Evolution Online: Building a Kingdom with 100\% drop rate
Chapter 259: Ch-259: Evolution and RitualAfter about an hour, the entire lake was completely blood-red.
"It’s finally over." Alaric exhaled in relief as he wiped the sweat from his brow, which had formed due to his nervousness.
"Huff... Huff..." Victor panted heavily, as even with the potions, he felt completely exhausted.
"Who will go first?" Maria, the Queen, looked at her husband, daughter, and son and asked.
Everyone hesitated until Jack stepped forward. "I will go first and test it."
Splash.
Before they could react, Jack jumped into the lake, and as soon as he did, the entire lake started to glow and began bubbling.
"Why does it seem like the entire lake is boiling?" Valerie said barely above a whisper, and no one could answer her, even the royal family, as this was the first time they had seen this.
Everyone watched nervously as time passed, and even after more than an hour had passed, there were no signs of any movement except for the bubbling lake, which started to react even more violently.
"Don’t tell me something went wrong," Maria said with a deathly pale face as she looked at the lake nervously.
"Calm down, it should be fine. Our ancestors have prepared for this day for a very long time, so it should be okay," Alaric said, trying to reassure his wife, but even he was not confident in his words.
Another hour passed, and the room was thick with tension.
"Father, I think you should check if he is okay and pull Brother up." Seraphina was biting her nails, the image of a dignified princess in public gone, replaced by a panicked and worried sister.
"Hmm." Victor watched as the King was about to act and then sharply turned to look at the lake. The others also looked towards the lake and saw a small whirlpool forming.
Soon, from the whirlpool, a large red cocoon floated out and came into everyone’s view.
"A cocoon, just like the ancestors instructed." Alaric said with excitement, as he was 80% sure the curse was lifted upon seeing the cocoon.
"Jack, I can sense his life force, but... it’s a bit different," Maria suddenly exclaimed and then frowned when she felt Jack’s life force was a bit different.
"Let’s first bring him out," Alaric said as he hurriedly dragged the cocoon ashore, and with hesitation, he tore the cocoon apart, and large amounts of thick red blood poured out from the cocoon.
Inside was Jack, whose eyes immediately opened and saw everyone looking at him.
"Jack, you..." Jack frowned when he saw his parents and sister, and even Victor and the girls, looking at him with shocked expressions.
"What’s wrong? Did it not work?" Jack asked as his heart sank.
"No, it seems to have worked, but you look different, and heavens, your blood purity..." Maria’s body trembled as she could feel Jack’s Bloodline more clearly, and without hesitation, she poked a needle into his arm, which was connected to a small screen that showed the value.
"Heavens, your Bloodline purity has reached 81%, a full 5% increase." Maria’s mouth hung open. For them, the royal demons, even a 0.1% increase was significant and very difficult to achieve.
"What!!!" Both Alaric and Seraphina’s mouths hung open when they heard the Queen and took the device from her, and sure enough, it was true.
"What... does it mean I have evolved from a Royal Demon to a Pseudo Primordial?" Alaric’s mouth hung open. The highest Bloodline purity a non-Primordial Demon can reach is 80%, and very few demons who have had fortuitous encounters can purify their Bloodline to above 80%. There have only been a handful of such cases, and they were given the title of Pseudo Primordial.
"What, my Blood can help you evolve?" Even Victor was dumbfounded hearing their words.
Alaric, Maria, and Seraphina looked at Victor with a glint in their eyes, which sent a shiver down his spine.
Alaric calmed down from his excitement and said, "We have no idea. Even when Night Slayers were alive, there was no such case where Night Slayers could help evolve the Bloodline of other Night Creatures. This is the first time in history it has happened."
"Stop talking, I want to try next," Seraphina said, getting impatient.
"Wait—" Before Maria could even say anything, her daughter directly jumped into the red lake.
Splash.
"This girl..." Alaric rubbed his temples as he saw his impatient daughter.
Woosh.
After about two hours, just like the last time, a vortex formed in the lake, and a blood-red cocoon floated up. Alaric repeated the same process and tore the cocoon apart.
"Woah, my body has become more mature, and my skin looks so bright," Seraphina said with a gasp as the two treasures on her chest had grown even bigger.
Maria frowned upon seeing her daughter’s current appearance, which was not befitting of a princess, and waved her hands. A fresh set of clothes appeared on Seraphina’s body and dried her.
Victor used his pupil technique on her, and sure enough, there was a change in her status window.
[Princess Seraphina Luxem]
[Race: Pseudo Primordial Demon]
[Level: 401]
[Tier: 4]
"Their aura has become heavier," Rina muttered as she felt the change coming from Seraphina and Jack.
"Our turn," Maria said as she first went into the lake, followed by Alaric.
After he had confirmed that their curse had indeed been broken, he looked at Victor with eyes filled with gratitude and said, "I would like to thank you again, Victor, for helping my family. If there is anything you want, don’t hesitate to ask me."
"Then I won’t be polite when the time comes," Victor said. He was not stupid enough to say no to the aid of a Tier 5 expert, and he had shed a lot of blood for them, so he felt no hesitation.
"Father, now that our Bloodline is pure, shouldn’t we try to get better weapons? I have a feeling we can get Soul Weapons from the Night Weapon Realm," Prince Jack said, looking at Alaric with anticipation.
"You are right," Queen Maria said with a glint in her eyes, as even she was eager to check if she could claim a Soul Weapon for herself.
"Fine, let’s go. I even promised her... In fact, why don’t you all try?" Alaric said, looking at Rina and Valerie.
"Did you not say the weapon is only for Night Creatures?" Rina asked with a raised eyebrow.
"That’s not the case. I said it because the weapons are all Darkness-attributed, and most with Warlock Bloodlines that do not have any relationship with Darkness tend to fail... but some very rare ones, like once in a millennium, succeed," Alaric said with a shrug.
"I see," Valerie nodded.
---
After a few minutes, the group arrived in a different place. The open field was completely surrounded by large pillars the size of skyscrapers, and they were entirely made out of jade.
"Let me tell you how the process will work," Alaric stopped, looking at Victor and the girls.
"Do you see that crystal orb?" Alaric pointed, and Victor and the others shifted their gazes and saw a blue crystal orb resting on top of a jade stand.
"You need to go and drop your blood onto the crystal, and the pillars surrounding the place will light up. The purer your blood and the greater your potential, the more pillars will light up, and the greater the chances of you obtaining a Soul Weapon," Alaric explained, and Victor and the girls nodded. Then he continued, "The weapons will directly appear from a special dimension where numerous weapons, including Soul Weapons, were stored by the former Primordial and Devil Slayer after the Great War."
Suddenly, Jack looked at Victor and Amber and said, "Just so you know, I have managed to release five pillars of light! And I am recognized as one of the most talented demons since our ancestors’ era!"
"By the way, I managed to release nine pillars of light, and that’s the minimum requirement to summon a Soul Weapon," Seraphina said.
’So nine pillars is the minimum requirement,’ Victor thought with a frown on his face.
"So who will go first?" Maria said, looking at everyone.
"You two should go first," Alaric said, pointing at Rina and Valerie.
"Fine," Rina said as she shrugged her shoulders, stepped in front of the orb, and let blood drip from her fingertips onto the orb.
As soon as the blood touched the orb, it was sucked into the orb. It glowed dimly before the glow vanished.
"Looks like it failed," Seraphina said with a sigh as she saw Rina returning to her place, and then Valerie stepped forward with anticipation, but to her disappointment, it failed again.
"Who’s next?" Alaric asked.
"I will go next," Prince Jack said as he was getting impatient to get his hands on a Soul Weapon.
He stood in front of the orb with a nervous look on his face and repeated the same process as Amber and Rina.
Unlike both of them, the orb illuminated the entire room, and the pillars around him started to tremble.
