Lind's little show of strength drained him entirely but he had made elixirs to help speed up his recovery. They were just straight up Qi and other energies his dantian converted on ingestion.
Compared to previous elixirs that accelerated absorption or supplemented recovery via cultivation, it was just pure rocket fuel for his dantian.
He was still stuck at grade 9 but he was improving.
Once half a day passed, he had them all resume demonstrations of their various abilities. Goldthorn got in on it too.
The old codger seemed to have a lot of fun with Bloodsight who finally seemed reluctant to fight!
Power was not the point, skill and flexibility were what he needed. A variety of applications in both battle and support. Tempest Child and Star were also an alchemist and refiner respectively.
He had them both demonstrate their skills.
Star was only a mid grade 9 refiner but he showed remarkable ability to inscribe and produce fantastic results. Yet, Lind saw others try to use his creations.
A simple storage treasure barely worked for anyone else but Star. Lind studied the bracelet while Tempest Child concocted her pills.
Her tools were well cared for and clearly made by someone she cared about a great deal. She carefully inspected the pot, vials, mixing rods, and other things. He also noted they were all tailored to her.
Only Forged tools could do that.
She succeeded in creating 3 types of pills. One to recover, one to soothe the mind, and one to poison. The first 2 did nothing for anyone but her. Just like the refining, it was like they were locked behind some kind of wall.
The poison pill, however, did have a method to be effective. It could be cracked open. Lind easily neutralized it but he noted it down. That gave him a thought on the storage treasure.
He made a direct connection to the space inside. It worked but it broke the bracelet after a short time.
He had Star make one more while he began to make his own. He wanted to contrast the differences.
Pills and elixirs were not a good test but he knew enough to draw some parallels.
Once he had the batches ready, he began his tests.
He also had made a simple silver storage bracelet, low grade 9 but it worked. The golden one made by Star could be its twin if not for its grade and material. The fine chain clasp and light weight would make it almost unnoticeable yet the aura of the 2 was what drew his senses.
Lind's creation was Forged simply for the purpose as he had always done. He had not put any frills on it at all even in its decoration. Star's seemed the same but his intent and Path power were faintly laced on it.
The very foundation of his creation was imprinted with his power alone. No wonder others could not use it easily! It was like trying to hack into a computer with ancient and archaic coding.
If the foundation was gone, modern hacking tools would just destroy it outright. There would be no hacking at all!
It also explained why his direct connection destroyed it. That was just taking a sledgehammer to an egg! His power was already straining it, jumping inside was like setting off a bomb with no chance to stop it.
He frowned as there were no easy solutions to the problem. It did explain why his creations were able to be used by everyone. There was not a trace of his intent or Path power in his bracelet at all!
The very instincts he had honed all his life somehow filtered the very intent and Path power he was trying to remove to test his harmony!
That was extremely helpful! He analyzed every aspect before an idea came to him. Rather than trying to force things or mimic something complex, he just wanted to let it burn as it had when it first formed.
Instead of trying to make it do anything, he just wanted it to exist. He closed his eyes as the others examined the creations themselves.
He sunk into himself and followed his meridians deep into his dantian. It was no longer as opaque as before. He could see the rich emerald power ready to be tapped into.
The feeling of the Path formed by his 9 Mysteries was much clearer but it was not what he sought. He sought the heart of everything since he had become a cultivator. The Path was forged from everything, yet there was a piece separate from the power. A piece that was just him alone.
The vast sea of rich emerald power kept calling to be used yet it was not what he sought. He recalled that tiny spark that was born when he formed his Soul Cores. It was the beginning.
It was the moment he went from a Body Refining Realm mortal to truly stepping on the path of cultivation.
The World Realm had begun to change its nature yet before that, it had just been its own existence.
A flickering of bright light appeared briefly before disappearing. He was not impatient. He knew it was still there. It was subtle and the true foundation of his cultivation from the very beginning.
His senses carefully peeled back the layers of impressive Path power until a figure was slowly revealed.
It was a human shape. Unlike his draconic features that currently defined his human body, the one before him was his original body.
It was the form he had when the harmony was born. It was not weaker than anything around him but its trigger was far more difficult.
Even now, as he finally saw it, exhaustion was closing in. He had to attempt it now or he would have to keep trying over and over. He felt like it would not be so easy. It was like the Path and Intent inside him wanted to avoid using the figure before him.
Lind's aura gently brushed against the figure that slowly opened its eyes.
{I defy.} It was just 2 words but the entire dantian shook. Lind felt like some part of him that had been muffled without his notice rose back to the surface. The Eternal Realm cultivators were wrong.
Path power was formed when they ascended. It was a source inside them but it was not the true foundation of their strength. The aether children's power was still laced Intent at the very beginning but they were born so close to their source they could discard it after that.
Path and Intent was easier because it followed the rules. Cultivators mastered their new powers and Qi to recreate or improve their old skills. That choice, however, buried the truth.
The harmony was their true power and its requirements were very harsh. As clarity flowed over Lind he understood deeply how hard the path ahead would be.
He had to master his harmony, just his harmony once more and then adapt the newly formed dantian and Intent to it!
A slow smile spread as that was much harder because it required someone completely understanding their harmony. A 6 elemental would face a much higher success rate perhaps yet he doubted it would be so stark a difference.
The figure slowly stepped forward and Lind merged his senses with it. A feeling washed over him like a weight was lifted. The flow of energy in his dantian shifted slightly. It was a new pattern and he would have to tease out the correct way to tap into it going forward.
His brain that was now a storm also changed. The once chaotic place stabilized as the emerald figure appeared there and felt right as it took its place. Lind slowly opened his eyes and saw all 7 people were staring at him.
He was confused until he realized why. In his palm was a pure emerald flame. It had no purpose other than to exist. Its aura, however, made everything pale in comparison around them.
He doubted anything anyone could currently do would snuff it out.
It felt that solid as it flickered gently in his palm. He ran his fingers through it but there was no heat. Instead, it just danced across them.
"What–What is that?" Goldthorn was no longer playful or cantankerous. He was dead serious. The 3 aether children were excited but they too wanted to know. Only 1 being was weeping openly.
"Harmonic Core–it is the Harmonic Core!" Lind narrowed his eyes at Star as the name seemed to cause his emerald flame to react joyfully. All turned to him and many reactions were felt, yet the Elemental ignored them all.
"I read the ancient records but we could never prove it! It seemed like a theory or maybe an excuse but it really exists!" Lind now was really invested.
"Ancient records?" His voice snapped Star out of his haze. He realized he had said more than intended but then bowed low.
"The world I came from had a strange place. It was like it did not really exist while it was most certainly there. Only Elementals that were on the cusp of ascendence could enter it. We were unable to study it." His words shocked them all but Lind was less surprised.
He had created an alternative to Divine Tribulation. Assuming an Eternal Realm had grasped something or pulled off a connection like he had, it was possible they made something similar for their race.
"In there, while you prepare for the final tribulation, there were many records. They helped explain how we had to create a new matrix to ascend and warned that if we did not focus on the Harmonic Core, we would forever be a Demi Tier Eternal Realm." That revelation of a name was a bombshell to all.
Lind then asked a question that made Star shiver.
"Why is this knowledge lost?" Star summoned a jade scroll. It was different from any scroll Lind had felt. It was like it was not truly of any world. Star handed it to him and Lind read the title.
