Eternal Life: I Can Sell Everything

Chapter 333 - 326: A New Source of Wool

Qi Over Five Jin. Even if it was just the Qi from a mortal, it was still a decent haul.

Song Ciwan used a Fire Rope conjured by her Blazing Flame Technique to bind the Skeleton Cultivator tightly. Through her perception, she sensed that this Evil Cultivator’s Cultivation was somewhere between the Early and Mid-Stages of Qi Refining.

Song Ciwan could effortlessly crush an opponent of this level.

Not only could she crush the cultivator easily, but the very moment she bound the Evil Cultivator, Song Ciwan also received a ball of Qi from her: [Human Desires: The shock, fury, and hatred of a demonized Mid-Stage Qi Cultivation Cultivator. One jin and five taels. Tradable.]

’So she really is at Mid-Stage Qi Cultivation!’

It was worth noting that back in Illusory Nether City, while Song Ciwan could kill Mid-Stage Qi Refining cultivators with ease, that ease had its limits—

For instance, if an ordinary Mid-Stage Qi Cultivation cultivator had a combat power of two, she, with her various buffs and especially the unique divine skill, the Illusion-Breaking Blade Technique, could reach a combat power of five.

A five against a two was a foregone conclusion, of course.

The Illusion-Breaking Blade Technique was particularly suited for surprise attacks and assassinations. With a sneak attack, forget a five killing a two; even a two against a two could easily end in a single, fatal blow if the opponent was caught off guard.

However, such an attack required a combination of factors. The limit of her five-versus-two advantage was that Song Ciwan could, at most, fight about ten such opponents simultaneously. Even then, she had to rely on her Body Technique, weaving between them to strike individually, just to maintain the upper hand.

But now, Song Ciwan had a feeling—the Skeleton Cultivator beneath her Fire Rope felt as weak as an ant.

The opponent was still a two, but she was no longer a five.

She had gone from a five to a ten, or perhaps a twenty, thirty, fifty... maybe even higher.

Exactly how much higher, she couldn’t say. Without a sufficiently powerful opponent to test herself against, Song Ciwan had no way of knowing.

’At this moment, I was struck by a sudden realization: at some point, I had truly grown from the awkward mortal who had just awakened her Innate Wisdom into someone that a great many Little Cultivators would have to look up to.’

While investigating the secret of the leather pouch, she had been exceedingly cautious, even mentally preparing herself to face another formidable opponent.

She had rated her opponent very highly. But now, actually facing this Skeleton Cultivator, Song Ciwan felt for a moment like she was using a cannon to shoot a mosquito. ’That’s it?’

’Pardon me, it’s not that I’m getting arrogant, it’s just...’

’I seem to be a little stronger than even I expected. I haven’t even used any ultimate techniques, just a simple Blazing Flame Technique, and I’ve already got her tied up and unable to move.’

’I can only say that this world is too vast. Spread across the Nine Provinces, true experts aren’t so easy to come by.’

An Evil Cultivator stumbled upon in the countryside who was already at Mid-Stage Qi Refining should be considered quite formidable.

Song Ciwan felt it was necessary to properly assess her own strength. She would have to slowly adjust her mindset.

Of course, she still couldn’t afford to lose her caution.

The Blazing Flame Technique held the Skeleton Cultivator fast. What was a "little Blazing Flame Technique" in Song Ciwan’s eyes felt like the blazing terror of the Abyss to the Skeleton Cultivator.

A few thin, white lines of fire bound her. The heat of the flames was contained, not yet unleashed. After a brief, instinctual struggle, the Skeleton Cultivator suddenly dared not move.

She felt like a fish on a chopping block, liable to be scorched to a crisp at any moment.

"You... Your Excellency..." After a moment of shock and anger, she quickly changed her tone and asked cautiously, "Who might Your Excellency be? Why do you move against me?"

Song Ciwan ignored the Evil Cultivator, her gaze sweeping casually across the cavern.

At first glance, the cavern seemed entirely natural. Its walls were uneven and lined with grotesque, jagged rocks. Aside from an altar that was clearly man-made, everything else was pitifully crude.

But Song Ciwan quickly noticed something amiss. She raised a hand and flicked a wisp of Qi at the stone wall behind the altar.

The wisp of Qi Force shot out like a heavy arrow striking with the force of a thunderbolt.

With a loud BANG!

BOOM!

The stone wall exploded, sending countless fragments and clouds of dust flying. Yao Ermei, still on the ground, screamed, "Ah! Ahhh—"

Her first scream was one of panic; the second was one of terror.

As the dust settled, another cavern, about three zhang square, was revealed behind the wall.

Dozens of shadowy skeletons stood within the cavern. A thick, bloody stench wafted out, accompanied by a dark red mist that swirled with the remaining dust.

For Yao Ermei, the scene was more terrifying than anything she could have imagined in her entire life.

Witnessing it now with her own eyes, all she could do was scream, and scream again.

Her emotions spiraled completely out of control. Clumps of Human Desires erupted from her head like a sudden squall, only to be harvested by the Heaven and Earth Scale.

...

A great deal of Qi was released. Though the amount lessened with each burst, it wasn’t because Yao Ermei’s emotional turmoil had subsided. There’s a limit to how much emotion a person can externalize. The longer it went on, the more exhausted she became, until finally, she reached her breaking point. The whites of her eyes showed, and she collapsed to the ground in a dead faint.

Seeing Yao Ermei faint, and noticing Song Ciwan wave away the dust to peer into the skeleton-filled cavern, the Skeleton Cultivator lowered her head and suddenly spat out a piece of withered wood.

The withered wood instantly took the Skeleton Cultivator’s place, transforming into a perfect likeness of her. Meanwhile, the real Skeleton Cultivator’s body bizarrely vanished from within Song Ciwan’s Fire Rope and reappeared on the altar.

A flash of light erupted from the altar as a strange spatial power activated, preparing to teleport her away.

Song Ciwan simply pointed a finger again, activating the Heaven-Stealing Day-Changing Skill. This time, she swapped the wooden decoy in the Fire Rope with the Skeleton Cultivator on the altar.

And so, a scene unfolded as if in reverse—

The Skeleton Cultivator had used the withered wood to take her place, allowing her to escape to the altar. She thought she had made it to safety, but at the very moment the teleportation activated, she was swapped right back with the wood!

’Was she even human?!’

The Skeleton Cultivator’s jaw hung open. A thousand intense emotions roiled within her, wanting to burst forth. She wanted to curse the heavens, curse the earth, curse this person, but when the words finally came, all she could hastily cry out was, "Senior, spare me!"

Then the Skeleton Cultivator began to weep, tears and snot streaming down her withered face. "Senior, please, spare me! This humble one was only cultivating peacefully, hidden deep in the mountains! I truly don’t know how I’ve offended you! I beg you, Senior, please be merciful and let this humble one go!"

Meanwhile, the Heaven and Earth Scale manifested, harvesting one clump of Qi after another.

[Human Desires...]

...

Song Ciwan glanced at her Heaven and Earth Scale, then back at the Skeleton Cultivator before her, and felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

Truth be told, her Heaven and Earth Scale still had plenty of stock she hadn’t sold, especially Demon Spirit Malice and various kinds of Demon Spirit Death Qi.

But none of that was a cultivator’s Human Desires, making it difficult to exchange for more Cultivation.

And now, with her Dantian as vast as the sea, Song Ciwan was in desperate need of precisely two things: Cultivation and True Qi.

She needed a lot. A whole, whole lot.
