Chapter 344 - 316: Snake Out of the Hole

Chapter 344: Chapter 316: Snake Out of the Hole

"You think you can run?"

Chu Mu scoffed. With a flick of his fingers, streams of Saber Qi manifested as suspended, burning blades. In an instant, they transformed into a torrential rain of flaming blades, descending upon the fleeing man in the black robe.

The man’s expression changed drastically. With a low shout, his black robe flared to life. Dense black mist billowed out, forming a dark, suspended cloud.

"Go!"

The man urged it on, and the cloud of Ghost Qi roiled menacingly, attempting to swallow the descending rain of flaming blades.

But as the flaming blades fell, the billowing black cloud seemed to have met its bane. Each fiery blade was like a red-hot branding iron, and the cloud was like ice and snow... it melted away!

"Impossible!"

The man was in disbelief. ’This Defense Skill is a Supreme Treasure I’ve spent years refining! Even if Fire Attribute techniques counter it, it should never be this fragile against a mere Magic Technique!’

Chu Mu chuckled softly. The sight didn’t surprise him.

’After all, the Finger Snap Divine Techniques are built around a core of Sword Intent; their Mighty Power is extraordinary.’

’After obtaining the Finger Snap Divine Techniques, I practiced them repeatedly, eventually integrating my Great Sun True Flame to create my own unique version.’

’Sword Intent and Great Sun True Flame... each one is a sure-kill ability on its own!’

’When fused, even one of my casual strikes is a fatal threat to most Cultivators.’

’Except... this Demon Cultivator... seems... a little weak?’

Chu Mu raised his hand, and several more blades wreathed in flame shot forth.

Seeing this, the man’s ashen face filled with terror. He couldn’t even block one assault, let alone a second!

"Save me! Venerable, save me!"

The man cried out.

Chu Mu’s expression flickered, and the move he was making to capture the man came to an abrupt halt.

"Useless!"

A sharp rebuke rang out, and several men in black robes appeared with shocking suddenness.

Chu Mu’s pupils contracted. ’This is bad,’ he thought. ’I’m afraid I was too impulsive this time!’

"Hand over the True Demon Qi, and I will spare your life!"

The men closed in, and their leader spoke.

Chu Mu frowned, his expression growing grim as he glanced at the Compass in his hand.

’I can use True Demon Qi to track the Demon Seed... so of course the Demon Cultivators who rely on it for their very existence would have a way to track it as well...’

’My recent success at Jingmen must have made me complacent!’

"So, you lured me out of the city for the True Demon Qi?"

Chu Mu asked.

The leader in the black robe smiled, but his eyes were icy cold.

Chu Mu glanced at the Compass in his hand one more time before flipping his wrist and stowing it in his Storage Ring. Understanding dawned on him.

’For them to use a ploy like this to lure me out of the city, they must have known about the tracking Compass.’

’And very few people know about this tracking Compass.’

He said no more. Words were useless now; they wouldn’t change his current predicament.

’Now that these skulking cowards have finally shown themselves, the solution to this problem is simple.’

He raised his hand and flicked a finger. With the slightest twitch, several blades wreathed in flame shot forth in a blur.

"How audacious!"

The man laughed in fury, but faced with the surging, fiery blades, they all scrambled to dodge.

"Go!"

With a flick of his wrist, dozens of blades appeared, hovering before him like a flaming Golden Wheel.

With a low shout, the torrential rain of fire manifested once more.

He then made a grasping motion with his hand, summoning the Minghong Saber. With a fluid flourish, he unleashed a wave of Saber Qi that bloomed like moonlight. It merged with the rain of fire, and together they swept forward with a thunderous roar.

Faced with such an onslaught, the four Demon Cultivators each unleashed their own Divine Techniques.

One conjured a roiling black mist thick with Mysterious Demonic Qi, another waved a black banner with a crazed look on his face, and a third unleashed Demonic Qi that surged like a tidal wave.

But under Chu Mu’s thunderous assault, two of the Demon Cultivators couldn’t hold back the attack. They were swept up by the brilliant blades and sent flying backward, spitting blood.

In that moment, Chu Mu closed the distance. His saber flowed forward, imbued with the dual sharpness of his Divine Sense and Magical Power, aimed straight at the leader in the black robe.

A Demon Cultivator at the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment was someone he had to take seriously.

The leader’s face was grim. Facing the terrifyingly sharp edge of the sweeping blade, he didn’t dare let his guard down for a second.

"Rise!"

With a low shout, the man spat out a gleaming black Round Pearl wreathed in Mysterious Demonic Qi. In the blink of an eye, the Demonic Qi swirling around the pearl expanded, forming a circular disk of mist.

As a mystical aura swirled about it, the descending blade, though seemingly striking only illusory mist, produced the sharp clang of metal on metal.

The attack, sourced from Magical Power and Power, was blocked, but the sharpness originating from Divine Sense made the man grunt, his face instantly turning ashen.

"Sword Intent... You’re a Sword Cultivator, too!"

The man cried out in horror.

’I thought an Artifact Refining Master who was also a Puppet Master would be difficult enough to deal with!’ he thought in horror.

’But this Artifact Refining Master is also a Sword Cultivator with Unrivaled Attack!’

"Hmph!"

Chu Mu snorted, ignoring the man’s horror as his saber fell once more.

One slash followed another. With his current physique and Magical Power, he could unleash a downpour of strikes in an instant.

The clang of metal echoed continuously. In just a few short breaths, the disk of black mist formed by the Round Pearl shattered with a loud CRACK under the ceaseless barrage of slashes!

Cracks appeared on the Round Pearl, and the man coughed up blood, staggering backward before falling.

Both horrified and terrified, the man faced the advancing Chu Mu and did the unthinkable. He grabbed the cultivator who had served as bait, lying fallen beside him, and threw him directly into the path of Chu Mu’s descending blade.

"Venerable!"

The man cried out in despair. The next instant, the blade fell, and his thrown body exploded under the surging Power.

A cloud of blood mist spread, and shattered flesh rained down.

"Attack him together! This person is a handful!"

The so-called Venerable wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and barked at the two other cowering Foundation Establishment cultivators.

The two Foundation Establishment cultivators seemed terrified of this Venerable. Though they had been cowering and afraid to advance, his single command sent them scrambling to get in front of Chu Mu.

Just as Chu Mu prepared to fight one against three, the so-called Venerable, who had been posturing to charge in with the others, instead leaped into the air and fled the moment his two underlings blocked Chu Mu!

Chu Mu paused, looking with some confusion at the two abandoned Foundation Establishment cultivators. They were obviously terrified, yet they still stood in his way...

A thought flashed through his mind, and Chu Mu instantly understood!

"Get lost!"

He leaped into the air, a wide arc of Saber Qi forcing the two Foundation Establishment cultivators back. He paid the two strange cultivators no mind and shot straight after the fleeing so-called Venerable.

With a flicker of his will, a pair of wings still attached to the Moonlight Armor in his Storage Ring floated out and settled onto his back.

With a gentle flap of his wings, he instantly closed a great deal of the distance to the fleeing so-called Venerable.

The man’s face was pale, his terror palpable.

But seeing Chu Mu closing in again, the man, seemingly cornered, let out a low cry. He spat out a mouthful of crimson blood, and a scarlet light flashed. The light streaked across the sky, and in the blink of an eye, he vanished before Chu Mu’s very eyes.

"Blood Escape!"

Chu Mu’s expression grew solemn. He had heard of the Blood Escape Technique before. It used one’s vital blood as a catalyst to perform an Escape Skill.

The importance of one’s vital blood, of course, was self-evident.

’Using an Escape Technique like that, with his Cultivation at the Middle Stage of Foundation Establishment, he must have traveled dozens of miles at the very least, far beyond the range of my Divine Sense.’

He turned to look behind him. The two Foundation Establishment cultivators had already scattered and fled.

Just then, a streak of sword light shot across the sky, flying toward him.

Apparently sensing the situation, the sword light drew near and came to an abrupt halt.

"One of the Demon Cultivators escaped using the Blood Escape Technique! He’s probably the mastermind behind this," Chu Mu said urgently.

"Which direction?"

Xu Changqing asked at once.

"That way. He’s somewhere within a hundred-mile radius."

Chu Mu pointed in the direction where the so-called Venerable had disappeared.

"Right!"

Xu Changqing leaped into the air. With the sharp ring of a sword, he became a streak of light that shot across the sky, vanishing from sight in the blink of an eye.

Chu Mu glanced at the two fleeing... cannon fodder. With a light flap of his giant wings, he set off in pursuit of one of them.

As for that so-called Venerable, the clear mastermind...

’The ambush is still fresh in my mind. I’m not about to make the same mistake twice.’

’Besides, if there’s any real danger, it probably can’t harm Xu Changqing anyway.’

’Sword Dao Nascent Soul Heir, Longevity True Inheritor...’

’It’s probably not easy for a guy like that to die, even if he wanted to...’
