The Harmonic Core was pure soul power. It was all that made up the Eternal Realm cultivator's self. It was distilled and purified of all distractions and settled into the dantian to be nurtured by the Path Power created during ascension.
Once it stabilized, the Eternal Realm cultivator would have to parse the Path Power to open a connection to it and return it to where it came from, the mind.
Lind had figured it out and now he had a very novel feeling. He was seeing the raw power of the storm from the inside of his skull. His body felt odd. There was no feeling of gravity or weight at all, yet he saw the emerald limbs respond.
He was just him. It was like a piece of him had been obscured and now the fog was gone. Without the comparison, he had not noticed at all. He had been muffled because his self had been partially obscured!
Thinking and living were instinctual which required no testing to do. Why would a cultivator who had lived untold millions or billions of years need to relearn how to wake up a flesh and blood body? They had done it for so long so that any change to the mind would simply reroute to do such tasks.
The issue was the change went unnoticed and now the Eternal Realm cultivators were trying to force their foundation to work without their true self in the loop. The connections made to get the flesh body to work were not appropriate for their true power.
It would be like powering an appliance via an air gap. It was not impossible but the level of power would far exceed what the appliance could withstand. The power needed to bridge the less conductive path would fry it all to a crisp.
The cord, on the other hand, was the correct way and required far less effort. No wonder his professions worked so well!
He had been doing them as part of his soul as well for the most part. Thus, when he fell into those processes, he was using far more trustworthy pathways. It was still incomplete but far safer.
"So it is not the Primal Path at all. It is the Harmonic Core. This will take some getting used to." He could already feel some exhaustion creeping in. He had already pushed himself hard testing his Primal Path before.
It was like using a muscle long left to deteriorate. He could make it work but it would get worn out faster than parts he used all the time.
He quickly focused on the shapes around him and tried to comprehend what he could. As he saw the foggy work areas, he smiled as instincts went to work to complete them. Power flowed from him and a feeling of completeness filled him.
The cauldron was now floating over a flame in a stone room. It was the first concoction room he had learned in and it had never left his mind when he created elixirs. He repeated the same for Forging and Master Delenn's old furnace area was revealed.
He paused there but now he was feeling truly spent so time was of the essence. He quickly turned to the sigils and frowned. It was not like the others.
Was it because weaving had been so fragmented when he started to learn it? It was true that he had not really had teachers like the others. He had learned more on his own. So what would he recall as core to weaving?
He ran out of time before he could figure it out. He was forcibly ejected and found himself heaving covered in sweat on the cool stone floor of his cultivation chamber.
The rugs were soaked through!
He felt like a fish on the dock as his body was limp! Lind smiled, though, as his elixir mastery and Forging felt much lighter! The figure in his mind was also no longer stagnant but fully awake!
He wanted to check other things but his eyes drooped closed and he passed out.
It was unknown when he woke up but he was no longer on the floor. He was in bed and a familiar blonde head was reading a scroll to his right. He wanted to speak but he just took her in.
Qing was always beautiful but with his new perspective, it was like he felt close to something. The details of her eyes that shifted between green and blue with her cream skin seemed unchanged since the first time he met her, but she had changed a lot.
They all had.
A slow smile spread and the feeling of something fell into place. Weaving was his soul and his soul was integral to him alone. The figure in his mind changed from sigils alone to 9 concentric rings.
The rings mirrored the path he had walked and felt right. The figure in his mind smiled wider as all 3 solid areas connected and fell into it. One of the eyes changed to reptilian and understanding came over him.
He had to recreate all that he was beyond just himself and put it back where it belonged. A smile spread and Qing noticed.
"You are awak–!" Her eyes went wide and he wondered what was wrong. He went to sit up but she waved her hands and a mirror appeared in front of him. He was confused until he saw it.
His right eye was no longer a dragon's?! How?! No matter how much he mastered transformation, his eyes never changed!
The eye was still emerald green but now it was human!
He gently reached out with his hands and the mirror did not vanish or disperse. His other reptilian eye looked back in just as much shock.
Why? Why had it changed? He recalled then that the eye had changed on the human figure inside his mind. He had been able to cast illusions to recreate his human form but never actually do it.
"Is that–is that what will happen to me? Will I turn back?" He did not want that! He was still a dragon! He knew his Dao title! So what was going on?!
"Foolish mate, you are still a dragon completely." Ethry's voice suddenly pierced his worries as the mirror was dismissed. Qing and the others were now in the room. Ethry moved up and he noticed her own reptilian eyes changed to human before his very eyes.
Most dragons could do it but it annoyed them. Lind had actually never been looked down upon because of his inability to change yet Ethry did it with ease. They were still prismatic but unlike him, they felt off.
She clearly was forcing it as they wanted to revert. She noticed but pointed at him.
"I am your mate so if you finally show human eyes, will do the same, but we will never stop being dragons!" He then smirked as the others broke into smiles. Ethry was never simple but she was unbending. Anyone that disagreed with her knew better than to defy her.
"I have a lot to tell you all." He assumed his restrictions had come down since he had collapsed. It was a safety measure they had insisted on as no one could get to him otherwise.
He then explained what had just happened and why. Once more, he faced no issues discussing his personal journey with them. Still, they gave helpful suggestions until Shoti, of all people, seemed to bring up a possibility.
"Could it be you have never been truly in balance and now you are going to complete yourself by recreating your dragon soul?" Lind looked up at her violet eyes as she had her head tilted at 45 degrees leaning against a wall.
The dead silence of the room made her look around confused.
"Why are you all staring at me?!" A cough came from Kora which put her on the spot but she scratched her cheek as her dark gold eyes seemed amused.
"I mean, Big Sister Shoti is not known for her deep thinking on the soul." A beat passed before Shoti went beat red. Her whips were suddenly in her hands as she looked truly angry.
"DO YOU ALL THINK I AM A MUSCLE HEAD OR SOMETHING?!" A long silence stretched for just a bit too long. The crack of whips were followed by barriers lighting up and a small battle broke out.
Lind began to laugh, truly laughing more than he had in a very long time.
The sound made them all pause and even Shoti looked surprised before she shrugged it off. She then stepped forward and pulled him into an embrace.
"You are you. Don't worry about what you will become." He nodded and felt at peace. He suspected she was right. It answered the question in his heart.
Why was his Harmonic Core human? Now that he knew it was his pure sense of self, he needed to accept everything to master his power. It meant truly merging the human and dragon Lind into one.
He was about to talk more when the figure in his mind seemed to frown. He did not understand why until a chill went down his spine.
He looked up and knew trouble had come calling.
He then smirked. Time for a test drive.
His fingers glowed and all were shocked as powerful sigils appeared as if they were nothing to Lind now. He felt no resistance nor difficulty as the figure in his mind mirrored his moves.
His dantian stirred but unlike before, power came to him without any delay or concentration needed. It thundered in his meridians at 3 times as powerful as before!
A series of ephemeral weapons suddenly appeared made of sigils and flew into the sky.
"Where are those going, husband?" Lysanna spoke up but Lind only smirked as he looked up.
No words were needed as a familiar voice screamed into the hold.
[DAMN YOU LIND FREY!] Lind could see with his aura that the Bastard had been torn out of some concealment Art and now was pierced by the woven weapons. The Fiend was actually injured! Yet, he was not defeated.
The Fiend was fighting the quickly spreading harmonic Qi and did not dare to stay close.
[I WILL BE BACK! I WILL KILL YOU AND MAKE YOU WATCH ALL THOSE WHORES DIE!] Lind frowned but that was the limit of what he could do. He was exhausted but more confident.
He could injure him, now he just had to get strong enough to kill him!
