Chapter 455: Chapter 419: Choice
"ROAR!"
Outside the valley, a Demon Beast roared. A ten-foot-tall, emerald-green leopard darted through the mountain forest, closing the distance in just a few breaths.
The leopard leaped, its claws glinting with a cold light as they sank into its prey’s neck. With fangs bared, it bit down with its massive jaws. Amidst a spray of blood and a piercing shriek, the hunted Demon Beast met its end.
The leopard tore at the carcass, devouring it in great mouthfuls as blood splattered everywhere.
Suddenly, as if sensing something, the leopard whipped its head around to look toward the valley, a hint of confusion in its savage eyes.
With its level of Spiritual Wisdom, it couldn’t quite comprehend why the aura within the valley had changed several times in just a few short months.
And now, it had changed yet again.
In its experience, such a situation was quite simple.
It simply meant that the previous occupant had been hunted by an even stronger being, and this large territory had a new master.
The leopard glanced fearfully at the valley. Instinctive terror urged it to flee the area.
Not daring to linger, it quickly devoured the rest of the Demon Body, snatched up the remains, and leaped into the forest, disappearing from sight.
In the valley, under the effects of the Heavenly Deceit Pill, the Demon Beast aura shifted once more. Chu Mu sat cross-legged beneath the waterfall. A Spiritual Light hovered before him, and a faint crimson glow flickered around two Spiritual Objects.
These Spiritual Objects were precious and rarely seen in the world.
Chu Mu gazed at the two rare Spiritual Materials floating before him—the Fiery Sun Fire Essence and the Fusang Wood. A profound conflict was visible in his somber eyes.
Both the Fiery Sun Fire Essence and the Fusang Wood originated from the mysterious Great Sun. Tempered day and night by the Great Sun True Flame over countless ages, these two Spiritual Objects had long since transformed into true embodiments of Supreme Yang and Firmness.
In comparison, although his own Great Sun True Flame had undergone multiple transformations and he had even performed Refinement on the Earth Spirit Flame, causing its Mighty Power to take a near-qualitative leap, its purity, Grade, and power were clearly no match for these two Spiritual Objects.
His own Supreme Yang and Firmness already possessed a near-natural suppressing effect on Demonic Qi.
So, the suppressive effect of this Supreme Yang and Firmness, originating from the Great Sun itself, against demonic forces was self-evident.
If he wanted to find another way to fight the Demonization Erosion, he would undoubtedly have to rely on these two Spiritual Objects.
Through various experiments, he had painstakingly managed to extract a single wisp of Great Sun Fire Qi from them.
Just that single wisp, when drawn into his body to combat the Demonization Erosion, displayed a suppressive effect so potent that it almost completely exceeded his expectations.
That one wisp of Great Sun Fire Qi had halted the relentless advance of the Demonization Erosion. Although it was ultimately defeated, worn down and extinguished by the erosion, this defeat was a matter of quantity, not quality!
In other words, if he could draw out a sufficient amount of Great Sun Fire Qi, he could surely suppress, reverse, and even... eliminate the Demonization Erosion in his body!
But... whether it was the Fiery Sun Fire Essence or the Fusang Wood, their preciousness went without saying.
He already had long-standing plans for each of them.
One could begin Refining a Lifebound Treasure at the Golden Core Realm, and both of these rare Spiritual Objects were intended to be the main Spiritual Materials for his own.
If he used either one, finding a replacement would be harder than ascending to the heavens.
If that were the only issue, the Lifebound Treasure would be insignificant compared to the current crisis of Demonization.
The problem was, of the two Spiritual Objects before him, the Fiery Sun Fire Essence was only the size of a fist, and the Fusang Wood was just a short piece.
Extracting the Great Sun Fire Qi would greatly damage the Spiritual nature of the materials, and beyond that, the amount of Great Sun Fire Qi contained within them, when compared to the extent of the Demonization in his body...
Based on his calculations and experiments, if he tried to eliminate the Demonization Erosion by extracting the Great Sun Fire Qi, even draining all of it from the Fusang Wood and the Fiery Sun Fire Essence would, at best, only suppress it to a certain degree. It would not be a complete success.
As such, there was little point in doing so.
As long as the Demonization remained, it would inevitably make a comeback sooner or later.
And when that time came, he wouldn’t have a second Fiery Sun Fire Essence, let alone another piece of Fusang Wood!
Chu Mu’s brow furrowed as he silently weighed the pros and cons.
Amidst his contemplation, the Spiritual Radiance Blessing descended silently. Chu Mu stared intently at the two rare Spiritual Objects, trying his best to break free from the limits of his conventional thinking. Countless ideas concerning the two items began to surface.
After some time, a flash of inspiration seemed to strike him from the void. Chu Mu froze for a moment, then suddenly raised his hand and grasped the Jade Scroll inscribed with the Great Sun Scripture Cultivation Technique.
His Divine Sense entered it, and the Refining technique for a Lifebound Treasure recorded in the Great Sun Scripture once again appeared in his Divine Sense Perception.
The Great Sun Golden Wheel!
This Lifebound Treasure was vastly different from his own path of Cultivation; it was completely unsuitable to be his Lifebound Treasure.
For this reason, he had created the unique Human Sword Unity Technique to simulate the effects of a Lifebound Artifact.
It was also because of this that he hadn’t adamantly refused to participate in this trip to the Secret Realm, a trip that had nearly cost him his life.
After all, if he could be fortunate enough to enter the Inheritance Hall and that Illusory World within the Secret Realm just one more time, it would be a heaven-sent opportunity for him!
’Extracting the Great Sun Fire Qi won’t solve the Demonization...’
’But what if I refined it into a Lifebound Treasure...’
Chu Mu’s eyes grew brighter.
Using the Supreme Yang and Firmness characteristics of the Fiery Sun Fire Gold and the Fusang Wood to refine a Lifebound Treasure... with the growth potential of a Lifebound Treasure, nourished by his evolving Great Sun True Flame, the Great Sun Fire Qi within it would no longer be a spring without a source!
A continuous supply of Great Sun Fire Qi could then endlessly wear away the Demonization Erosion!
Under those circumstances, the tables would be turned. The Demonization Erosion would become the true spring without a source!
But then, Chu Mu’s excited expression suddenly stiffened.
Such a treasure would have to be conceived and designed specifically to counter the Demonization Erosion.
Without a doubt, a Lifebound Treasure like that would be completely different from—and even run counter to—the one he had originally envisioned!
’Refine two Lifebound Treasures?’
The wild idea occurred to Chu Mu.
But as he followed this train of thought, it seemed it wasn’t entirely baseless.
The foundation of his Immortal Dao Cultivation was different from that of an ordinary Cultivator.
For an ordinary Cultivator, their entire Cultivation depends on the Cultivation Technique they practice.
The type of Cultivation Technique determines the type of Cultivation.
He, however, also possessed Sword Intent.
Sword Cultivators like Xu Changqing, on the other hand, specialized in corresponding Sword Cultivation Techniques.
The Void Nether Saber Scripture he cultivated was a specialized Sword Cultivator technique. It used Sword Intent to temper one’s Essence, Qi, and Spirit, and it had a complete Cultivation System for Qi Cultivation, Foundation Establishment, and Golden Core.
But he possessed both.
The Great Sun Scripture’s Dharma and Body Cultivation system, with the Great Sun True Flame at its core.
And the Void Nether Saber Scripture’s Cultivation System, with Sword Intent at its core.
It was just that he had always been dedicated to merging the two into a single system.
His creation of the Human Sword Unity Technique was an effort toward this goal. In his cultivation of Sword Intent, he had never fully practiced the Void Nether Saber Scripture, only using its method of tempering Essence, Qi, and Spirit with Sword Intent.
This created a complementary relationship with the Great Sun Scripture and forged a rather unique balance.
The Great Sun Scripture cultivated Magical Power and the physical body, while Sword Intent served a supplementary role, primarily cultivating the Divine Soul and secondarily tempering Magical Power and the body.
According to his plan, after Core Formation, when he condensed his Lifebound Treasure, it would naturally be like his unique Human Sword Unity Technique—using the Great Sun True Flame as a vessel and Sword Intent as the core, merging the two into one.
This would further deepen the complementary fusion of the two, with the hope of one day merging both systems completely into one.
Though it was only a concept, he had never stopped trying to achieve it.
With the existence of the "Spiritual Radiance Blessing," he had enough confidence to support this ambition.
But now, if he were to make Forbidden Demon the core...
Chu Mu was conflicted once again.
’Forget it. This was never something that could be achieved overnight. Why rush?’
’Once I overcome this tribulation, the Immortal Path is long. There will be other opportunities.’
A moment later, with a soft sigh, Chu Mu made his decision.
He rose from the large rock and surveyed the quiet valley. After a long period of contemplation, he leaped up. With Magical Power circulating and the Heavenly Deceit Pill providing cover, he had little to fear. The Cultivation and Magical Power equivalent to the Foundation Establishment Realm surged forth, and a fiery red sword-light flashed across the sky, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
For the next several months, Chu Mu traveled throughout the Secret Realm. Under the cover of the Heavenly Deceit Pill and with his Tier Two Cultivation, he left his footprints in all the places he hadn’t dared to go or hadn’t discovered during his first visit to the Secret Realm.
Although his gains were not insignificant, it was clear that the years-long plundering of this Secret Realm by the Longevity Sect and several great Clans had been far more thorough than he had anticipated.
Chu Mu even found several rare Ore Veins that had been completely excavated.
Judging by the timeline, it hadn’t happened long ago; they were clearly traces left behind from that time.
He also cautiously approached the sea of magma and fire. After several months, the scene of the fiery sea’s eruption had vanished.
Amidst the dead silence, not a trace of Demonic Qi could be found.
That sea of magma and fire seemed to be shrouded and isolated by some unknown power, making it impossible to see inside.
The victory or defeat within the Demon Realm was still uncertain.
But clearly, this Secret Realm Heaven and Earth had become wary of that Demon Realm; otherwise, such a scene would not have appeared.
From this scene, one could perhaps glimpse the outcome of the battle in the Demon Realm.
If the man in the Dragon Robe had won...
...he wouldn’t be guarding so strictly against the Demon Realm.
That True Demon had probably become... the Master of the Demon Realm...
