Song Ciwan released the two flames from her Sea of Consciousness.
The Heart Sutra Fire and the Bright God Fire were both components of the Samadhi True Fire. Though one of the three parts was missing, rendering the Samadhi True Fire incomplete, their combined power was not to be underestimated.
Unlike ordinary flames, this fire had a unique suppressive effect on Demon Fiends.
Previously, Song Ciwan had unleashed her Blazing Flame Technique. The flames generated by the Mastery Level technique were incredibly hot, yet they had no effect on the encroaching, overwhelming blood mist. In fact, it was like adding fuel to a fire; the mist’s ferocity instantly intensified.
From within the blood mist, the Second Young Master’s disembodied voice echoed from all directions, growing increasingly smug and frenzied.

The Heart Sutra Fire and Bright God Fire shot forth, intertwined. In a flash, the blood mist that had been calmly drifting through the earlier flames seemed to meet its bane, shriveling in an instant.
The blood mist receded like a tide, leaving the ground littered with twisted skeletons, grotesque insects, and bizarre creatures...
Exposed in the green tree sap, these things immediately began to writhe and screech.
The shrill, piercing cries made the flesh of Song Ciwan’s wounds churn as if boiling water had been poured into them.
Song Ciwan immediately steadied her mind and cast the Ganlin Spell.
A gentle drizzle of healing rain fell, tenderly mending her open wounds and allowing Song Ciwan’s damaged body to recover swiftly.
After the blood mist retreated, the writhing, twisted skeletons and other creatures turned to ash amidst piercing screams.
Beneath the ash, Song Ciwan saw a blood-red, spectral shadow. With a SWOOSH, it shot like a wisp of smoke into a nearby, almost-dry pool and vanished.
’Not good!’
’The Second Young Master is trying to escape.’
’The art of war dictates that one should not pursue a cornered foe. Logically, Song Ciwan should let the Second Young Master escape and not give chase.’
’But as another old saying goes: Opportunity knocks but once.’

Without a moment’s hesitation, Song Ciwan gave chase, heading for the spot where the Second Young Master had vanished.
The area had once been a hollow containing a shallow pool of tree sap, but the fierce battle between Song Ciwan and the Second Young Master had scattered almost all of it.
With the sap no longer obscuring her view, Song Ciwan discovered a deep tree hollow hidden beneath the depression!
The Second Young Master had escaped through this very hollow.
Song Ciwan recalled her Heart Sutra Fire and Bright God Fire. She then transformed into wind, following the lingering traces of the Second Young Master’s aura in hot pursuit.
As she pursued, she used the Great Derivation Birth Skill to continuously track the Second Young Master’s escape route.
In truth, there wasn’t much to calculate. The tree hollow was winding, but it had no forks. Song Ciwan just had to follow the single path; she couldn’t lose him.
However, the Great Derivation Birth Skill had many uses beyond just tracking a target’s location; it could also help Song Ciwan more clearly sense impending fortune and danger.
Notably, while the blood mist had been rampant, the Great Derivation Birth Skill seemed to have been obscured; Song Ciwan had tried to use it several times to no avail. Now that the mist was gone, the technique was instantly responsive again.
It was like a mirror, finally cleansed of filth after great effort, now able to truly reveal its power to reflect all things.
Dozens of breaths later, Song Ciwan’s senses suddenly sharpened.
’She could feel it—the Second Young Master was just ahead!’
The tree hollow bent, and Song Ciwan, still in her wind form, swept through the turn.
She didn’t see him, though. Just around the bend, the Second Young Master’s Blood Shadow form was holding a small, palm-sized gourd, its opening aimed squarely in the direction of her pursuit.
Despite using the Great Derivation Birth Skill, Song Ciwan had somehow failed to foresee the impending danger.
A voice cried out, "Treasure, slay my enemy! Now!"
Only in the instant of their confrontation did a powerful sense of crisis finally, belatedly, wash over her.
’In other words, the Great Derivation Birth Skill was no longer obscured, but it had a delay!’
In a flash, in that razor-thin moment between life and death, a rainbow-like beam of light shot out from the gourd.
It moved faster than a shooting star, faster than the blink of an eye.
Neither Song Ciwan’s Xuanwu Mountain Observation Seal nor her Body of Impermanence could block the beam of light.

At the last possible second, as swift as wind and thunder, in that fleeting instant, Song Ciwan managed to shift her body just slightly to the right.
The beam of light pierced through her chest, missing her heart by a mere half-inch!
Overwhelmed by excruciating pain, Song Ciwan fell backward.
Overjoyed, the Second Young Master’s Blood Shadow form instantly swirled toward her. With a SWOOSH, it dove into Song Ciwan’s Sea of Consciousness.
Song Ciwan asked through the pain, "What are you doing?"
The Second Young Master’s twisted voice seethed with hatred. "Possession! You whelp destroyed my physical body, so I’ll just have to take your Dharma Body as a replacement!"
Before his voice faded, his Blood Shadow form had already plunged directly into Song Ciwan’s Sea of Consciousness.
THUD!
Song Ciwan’s physical body collapsed to the ground.
Meanwhile, inside her Sea of Consciousness, the intruding Second Young Master was utterly stunned.
Song Ciwan’s Sea of Consciousness was impossibly vast. Beneath a starlit dome, a divine figure sat enthroned as a Demon Seed sprouted below. Beneath the seed, the Heart Sutra Fire and the Bright God Fire flickered ominously...
’Is this the Sea of Consciousness of a proper Cultivator?’
’No, this is clearly a fortress, a terrifying trap!’
The Second Young Master’s Blood Shadow form cried out in shock and fury, "No! How is this possible? Aren’t you a Body Refining Cultivator? How can you have a deity in your Sea of Consciousness?!"
What was a deity?
A deity was a convergence of a person’s Essence, Qi, and Spirit. To achieve this divine state meant achieving Mastery of spirit, unimpeded Qi, and Divine Techniques.
When Divine Sense and will coalesced in this way, a deity was formed.
Only by forming such a deity could a Cultivator reach the stage of Divinity Transformation.
Furthermore, a Cultivator who had reached Divinity Transformation could not only survive the destruction of their physical body, but their deity could also find a new host and be reborn.
Previously, although the Second Young Master had used a Substitute Death Grassman to gain an extra life, his original physical body had been seized by Song Ciwan at the moment of his first death.
Having lost his physical body, the Second Young Master had anchored his deity within the blood mist, which became his second life.
But then, that second life was burned away by Song Ciwan’s incomplete Samadhi True Fire. In the end, he was forced to once again anchor his deity elsewhere and transfer his life force.
Having lost two lives, the Second Young Master turned to flee.
When Song Ciwan gave chase, the Second Young Master seized the opportunity to lay a trap. He used a Magical Treasure to drain her vitality, creating a chance for his deity to invade and possess her body.
The Second Young Master had thought he was setting a trap for Song Ciwan. Now, in this moment, he began to have a terrible suspicion. ’Could it be that I’m the one who’s been trapped?’
