Eternal Life Begins with Learning

Chapter 399 - 369: The Beginning of Fame

Upon entering the Hundred Treasures Pavilion, the scene within unfolded before his eyes, and several gazes immediately converged upon him.

There was an old man, a young woman, a middle-aged man, and five youths—all of them were at the Bloodline Foundation Establishment Realm.

The one with the highest Cultivation was the middle-aged man in a silver-white long robe, who had reached the Late Stage of Foundation Establishment.

"GRRRR..."

Suddenly faced with so many unfamiliar Foundation Establishment Cultivators and their swirling, distinct Demon Beast Bloodline auras, Wangcai grew agitated. A low growl was faintly audible from beneath its Dark Battle Armor.

Its demonic eyes, now tinged with crimson, swept over the Foundation Establishment Cultivators, sizing them up as if they were meals in human form. It looked ready to devour a few of them at a single command.

Under the immense pressure of its Tier Two Late Stage aura, the faces of a few of the weaker men turned visibly pale.

After glancing around the room, Chu Mu gently stroked Wangcai's head. The beast's surging, violent aura instantly vanished without a trace.

He had just taken his seat when the young woman hurried over. As she lifted the wine pot to pour, she leaned in extremely close—whether intentionally or not—so close he could feel the softness of her body beneath her thin gauze dress.

To any observer, the posture looked quite intimate.

"You look unfamiliar. Are you from the Great Chu Cultivation Immortal World?"

The middle-aged cultivator slowly set down his cup and suddenly asked the question.

At his words, the gazes that had shifted away immediately snapped back to Chu Mu.

"I've been in the Vast Sea for some years now. Before this, I was Demon Hunting in the Outer Sea and only just returned to Chixia."

Chu Mu raised his cup, took a light sip, and then answered slowly.

"I see."

The middle-aged man nodded, his gaze shifting to settle on the Armor worn by Wangcai. "Are you an Artifact Refiner?" he asked.

"Hall Master Chen truly has a discerning eye." Hong'Er smiled sweetly, her voice soft as she smoothly took the wine cup from Chu Mu's hand. "This Brother Chu of mine is no ordinary Artifact Refiner. Back in the Great Chu Cultivation Immortal World, he's a renowned Artifact Refining Master..."

At these words, the expressions of all the Foundation Establishment Cultivators in the room shifted. The middle-aged man glanced, seemingly inadvertently, at Wangcai lying by Chu Mu's side, his own expression growing noticeably more serious.

"I wouldn't call myself an Artifact Refining Master. It's a humble skill, hardly worth mentioning."

Chu Mu glanced at the young woman, shaking his head with a light laugh.

"Here you go, Brother Chu."

The young woman refilled the cup with Spirit Wine and handed it to him.

Chu Mu reached out to take the cup. As his arm rose, the soft pressure against it became even more distinct. The young woman's cheeks flushed red, but Chu Mu seemed to take no notice, accepting the cup and setting it on the table.

"You must be Chu Mu."

At that moment, the old man in the coarse cloth robe seated nearby suddenly spoke.

His words instantly drew the attention of every Foundation Establishment Cultivator present.

Chu Mu raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise on his face.

"I was once in the employ of the Longevity Sect. I've heard of your name for quite some time..."

"Back in Jingmen..."

The old man slowly began to explain.

Chu Mu wasn't surprised. During his time at Jingmen, he had used his Artifact Refining Skill to amass wealth, and his fame had spread far and wide.

If this man had truly been on the battlefield at Jingmen, it was perfectly normal that he would know of him.

However, as the old man finished his account, the gazes fixed on Chu Mu now held a new layer of reverence.

After another round of pleasantries, the Foundation Establishment Cultivators present were at least loosely acquainted with one another.

The middle-aged man, for example, with his Late Stage Foundation Establishment Cultivation, was the Outer Hall Master of the Chixia City Law Enforcement Hall.

The old man was a Honored Guest Elder of the Chen Family, and he served in the Chixia City Sacrificial Hall.

The young men, all at the Foundation Establishment Realm, were generally Stewards for various influential groups within the city. Their short conversations led to little more than recognizing faces; the specific details about them remained unknown.

Thanks to the young woman's artful and self-serving promotion, Chu Mu's integration into the group was going much more smoothly than he had anticipated.

As the conversations and pleasantries continued, several more Foundation Establishment Cultivators entered the pavilion and took their seats. The exchange meet did not begin until noon.

Since arriving in Chixia, Chu Mu had attended several of these exchange meets.

The exchanges were usually gatherings of acquaintances and friends. This event was much the same, the only difference being that it was organized and spearheaded by the Hundred Treasures Pavilion.

The exchange meet went on. One after another, Foundation Establishment Cultivators presented their items for trade, but most were quite ordinary, and nothing managed to catch Chu Mu's eye.

The young woman remained seated by Chu Mu's side, still leaning against him in a way that was almost intimate.

Chu Mu continued to act as if he didn't notice. 'I know exactly what this woman is thinking,' he reflected. 'She's just trying to use my status for her own benefit.'

After all, a Late Stage Foundation Establishment Cultivation and the title of Artifact Refining Master were enough to command respect anywhere in the Cultivation Immortal Realm.

And he, in turn, needed to use this opening to pursue his own interests. It was simply a matter of mutual benefit.

"Brother Chu, has anything caught your interest?"

The young woman looked at Chu Mu and asked softly.

"Demon Pills."

Chu Mu's reply was curt.

"Brother Chu, you need Demon Pills... in large quantities?"

The young woman blinked, somewhat confused.

With a flick of his wrist, Chu Mu produced a flawless, snow-white Elixir and handed it to the young woman.

The young woman froze, taking the Elixir subconsciously. She seemed to realize something, and the look she gave Chu Mu was now filled with a distinct eagerness.

The young woman asked, a touch of nervousness in her voice, "Brother Chu... are you also an Alchemy Master?"

"You didn't know?"

Chu Mu looked at the young woman with a teasing glint in his eye.

The young woman's cheeks flushed red, and she was suddenly at a loss for words.

Chu Mu chuckled softly, his gaze shifting back toward the center of the hall. The middle-aged man was now taking the stage.

With a wave of his hand and a flash of light, a sudden, heavy THUD echoed as a massive form appeared, instantly occupying more than half of the raised platform.
