It was similar to his Authority. He could no longer be the first if he was no longer a part of the world. With his newly empowered bloodline, that blessing too fell away.
His body was growing stronger yet he was far from done. He had pulled in all 18 elements and fused them into Origin Seeds. That Origin was of Heaven and Earth. He had to remake them into his own.
They had to become Eternal Seeds. It was much harder as the lightning was not enough. He had to extract the power from his own blood he had just freed up. He slowly began to refine the Seeds to be his own power.
It was switching from being the absorption of elemental power to generating it. The storm above did not like it at all! It was angry at him for trying to sever the connection he had built.
The lightning became thicker and even far more horrifying. It was like the previous power was a lie! How could Heaven and Earth be so much stronger than even the Original Bastard and suffer from him?!
Was it because he had resolved the issue in the current timeline and that was the true power when it was not ravaged by the Fiends?
Lind had no time to ponder more as he got halfway through the process when golden figures began to appear. Celestials but they were all at the peak of the Master Tier! Where had they come from?!
{{Another attempt to leave. He has left before and failed. Will he change the result now?}}
A chorus of perfect voices filled the world. Still, he was shocked by the contents. They knew?! How?!
True Qi filled the lightning and it was far beyond the power of the Divine Realm! They were pushing him far beyond his limits. He smiled at them which seemed to surprise them.
[I learned this trick long ago!] HIs Seeds stirred and his dantian flared as he swiftly absorbed the pure power as if he was a sponge in water. The Celestials dimmed until they smiled at him.
{{Good luck. We hope you win this time.}}
A feeling of sadness suddenly filled him. He did not know why but it had to be an echo from somewhere. His Time Layer was having the strongest reaction. He was set in his current iteration so it could only be the echoes beyond the Divine Lands.
The versions of him that were dead valued the Celestials that had just been consumed by him. He was able to sense them. It meant he was partially there.
Eternal Seeds hummed to life with the influx of the True Qi from beyond the Divine Lands. The cost of severing was getting insane!
The next step was his dantian itself. It was a part of Heaven and Earth without question he had to transform it. Unlike the rest of him, however, simple severing was not enough. He had to remake it!
The 9 layers of Mysteries were of Heaven and Earth. If he wanted to break free, he had to do more. He already knew the answer. His harmony was the answer.
The emerald veins throbbed with power as they began to grow. His dantian, once divided, became consumed by his harmony. He was a creature of Defiance and it was supported by 9 pillars.
He finally understood! Harmonies were the key! To become an Eternal Realm, it will replace everything from Heaven and Earth. It was the seed that would grow to support him going forward!
The emerald energy began to swirl until it consumed everything into itself. The storm inside him was supported and maintained by the newly formed pillars of his former Mysteries.
Unlike the other changes, he was far more prepared. He had refined and incorporated his Mysteries with his harmony long ago.
Still, he felt extreme pain. It was like a familiar warmth was now removed. He was no longer home. His dantian cycled through his meridians and he changed. The once all to real Divine Lands felt small to him.
It felt limited.
His body was now almost completely transformed but one connection remained. The most dangerous one, his soul.
He was not only born once but reborn twice under Heaven and Earth. He had been granted a second life by its mercy. He was of it as much as anyone. If he wanted to move on, he had to claim himself.
It was not as easy as siphoning energy or using more powerful elemental power to push beyond his limits. He knew he could die at the current step. He could cease to be.
He took a moment and looked up.
[I have to move on. I have to face him. I know you want me to but cannot let me go. I am grateful for all you have done and all I was able to find in this life. It is time for me to stand on my own.] His words should have done nothing.
Heaven and Earth were fair. It meant it could not show favoritism, yet the wrathful vortex actually slowed. The pressure shifted ever so slightly until a golden light appeared at the center.
He saw the spirit world once more and many figures looking out at him.
He saw them crying yet they did not help him. He had to take the step himself. Lind began to weave. Sigils appeared and the power to shift souls was included in that power. His dantian now changed those sigils.
They were stronger than his soul. A circle appeared once more that had been hidden before. Unlike the 8 previous, it was not something he could transform. It was the final shackle.
The 9th Circle was not to be mastered, it was to be shattered.
Lind exerted himself and pain nearly ripped him apart. Blood spurted from his body like an ocean. HIs life felt like it dimmed instantly. He felt like all his power was barely at his command.
Yet, an emerald flame sparked at the heart of his soul. It changed its color. His Soul of Defiance was born. The final tether severed and he was shot upward.
The storm struck once more but it could no longer stop him. He absorbed the energy to repair himself but it felt so weak. Divine lightning was weak?
His mind was in a fog as he healed. The world blurred and a final transmission left him.
[I love you all. I will defeat him.] He had no idea if his intended targets heard him but he sent it out. The world became darkness and he was left in turmoil as he quickly tried to orient himself.
A massive wall of light flared as a black fist slammed into it.
[At last, you are here! Come, see what I have done!] The vile voice he recognized. He slowly stabilized and saw a massive figure of darkness. The Original Bastard had come for him!
