Eternal Life: I Can Sell Everything
Chapter 204 - 201: The Young Master Really Won’t Eat?Outside the courtyard gate, the tabby cat was happily eating the cakes.
The students were scattered around the house. Some were in the study, some in the west sitting room, and some in the kitchen.
The same sense of dread filled them all. Someone asked in a low voice, "Senior Brother Xie, should we go out and take a look?"
This was Dong Siliang, a Martial Artist in the study with Xie Yunchong. He was the one who’d had an ear bitten off by the tabby cat.
There were eleven students in this group. Logically, they should all be in the same boat, working together to break through the Deceitful Realm and find a way to survive—
Of course, there were no obvious conflicts among the students at present. But human hearts are simply too complex. The absence of conflict didn’t mean they could all work together as one.
People are just too complicated. Even a single person’s mind can change in an instant, let alone a group of them, especially when facing such a bizarre and unpredictable situation.
Thus, allegiances silently began to form, and smaller cliques unconsciously emerged within the small team of eleven.
Although Song Ciwan’s performance had been outstanding before, she had only reported her Cultivation as Early-Stage Qi Refining at the village entrance. This had invisibly caused her prestige to plummet.
Jiao Zuo’s Cultivation was high, and he originally had a strong reputation. But the sight of him being chased by the villagers as if he were a donkey was simply too pathetic. This also cost him his prestige, and some even began to subconsciously look down on him.
Only Xie Yunchong possessed both a high level of Cultivation and a respectable background. Before Song Ciwan’s appearance, he had been the leader of this small team, and so, more people were now inclined to follow him.
Interestingly, Jiao Zuo trusted Song Ciwan deeply and was always seen with her. When everyone spread out to inspect the rooms, Xie Yunxiang also naturally tagged along behind them.
From the study, Xie Yunchong was heard saying, "Junior Brother Dong, go take a look."
The house, built with blue bricks and a wooden frame, didn’t have good soundproofing. Even though they weren’t in the same room, as long as no one deliberately lowered their voice, they could all hear each other.
Dong Siliang acknowledged the command and walked to the study door, peeking outside cautiously.
As he looked, his gaze met that of the white-haired woman outside the courtyard gate.
Dong Siliang was startled. The white-haired woman was already waving her hand and smiling broadly. "Oh, my dear young master, have you come to see me? Come, take a look at what I’ve brought for you!"
Forced to meet the woman’s gaze, Dong Siliang’s mouth hung open, his face flushing beet red.
He was speechless. Xie Yunchong walked out of the study, stepped under the eaves, and cupped his fists in a salute to the distant white-haired woman. "Thank you for your kind intentions, miss. Our teacher taught us that a gentleman does not accept rewards for no merit. We cannot accept these cakes. Please forgive us."
He immediately started talking about teachers and gentlemen, having in fact grasped the essence of how Song Ciwan had spoken earlier.
Xie Yunchong had discovered that whether it was Song Ciwan handling Mr. Gao or Mr. Gao driving away the villagers, they both used the words of sages.
From this, it was clear that in this Inverted Deceit Realm, the words of the sages were both a weapon and a passkey.
So, Xie Yunchong had been silently studying and mentally rehearsing. Finally, at this moment, he put his long-practiced countermeasure into action!
As expected, the white-haired woman outside the gate was left speechless. After a short while, she said resentfully, "What’s all this about gentlemen? You young masters may be gentlemen, but you’re not nearly as straightforward as a dog!"
Her comparison of the gentlemen to cats and dogs instantly made Dong Siliang’s face flush red and pale by turns.
Displeasure also flickered across Xie Yunchong’s face. He didn’t reply, simply standing under the eaves, his silence a show of resolve.
The white-haired woman didn’t give up and asked again, "Young master, are you sure you won’t eat the cakes I brought?"
’Who would dare to eat things from a Deceitful Realm?’
Xie Yunchong said coolly, "We students dare not defy the will of the sages."
The white-haired woman said, "If you really won’t eat, then don’t you regret it later!"
Xie Yunchong said, "Thank you for your kind intentions, miss. We know what we’re doing."
Unable to persuade him, the white-haired woman snorted. She then took out more cakes from her basket and piled them all in front of the tabby cat.
The tabby cat purred contentedly, holding the cakes on the ground with its paws and eating even more happily.
The white-haired woman then rolled her eyes at Xie Yunchong and Dong Siliang, snorted again, and said, "Fine, don’t eat. Just make sure you don’t regret it."
She repeatedly mentioned not regretting it, her words laced with hidden meaning.
Dong Siliang nervously touched the wound on his left ear, almost calling out to the white-haired woman to ask her for a cake.
After saying this, however, the white-haired woman finally stopped lingering. She tucked her basket under her arm, turned, and walked away, her ample hips swaying.
Her figure quickly disappeared, and the indecisive Dong Siliang was instantly filled with regret.
Dong Siliang couldn’t help but ask Xie Yunchong, "Senior Brother Xie, we... those cakes... should we really not take one to test it out, to have a look?"
Xie Yunchong sighed and said only one thing: "Even if we took them, would you dare to eat one?"
Dong Siliang immediately fell silent.
Xie Yunchong turned, but instead of going back to the study, he entered the west room. He asked Song Ciwan and Jiao Zuo, who were still inside, "Brother Xin, Brother Jiao, just now, Xie directly refused that woman’s cakes. What do you two think? Xie shouldn’t have been wrong, right?"
Who could say he had done wrong?
Song Ciwan smiled. "Brother Xie’s response was brilliant. We can only admire it."
Jiao Zuo said nothing, but he didn’t voice any opposition either.
From that point on, Xie Yunchong seemed to have reclaimed some of his dominant position among the students.
For a time, all was quiet. Yu Miaomiao finished making the porridge in the kitchen, and everyone had finished inspecting the rooms, inside and out.
Mr. Gao had not yet woken up. At some point, the tabby cat outside the courtyard gate, having eaten and drunk its fill, had also fallen asleep.
In the sky, the sun was setting in the west. A magnificent evening glow painted the entire small village in a warm and peaceful light. The students emerged from the various rooms of the Gao Family house and looked up at the beautiful scenery, all of them speechless for a moment.
Finally, it was the sound of Zhang You’s stomach rumbling that broke the silence.
Among the two Female Martial Artists, the junior sister at the Innate First Transformation stage let out a chuckle.
Her name was Tang Xiaoqin, and her senior sister was named Zhuang Min.
Tang Xiaoqin was a bit embarrassed after her laugh. She sidled up to Zhuang Min and said softly, "Sorry, Senior Brother Zhang. I... I’m actually hungry too."
In fact, everyone was hungry!
With their Power sealed, everyone seemed to have reverted to their former mortal bodies. After a full day without food or drink, who wouldn’t be hungry?
But no matter how hungry they were, no one dared to eat anything from the Deceitful Realm!
Everyone’s gazes involuntarily turned towards the kitchen to the west. Inside, the porridge Yu Miaomiao had cooked was still steaming invitingly.
Zhang You couldn’t help but swallow. He was followed by Dong Siliang, then Tang Xiaoqin, and then... everyone!
A burning, searing hunger assaulted everyone’s stomachs at that moment.
